I am just waiting for another android manufacturer to step up. Samsung have no interest in fragmentation and there is no indication that will do anything with project treble at all, they just want to do their own thing and their phones are still loaded with so much stuff that makes them slower than they really need to be.

Google is still very much function over form and are probably wary of pi**ing off the other android manufacturers. Oneplus or Huawei look best placed imo. I have an S9+ (I always alternate between an iDevice and droid) but this will probably be my last Samsung phone.

Face it, your stuck with just another run of the mill android turd that’s not up to the task
I'm not going to debate this (dumb) topic, but this is a hilariously bad take and you should be ashamed to have actually posted this.

This coming from a person who owns, and loves both the XS Max and Note9.

Not really, that's the carrier taking a loss to get a new line; not the MSRP being reduced by the Manufacturer. ie. to remove carrier/store discounts that they eat, the s9+ was released at $840 through Samsung direct at launch; now on their site it's $739.99 only 6 months later. Clearly if they were selling well the manufacturer wouldn't need to crank the MSRP down $100 only after 6 months.

Huawei only makes 1 "flagship" device over $600 that I'm aware of; the P20 Pro right now. That is not really the same argument at all, 99.9% of their devices are not in the same class of device. Their business model is McDonalds; sell high high volume of cheap stuff.
well...now you are moving the goal posts and qualifying the reasons they run BOGO sales...... doesn't matter. iPhones go on sale immediately after launch. Doesn't matter who or why...they still go on sale.

You said
Who wouldn't buy the "better" phone for less money?
Like I asked does sales mean a better product then? Cause a lot of other phones sell better than iPhones. Not all of them are just low priced cheap phones either.
Now you are moving the goal posts so to speak to only include higher priced phones?

If by your own logic...sales mean better Android outsells IOS/iPhones by quite a large margin.

I'm just play devils advocate here.... i think the examples you gave don't make sense.
Sales do not always mean its a better product. The iPhone is the single best selling phone in the world.
I use them...I have had everyone since the first iPhone and love my Xs Max.

There are other great phones out there that do not match the iPhone in sales......that doesn't mean they are not great phones.

For me, it's about timely updates - I know Apple is going to support this phone for years. That, plus the fact that everything else I have is Apple, apart from my Honor 10 which is a capable android backup device.

The Note 9 looks great and I'm sure it will please many people; it's just not for me.

samsung will never sell a certain phone as well as apple simply b/c they have too much competition in the android space. heck just this month about 4 more android phones are coming out, two of them flagship phones from google and huawei. way too many choices to choose from. android fans aren't stuck buying from one company.

apple lovers dont want to talk about ios vs android sales though. or ios vs android market share. because both don't look pretty.

at the end of the day though, i dont care about sales from any company. i care about having a phone that can do the most and do it smoothly while lasting all day.

I think Samsung have reduced the price of the S9 + to help differentiate it from the note 9. They can’t have two devices that are virtually the same size differentiated by only an S pen and a bigger battery selling at the same price. They are pricing the S9 plus as cheaper to help consumers decide.

Keep telling yourself that. My 5 year old 6 plus still runs as good as the day it was new and the battery still has an 85% capacity. I and many others on this forum have been down that andavoid road enough to realize 2, maybe 3 years is when its adios. Keep up the good fight Boomer.

first off you cant even count as the 6 plus hasn't even been out for 5 years....

2nd off, i feel like old android devices (especially the note series) age pretty well.

For most of the general public that use their phone as an iPod with calling capability the iPhone will sell more. Note 9 is much closer to a computer replacement that fits in the pocket but not everyone need that capability and versatility.

I agree 100%.
The features packed into a Note 9 would make Steve Jobs tumble.
Here I am with a $4.00 a month XsMAX on Sprint I can’t complain and at $4.00 a month in 18 months I pay $250 and its mine to keep. I did have to give Sprint my old S8+.
I begged Sprint for a Note 9 @$18 a Month. But they could not budge.
I was Watching a YouTube Video and Texting at the same time on the Note 9 and when the YouTube video got to a certain part. I pulled out the SPen, drew a box around the scene. And pulled that screen Capture into a Text Messgae in real time. That level of advancement is only offered on the iPad Pro.

There is difference between gimmicks and features.

BTW I'm still waiting on your reply if your iPhone can do this with its high geek bench score...

My note 2 is still running well with most newest apps. What you said is wrong.

Keep bringing up the speed test to suit you but discount the fact the Note 9 gets absolutely pummeled by the XS and MAX. Maybe Samdung needs to up the memory to 16GB. lol

i'm actually bring up the speed tests that shows how ignorant your statements are.the videos shows older Android devices running just fine.

Again, whats so important about raw power if Apple doesn't apply it. I'm still waiting for you to show me how can iPhone can do this.

The note 9 is better own both. But my daily driver is the MAX

Here is my take.
Note 9 has a better screen (dont care what display mate say. We know that samsung and apple buy award each year)

Spen is great
Battery
Is smooth and fast (just like the max)
Android (can do so much stuff i cant on ios)

Why im keeping the max

I have been ios and android guy for the longest. Now android Pie came out 2 month ago and note 9 wont see it until maybe april of next year. Ios will always be ready on day one and if theres a software problem we can count that apple will release an update. Just like he now CHARGEGATE.

I decided to go to ios after updating my spare phone a 6S to ios 12. It became smoother and faster than 90% of android phone out.

Im tired of buying a flaship android phone every year. Just because phones dont get supported anymore or updates take forever cause company like samsung wants to make their newest release a priority.

Android phone company make money out of phones. They dont care about software update etc. Ios makes money from their software reason why all the phones will always work well and get support from years.

That is Samsung but the worm is turning, Google and Essential have updates on day 1. OnePlus already has Pie as do some Sonys and LG are also making the right noises and even launched an Android one device recently. Samsung just don't care. The S9 is still on 8.0 now not even 8.1 there.

The minority.
I don’t understand why this has become a trashing match. iphones are very good.
FIFY

It's been the same old song and dance for you Andavoid users for years. Inferior software, lack of support and serious, I mean serious p***s envy. Apple abused you for years and years with superior battery life and integration. At the time you clowns spouted off about superior hardware even though it didn't show up in real-time use. NOW you talk about superior (laughable) battery time but shrug off getting abused in Geekbench scores. It must be absolutely embarrassing that Apple uses half the memory and still has a more robust, stable and powerful processor.
