Have any of you made a Genius appointment where you were able to successfully swap out your phone for a cooler screen? I have an appointment tonight.

This might be the dimmest yet.

I would suggest turning auto brightness ON and do a reboot. Fixed it for me once.

'Reset all settings' seemed to do the trick, but it's still not as bright as display models or 6/6s. Thanks for the advice guys. I have a genius appointment in 30 min. I'm still curious as to why the display models are whiter and brighter than mine.

They and cherry picked...

Just got mine and was glad to see that the screen is not yellow.. seems to look closer to my iPad Pro but still a tiny bit on the blue side... not nearly as bad as my 6s though... this display looks nicer then that for sure.

I just got a 7+, JB 128GB and seem to have this yellow screen. It is noticeably dimmer than my 6S+.

Both phones are auto-brightness off and set to maximum.

Here is mine... to me the six s just looks way to blue... but my 7 still looks a little blue compared to my iPad Pro

It's really weirdbut taking a phone seems to take the blue out... so it looks like white vs yellow... but in reality it's white vs blue

Clearly it looks like your 7 is normal then. It's just the camera that's picking it up. Are you sure you don't have True Tone turned on for the ipad Pro?

Man you need to get that iPad swapped.

Oh you thought this was just iphones? Nope, its every singe Apple product. They always ship some with yellow screens. That iPad screen is way off brotha, hit the genius bar for a replacement.

The photo makes it look yellow... it's not... it looks more natural white... the phone actually looks really blue compared to the iPad.. for some reason the photo strips out of the blue and makes the blue one look more white and the white one looks more yellow.

Holding my iPad next to the photo of it doesn't look the same at all... I love the color of my iPad Pro.

I kind of wonder if part of the yellow gate issue is how people see things... I've always thought that up until the iPad Pro and iPhone 7 that iOS displays have always been painfully blue looking.... I've only been using my 7 for a few hours and now when I go back and look at the 6s the blueness hurts me to the point of wondering if something is wrong with that display... so it might just be the way that people see things... maybe some people see blue a lot better and others see yellow a lot better..

But then after using my iPad my iPhone 7 seems blue... but not nearly as bad as the 6s

Haven't read through all the pages, but I'll add my experience.

Got my 7+ delivered straight from China in 4 days - arrived last Monday the 19th. At first, it was dimmer than my 6s plus, and had a distinct yellow tint - almost dark urine look.

Well, 1 week later, and my 7+ is now brighter than my 6splus, and the yellow is almost gone. Looks great now!

That's exactly how mine looks.  employees didn't know anything about it including the genius bar guys. They claim that the display phones are all calibrated the same and maybe that is why mine looks different. In one store there are a few models that look like mine, but there's one that looks perfect. Then at another store they all look perfect and much different than mine. There are definitely different displays out there.

I hope mine does that. Good to hear it's better for you!

Im going to compare my screen to my 6s+ to the iPad mini 4. iPad mini 4 should have the superior color gamut.

I noticed something earlier today. When viewed at different angles, areas of the screen can appear to have a darker tint or a more yellow cast. So you may notice an overall uneven tint/brightness even when looking at the screen straight on. Particularly the bottom part of the screen. This is noticeable in photos as well.

Something to keep in mind while you scrutinize your phones. The less you think about it, the more you can enjoy your new phones!

A question out there....would you rather have a consistent non-yellow screen for all phones (from same supplier and tougher QC) and not be able to get a phone for a couple of months after launch because of supply issues OR have the QC issues we have now and swap until you get a good one? I think I would rather wait and know I am getting a high quality consistent product.

I vote consistency and qc. I think people have let apple get away with this for many years and now they are addicted to the revenue.

I'll go ahead an entertain this thread with my experience. I got my phone around lunch time today, and yes I could see this slight yellowish tint to the whites of the display when I powered it on for the first time(Nightshift was not on). About 12 hours in with usage, the yellowish tint has gone away it seems completely. It's weird, but I'm happy with the results at this point lol.

It's already been established that auto brightness needs to be ON for the 7 to reach max brightness under light. Go outside in the sun or shine a light on your devices. The 7 is a lot brighter. The end user can't manually set this brightness.

Correct! It's a shame though, I genuinely would never use auto brightness. Would be nice to have a toggle in CC though..

Update. So, I am no longer particularly convinced that my screen is improving. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me. This morning the uneven tint to the screen was really bugging me.

I guess I'll be sending it back.
[doublepost=1474964170][/doublepost]Apple will only let me order two iPhone 7's at a time. Otherwise I'd order 6 to compare. Whatever. I ordered 2 more. I'll have to wait a month. Ridiculous! Maybe I'll have a non-defective phone by the end of the year?

I am curious why so many people don't care about these issues, especially when Apple goes on and on about how great the screens are? It's mind-boggling! Guess what guys, the screens can't have amazing color accuracy when half the screen is a different color from the other half!
