My 512gb note9 bought at $450 full upfront payment required me to take up a 2 years contract at $35 monthly phone plan. So there is no sale there too then. :p

Seriously doubt you got that deal for one, which everyone already called you out on that. Please prove it with some paperwork from your provider that shows that.

I never thought of the crapware PC makers put on PC's as features. But the same bloatware/crapware on a smartphone is somehow an awesome feature.. The samsung experience? lol Yep, I remember the HP experience long ago when I bought a PC loaded with HP crap.
You’re closed minded so it’s not even worth debating with you on it. We get it, you’re here to rip Samsung no matter what they do.

What's everyone thoughts? I know this will probably end in a war but can anyone here really say the XS Max is better than the note? I've owned both since launch day and can honestly say the only thing about the iPhone that's better is the battery life. Other than that Note absolutely destroys it in every way.

Am I the only one that thinks this?
I returned my Note 9 for the XS Max. The battery on my Note 9 was really poor, and I just think the iPhone is a better built device.

I am not from where you are. A lot of places, iphone is way over-priced for what it offers. Even Samsung is not cheap at all but Iphone prices are just ridiculous.

If Samsung isn't cheaper, who will buy it?
I, myself, can't believe millions of people are all dumb to buy overpriced phone for what it can offer.

If iphone buyers fit the profile of some apple fans in this forum, what is there to not believe?
I have seen posts here advocating high Iphone prices are good for buyers because it is Apple blah blah.

I think Apple makes over 60% of its profit from US and Japan alone. For Japan, culturally they have distaste for anything Korean or Chinese whereas in US...well, one reason I can fathom is easy credit and apple is homegrown. Plus carriers "attractive" monthly pricing (that comes with complicated hidden costs)

Outside of these 2 countries competition between manufacturers/carriers are very intense leading to very competitive pricing and lower average selling price (for all phones). Of course, Apple don't do that well in these countries. I think Samsung is trying to compete against other lower priced phones than Iphone in these countries.

Samsung can sell Note9 at a much cheaper price and still make profit. Apple is the biggest winner making the most profit. Some of you will go into rage (or euphoric) ...who are the biggest losers??

You posted a picture about price in Malaysia. Then are all Malaysians who buy iphone is dumb? Are them all MacRumors' members?
I didn't say the high price is good for buyer. If the real value of the phone isn't match the price, will hundred million - billion people buy them? Are all of them so dumb to not realise something that you, a wise man, who know all thing, can realise?
For the rest, by using "I think" is something not worth to answer :)
In my country, the rate of Iphone/Samsung is about 5/1 and Xs Max/Note9 huh, 20/1 or bigger. I see hundred of people in my dicstrict use Xs Max and for Note 9, arround 1-2

You said they are dumb, I didnt :)

I said due to certain factors that distorted true market competitions (plus undying loyalty) that Iphone users paid much more for a phone which only fattened Apple huge profit (where a huge proportion were contributed by people in US and Japan)

And what wrong with people paid for what they feel worthy? Are you here to cry for the money that doesn't belong to you, use by people that you don't know, for a phone that you won't use?

Nope. It is your personal preference if you are happy paying more for something.
But you can't apply that as a general statement that Iphone costing more is justified and accountable.

I thought you were in China but you are from Malaysia.

I stay in a few places. But do spend time in Malaysia for work.

Nope. I didn’t “happy” to pay more. I just buy something I feel it’s worth the money I spend.
You can say the price is unreasonable or insane to you, buy the sale goes ... well ... up, so it’s not for who buy iphone.

Well, some people do lap it up if you can make the price "cheap" by offering pay monthly or on easy credit. If you do show them the full actual cost difference (including usage) that has been paid over 2 or 3 years (between a Note 9 and XS Max), some may be shocked out of their pants.

How many people don’t know that? Are all people who buy iphone don’t know how to do math? So supprise.
In my country, they don’t offer monthly plan. People buy full price, Samsung or Iphone. The result, still more iPhone :-??

Last I checked, I owned both a Note 9 and iPhone XS Max. But I prefer the Max as it's battery just lasts forever and the phone works smooth on everything.

