So, my 7 plus was yellower towards the bottom. Not horrible, but enough to annoy me. I used the phone for a 2 hour skype call today and then nothing till this evening. Looking at the screen it struck me that the yellow seemed mostly gone. I opened up the test images and was having a hard time even noticing the uniformity issue.

In disbelief I did some internet searches online. There are quiet a few people around posting on different forums around the internet with various different phones and tablets who are saying that their screens got better with time. Multiple people are saying they let their phone play videos all night on full brightness and the uniformity issues improved a lot.

That seems somewhat consistent with what happened after my long skype call. Anyway, I don't quiet belief my eyes tonight. But last night the screen was annoying me with obvious yellowness at the bottom. Tonight I'm having to look really hard to see the problem. In fact, I'd now say my screen is good enough.

I'm going to play a youtube aquarium video all night at full brightness. We'll see.

I noticed a few people on this forum saying their yellowness issues improved with time. A lot of people say that. So, I suspect there is something to it. Whether it's glue is not known.

I think that those with this issue, as there is a 2 week return time, should wait a week. Try playing videos over night on the screen. See what happens. I'd be curious for others to report back on the outcome of these experiments. I'll report back in the morning myself.

Be careful with that lmao, you're going to get the pessimist going again. I noticed this on mine too and I've been checking it daily. My screen is brighter and better than day 1 after a week use. I could careless what the naysayers say it's what I observed.

I actually have to admit that it somehow got better on mine, too.

It was yellower towards the bottom and when you first see it, you can't unsee it anymore and I was ready to get it exchanged on Monday...but somehow it's now barely noticeable. I would say it's now a non-issue for me actually. I don't know what happened or how it happened, but it just got better. I can't believe it myself as that yellow tint at the bottom really annoyed the heck out of me while reading and scrolling on white websites or when typing on the keyboard.

Hmm...

i've got the same thing, yellower at the bottom; or actually at the top too, if you angle it a certain way. it has to do with viewing angles.

i took it to the apple store and compared it to about 6 or 7 other models - every model was cooler than mine (all 7's or 7+'s) and dimmer! even at max brightness / power saving off / nigh shift off.

So weird. So I'm going to keep this screen based on that fact alone. And the yellow at an angle is only on an angle - not straight on / in the middle of the screen. There, the colours shine true. Hopefully it changes, but I'm thinking our brains just get used to the colour and substitutes what we know should be there instead of the screen actually changing.

I've been comparing mine to my wife's 7, which she got on the 16th as well but haven't been using it much like I have. I also tend to use mine with a brighter setting. When we initially got them, both screens had the same tone and almost the same brightness with my 7+ slightly brighter. I compared them again last night, mine is noticeably less warmer and way brighter than hers. Something definitely changed on mine. I will compare hers again in a week to see if hers improves.

I was already content with my screen and decided it was not worth playing the exchange lottery like I have in the past. My screen is perfect now and I'm glad I stayed put.

Here's mine today compared to the other day. I don't know if it seems more white maybe placebo effect.

But the screens always seemed fine to me, I compared mine to 5 other 7s plus phones. Obviously it's warmer compared to my 6splus. It's far more white compared to what I can capture with my fiancée 6s plus to take the picture compared to what my eyes see in real time. But I took the pictures to see anyway. First picture is the one from the other day. Second one is just now.

The latest definitely is the better picture. This proves that the screen will get better in time.

Tonight I will make sure I have a rabbit's foot and four leaf clover next to my iPhone and I will let a video run continuously for 3 hours ago. That should do it. :)

Oh and not compare it go other iPhones anymore. It is what it is, if I do not like it then I will just return it.

I think if there is seriously nothing wrong with the phone I would keep it there's more things to worry about than just a warmer screen. you may get something worse with bigger problems

I think so to. I didn't really want to play the exchange game and end up getting a device that was worse or something else wrong with it. I figured worst case if I went past my 14 day return I have apple care+ & I could show them the screen was yellow & have it swapped.

Especially now screen replacement through Apple Care+ is $29.

Getting close to the 14 day mark and I'm looking forward to going back to my 6. I have one for work too and keep thinking it's the newer phone. :(

I just don't understand why mine is darker. It's not terribly yellow but definitely has a tint. It's pretty apparent in person.

Run it at high brightness for a week and see if it gets better. If not you can still exchange it ;).
Haha Exactly what I'm doing right now. Got it all the way up and going to try it out for the week. So far I've had it for 5 days.  genius wants to take a look at it Tuesday.

