I'm loving my 7 Plus 256 but I my screen is more yellow at the bottom and it's actually weird to see the white behind text turn from yellow to white when scrolling.
This phone cost me over £1000 and it's going back.
I'll wait until a jet black turns up, I'll give it one QC chance and if it fails I'm going back to my One Plus 3.
The QC on these phones are a disgrace for the price, Apple won't care what I think but they should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree the QC is a disgrace. I'm amazed that this doesn't get more press. How does Apple get away with it?

Count me into the group that saw a noticeable difference between my unit and the display units. The genius agreed to swap me out under my 14 day return but of course there were no matte blacks in stock.

What about uneven backlight,my screen is warmer than my 6s+ but when held in portrait the left side is a bit brighter than the right.in certain light conditions it's barely noticeable.

Same problem here. Left or bottom is brighter and more yellow.

We on this forum make up such a small population of owners, most people in the wild are just happy to get the newest iPhone. They are not even going to notice.

If people can't notice a good screen over a bad screen, why does Apple advertise that they have improved the screens? Why not go back to the original iphone screen? No one would notice? I don't know man... I mean it does seem that people can't really notice. They are told what they have and then that's what they believe they have. So, Apple should put iphone 1 screens in and tell people they have these freaking awesome screens, and people will just believe it. Crazy!

I suspect the problems people on this forum have though are widespread, just because of how many replacements we go through and how many of us give up. So, it must be that people don't care or can't notice that their screen is half yellow and half white. haha!

The more yellowish display is because of the warmer tone, I understand that and if one looks at their prior 6s they will notice it is cooler and thus bluish. Pick one's preference.

What owners should notice is the display is not as bright, haven't seen a 7 matching the prior iPhones yet. That causes a battery drain if one likes a bright display and the light bulb should go off in their heads about that. :)

I've been watching this thread for the last week. I have just come back from the Apple store where I swapped my phone because of yellow issues. I went around the display phones with the Genius and he easily agreed that mine screen was far yellower and duller than all the display phones. My replacement is as bad if not worse so I will be returning that one at the weekend. I accept that the 7 is a warmer temp but the phones I have been given are noticeably warmer than all the display 7's. Why should I pay for something and receive a substandard product to what is on offer (the display phones)

We know the 7 display is warmer but people's issue is that there is such a discrepancy between products

Edit:

Just looked and both the phones I have had are from the same factory and same build week. Could this be the issue?

I have another appointment today and going to do the same thing. The display models at the store here are all beautiful and look like the 6s displays (not quite as cool, but not yellow tinted). I already showed an employee the difference on my 2nd returned phone compared to the displays and she saw it right away. I keep getting inferior phones. It's interesting that the other  store has some bad display models, but not the newly remodeled store. At least the employee believed me, such as in your case. It's truly amazing to see the difference between mine and the display units.

Update. So, I am no longer particularly convinced that my screen is improving. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me. This morning the uneven tint to the screen was really bugging me.

I guess I'll be sending it back.
[doublepost=1474964170][/doublepost]Apple will only let me order two iPhone 7's at a time. Otherwise I'd order 6 to compare. Whatever. I ordered 2 more. I'll have to wait a month. Ridiculous! Maybe I'll have a non-defective phone by the end of the year?

I am curious why so many people don't care about these issues, especially when Apple goes on and on about how great the screens are? It's mind-boggling! Guess what guys, the screens can't have amazing color accuracy when half the screen is a different color from the other half!

This is a really important post and Ive seen this many times before. People always try to claim their screen got better then wait a day or something and compare again only to find no change. I think sometimes when the phone gets hot its possible it looks a bit different but as soon as it cools off the tint is back.

For all those wondering if their tint will go away: it wont. This same thing, with people claiming it got better, happens every year.

Yup, I think my screen might change depending on how hot or cold the phone is or it might be my eyes or it might be the external lighting. I'm not sure. That one night I was having a really hard time seeing a problem. However, it's still there, and still bugs me when certain unknown factors are present.

I agree to some extent but when I became aware of the warmer more yellowish tone is when I began investigating.

Off to Apple stores, retailers and BB. My iPhone was more yellowish. Guess what, after a week those iPhones I checked on display at those places are more yellowish than mine now.

Who knows, those are on all day so I have no explanation.

This is how my 7 Plus look:

I'm curious to why people stick with a phone if they have to bother replacing it until they get the screen they like.......

Good question! For now the reason is that I have a mac, and I like the integration features.

However, if this kind of QC continues to be the norm, I might not buy a mac for my next computer.

no screen will look exactley the same. Even TV's need to have their screens calibrated... just fix the settings and live withyour phone until the next one.. they all have always had "yellow" screens. its just different screen calibrations.

Live streaming from the  store Comparison of my Black 7 Plus to a Gold 7 Plus. The picture makes the stores gold one look grey screened but it's a beautiful white, just like a 6S Plus.
It's not the best lighting and shadows but honestly there are some floor models that look dimmer than mine, but a few that look much whiter.

This could also be construed as a reason that photos can be misleading.

This thread makes me feel really lucky. My screen is an F2L, and looks great. No noticeable tint or yellowing in any direction. I don't have another camera (except for a iPhone 3G in a drawer somewhere) but I can assure you that some screens are good.

The thing I'm most annoyed with is my placement of the tempered glass screen protector isn't quite perfect.

I think this is just the warmer screen(like my iPhone 7+) as opposed to my iPhone 6 that is cooler toned screen. my opinion. I got used to the cooler screen color on my iPhone 6 so its hard to go back to a warmer screen

That tint at the bottom is insane. It's not just warmer, it's literally yellow at the bottom.

I'd have been stoked with either screen. More proof there is no "intentional warming" whatsoever.

Displaymate got a phone slightly warmer than their 6S, which is not surprising considering the variance we've seen in this thread. Whats more, 6700K would be a barely perceptible difference side by side. If your phone has a noticeable difference when placed next to a 6S on the settings screen, you got a bad/tinted phone.