What a bunch of FUD. How are those note 9 and Galaxy s9 sales? https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9-predictions-893457/

Maybe if Samsung offers bogo deals sales would improve. Nobody, as the FUD in your post indicates is about just throwing a dart to come up with a high price. The price is the price. Buy the phone (or any phone) at the price offered or not.

You’re right about one thing; blah, blah, blah.

No, bogo is not a sale for anyone period. Don't even try to reword it to make it sound better for you.

You are required to get another line, $25-30 a month after taxes on most providers. So then they credit the price of the phone, depending on the model from $32-$60. So in reality, you aren't getting a DEAL at all. You are locked in to a contract for 2 years and the extra line.

So no, it is not a sale.
sure it is a sale...after the 2 years is up you have a a free phone. That you did not have to pay for.

So then they credit the price of the phone, depending on the model from $32-$60
Sounds like you don't have to pay for your new phone then....how is that NOT a good deal again?

Of course it's FUD. And Samsung wouldn't be offering double on trade-ins right now, more than market value of some of these used devices, if it wasn't desperate to move units.

https://www.samsung.com/us/trade-in/

So basically the "better" device starts $100 cheaper yet Samsung has to give away the farm just to move them. Mhmmm.....

I think the point that people are making (and have made several times) is that it's not a deal if you hadn't originally planned on opening a new line.

It's like the pizza deal at the supermarket. You go in to buy a frozen pizza. You get to the pizza section and see that your favorite cardboard pizza is "on sale". "Buy 3, get one free!" You think you're getting a great deal when in fact you spent three times as much as you originally planned.

You're paying more than the cost of that phone over the two year period in service alone. Yes, you get credited but it's still money you wouldn't have spent. Now if you have someone who will take over that second line, then yes it's a deal.

Like yourself, I think the Note 9 is 1 powerful, unique, full of functionality all in 1 computer in your pocket type of phone. However, I do see there is both negatives and positives of both note vs. iPhone- but the gap is closing. Each year they make them become more 'similar' but they are also so different too. As owner of both, I know full well.

However, if you have lots of friends and family on the iPhone, having an iPhone for iMessage / FaceTime is just no brainer. These services are very "basic" but the iPhone actually do them very well. Currently, Android can't touch this because of no standard RCS.

I dislike all the comments of saying "why don't you keep the note then if you like it, your opinion is no value to us?" (Cringe worthy!) There is LOTS to learn from both sides. Samsung make the phone customized to your wants and needs.. bursting full of shortcuts and customization which makes the phone seem more advanced than iOS in many ways. The S Pen is just very useful to artist and people who love to write. I mean there are stuff Samsung / Android does that are better than the iPhone. I feel both learn from each other (galaxy and the iPhones).

Both phones are monsters and absolute top of their class, I'm just glad we live in a world with such options. I am happy with my iPhone because I'm confident in the level of security and privacy they give me versus Google/Android, but that's not related to the hardware.

I am such a sucker for these *deals* or non-deals.:oops::oops::oops::oops: I got my Max also BOGO $700. It is not even BOGO Free but I did get another max 256 gold for my mother. I will cancel my number to switch to the new line / number.:oops::oops::oops::oops:

You did have to pay for it by adding another line. LOL.

Im pretty sure anyone who visits MR in the "techy" crowd is already aware what Android can do. I dont go over to Android Central forums and start trying to convince people how good iOS is. I have far better things to do with my time; and makes you question motives doing that other than simply trolling.

No one here wants to be convinced; we're already iOS users currently or wouldnt be here to begin with. If I wanted to be convinced Id go read an Android-centric site or any of the better resources to get opinions on the Note and Android like real tech reviews and head-to-heads than one anonymous person's opinion.

The correct answer is if they like their Note then keep it; godspeed. But it comes off as simply trolling to take time out to post that on Apple sites (what other answer is expected?), especially when every post by that user is anti-Apple. No one wants to be annoyed hearing over and over how their decision sucks, Apple sucks, isheep, -gate this and that, etc etc etc.

Yeah there's a few bad apples in this bunch but I think a lot of the hostility comes from people who clearly never use iPhones coming in here and trashing the iPhone. I just can't grasp the concept of what people get out of going into a place like this to start arguments. I've never once had the desire to go to a Samsung forum and trash their garbage software.