Update: My unit is F2 (Foxconn) I know some others have mentioned F2L, and that's what I have. But what you really need to know is the factory and the date range.

My screen is noticeable warmer. Yellow----eh warmer... If I don't look only at my 7+, I would suggest it's a tad warmer or much the same. Side by side, definitely the white balance has gone towards yellow, at the faintest.

What's also noticeable, colors are more vibrant. So reds are redder, etc. Does not seem brighter, and when aiming an LED lamp at the face of both models side by side, I did not notice any change in brightness for either one.

I currently have auto brightness on, and the slider maxed.

Just noticed, at this very moment I have nightshift on... I was thinking, man my phone is looking very yellow right now, almost like sunset... Then I remembered to check my settings. So the above is true, the yellow tint is not noticeable while only examining the 7+... But side by side, you do see the difference. Nightshift off... Very acceptable towards superior.

The more vibrant colors are also hands down noticeable and quite striking.

I have been thinking... Some users, especially with the screen's wider color gamut may have yellow sensitive cones in their eyes. There's been a suggestion that a 4th cone, turns out to be more prevalent in people than first thought and it makes yellows pop more for those who have them.

What if this issue with the iPhone 7, happens to be based on a genetic variation on some people? Just a thought.

Don't worry, it'll get better on the 15th day you have it. :D

Good points. I can notice a color difference too. I have been thinking about my eyes seeing the phone as more yellow than other people's eyes.

Haha! That's always the case.

I tried to run the screen at full brightness all night with a video playing, but the 'never' lock option is a lie! haha! After about 5 hours or so the phone turned off. So, I did not get to run it ALL night.

I took photos to show and compare to photos taken when I first bought it, but the photos don't look right at all. They would unfortunately be quite useless.

I do think the phone is better from a few days ago, but it could just be my mind playing tricks on me, since I have no independent way to say whether it's better or not.

I've been away for a few days, but I'm happy to see that many of you are experiencing positive changes as your display settles in and your eyes adjust.

Here are two shots of my two iPhone 7 Plus side by side. As you may see (on a properly calibrated display or at least one not too bad :) ), there is a tiny difference. But as tiny as it may look on these pics, I can tell which one is which.

Returning the one on the right as you may have guessed :)

(Photos taken with a Nikon D800, all settings to manual and stored directly in JPEG so it won't be tampered by any editing)
The one on the right has more depth and contrast and a more accurate white balance. Not yellow at all. The one on the left looks like it has a cool tint or cast over it with less contrast and vibrancy. I'd keep the one to the right, personally.

I looked at a couple of display units at Best Buy. Not pee yellow, but warmer than my 6S Plus. Acceptable though. Absolutely not as bright as mine though. Colors don't look more vibrant at all. Just a warmer, less bright version of what I have.

I made a separate thread about my brightness issue, but I figured I'd post the pic in here since it seems to coincide with my yellowy iPhone. Been using the 7 Plus today and it seems to be stuck in a low brightness with auto-brightness off. If I slide the brightness down all the way the phone display is basically off :( My 7 Plus compared to a 6 in same conditions, but the 6 has auto brightness on (doesn't seem to matter). It's like it adjusts the brightness with auto-brightness off, but won't come out of it.

This might be the dimmest yet.

I would suggest turning auto brightness ON and do a reboot. Fixed it for me once.

Best case it's just overheating protection dimming the display. Is this after following someone's advice to leave it on at max brightness to dry some imaginary glue? Give it some time to cool off and hopefully recover but if it doesn't then you can always exchange or return it within your 14 days.

My 7 was all packed up ready to be returned as the bottom part of the screen is discoloured and REALLY distracting on stuff like messages, emails, internet, etc. The screen also wasn't as bright as my 6 and had a warmer tone like may others, but only slightly. To be honest, I could have lived with both of those things, but not the uneven display. Tried resets, erasing everything, starting from new/restore, etc and no change. My first 5 also had yellowing on part of the display and nothing improved it. Replacement was perfect.
After reading some recent posts, I figured what the heck and have been running it on maximum brightness with a video playing for 10 straight hours. For what it's worth, in my case, there is absolutely no difference whatsoever so it's still going back. I'm going to leave up to the hands of fate and if they have any replacements in stock, I'll exchange ,but if not then I'll stick with my 6+ for another year
