Let's see what else is useless to you :)
- big screen phone
- water proofing
- background multi tasking
- widget
- grouped notifications
- app folder
- shortcuts
- etc
Many many features of Samsung is useless to me, to be correct.
I do have a Note 9 so don't need anyone to tell me what it could do :))
It's just the experience on what I really need to use on my cellphone that matters

Note 9 can do everything xs max can. Plus many more that xs max can't. And note 9 is as fast or faster in daily use. And it is much cheaper.

In my own opinion, your post is reall b.s and the only reason that I reply and talk to you is that it's Sunday morning here, all I want to do is have something to kill time

Well, I posted evidences in terms of video. You can dismiss those videos based on your own preferences and conjectures...but like I said not everyone is interested in your personal preference that maybe bias.

Mib1800 I’ll give you credit, you are thorough. I want a note 9, but I won’t pay more than $400 for it.

I won't buy a xs max if it costs more than a note 9. That's just not value for money.

The note can do more, but it’s an inferior product to the max. I don’t think anyone who is free of bias would disagree. People on here are bias to the max, and people on xda would be bias towards the note. The feel in hand alone on the max is miles ahead of the note. The note doesn’t even feel like a real phone if you know what I mean. Feels really cheap and almost like a toy. I still want one, but I know that it would never be my go to phone.

I find the max design less refined. Holding it in hand you can feel the sharp edges. And the offset camera bump and the notch does show less than premium design. And the blinky silver/gold rim is just tacky.

I never noticed any of that but you seem to be hell bent on disparaging the max. Thankfully the note is also available. I bought 1 too many Samsung’s at full price on launch day, only to see them not be worth even 1/2 their msrp less than a year later. I’ve had my differences with FFR on here, but he is right. Samsung is basically giving the note 9 away due to their double trade in value. The phones being traded in aren’t worth close to the $600 they give you. You can dislike the iPhone all you want, but apple is moving millions of them and has never resorted to a fire sale like you see with galaxy phones. I love galaxy phones, I just realized that buying a Samsung at launch is basically burning $400 that you could save if you wait until Black Friday. Besides, the OnePlus 6T is probably going to be a better phone than the note 9, and it’s $5XX retail.

If comparing to max which price is much much less worth it. We know how much apple makes off you. So if you want to pay apple and carriers 50-60% of the money you paid for your iPhone as pure profit in their pocket, please go ahead and be happy. :p

In the real world of (android) phone competition, note9 price is already higher than averages so discount is inevitable. So we android buyers are more worldly so we won't pay 50-60% into someone's pocket as profit.

A can of Red Bull is $2.99 and probably costs .25 to make. It’s pure profit for Red Bull, but people buy it because they like it and they can afford it. Most things that cost a lot have huge profits for the creators. The note 9 is a nice phone. The only thing is, it will be $300 in 2 years. You’re not going to find a max for $300 in that time. It just goes to show that there is a higher demand for the max because it’s a better phone and has probably double the lifespan of any android phone. Look at the price of a galaxy s7 edge today. Even an s8+. It’s ridiculous how badly they age and how fast their value plummets. It’s criminal to pay full price for damn near any android that isn’t a pixel or a OnePlus. LG phones are even worse. The v40 is $900 at launch. It’ll be $300 within 2 years. Resale price doesn’t determine if something is good or not, but it’s pretty telling. I felt kind of bad when I paid $1099 for my max, but I would feel like an idiot to buy a note 9 knowing it’ll be half price in a year. I’ll happily pay $450 for one, but not $999.

A LV bag costs 20x more what a normal bag which can lasts just as long. So your point being?

I doubt many bought the note9 at $999. During pre order, Samsung thrown in lots of freebies like accessories and watch. For my case, it was the free upgrade to 512gb version.

If you lose 30% of value of max, in absolute term you still lose more money. Pay overprice for a max is still worse off.

Pre order freebies aside:

$999 Note 9 will be good for 3 years or so
$1099 max will be good for 5 years or so

Seems to me that my extra $100 buys me about 2 more years of usage. Even if you keep a max as a backup down the line, it will be far closer to its original quality than any note.

We heard the old “Samsung finally did it, my note 8/s8+ doesn’t lag!” And now when the new phones came out, people admitted that their note 8 and s8+ did in fact start to lag in under a year. The note 9 is very close to the max right now, but even this time next year it’ll be hiccuping and the max will still be cruising along. I’ve had every galaxy s phone besides the 5 and the 9. It’s always the same song and dance and I am no longer taking the loss every time a new galaxy comes out.

To be correct you would more likely pay $300-$400 more for max. I can save that amount and buy a new note down the line instead of stuck with an old max :)

Slowing down? iPhone 7 is slower than max just like note 5 is slower than note 9. What's so surprising about that?

A 3 year old android is a nightmare to use. I have a v20 with the snapdragon 820 (flagship chip for phones like the galaxy s7 edge) and it’s a nightmare to use now. Yet a 6s is still very usable in everyday life today, even with only 2gb of ram.

If I could get one for £400 I would and at that price I wouldn’t mind if it spent most of its time in a drawer.

It’s difficult to say. The max is better for me but I know for some the note would be the better phone. An android user would pick the note and an iPhone user would pick the iPhone.

The note is a very capable phone and ticks every box. I prefer the iPhone but I can see that the note is a beast.

Not true in general. My 3-4 years old note 5 is still very snappy and more than usable. My backup s8+ still performs the same the day I bought it. My uncle has no issue using his note 2.

I think $600-700 is the retail price you can get a note 9 in Asia without any strings attached. Actually don't think price dropped that much as during launch there were lots of freebies offered.

If I thought the note was the better phone then I’d pay the retail price. If they want to give me something free then that’s a bonus for me as the consumer. The reason why I won’t pay retail price for a Samsung phone is because I prefer the iPhone and I can’t use two phones. Tired it before and the Samsung phone ends up in a drawer not getting used whilst I carry on using my iPhone.
