The yellow screen "issue" has presented itself for at least the past five years if not longer. Apple hasn't said anything about before and likely never will. Most people don't notice or don't care, so they really don't need to say anything.

Well, by nature, changing the color temperature of the display does indeed change every single color. You're not just changing one single color, you're changing the way that all the colors relate to each other. (Not sure if that's the best way to describe it, but there it is).

Now, does it affect battery life? No clue, but I wouldn't think so.

Yes but some these pictures people are posting here are yellow tint and some even more yellow tint than others. It not quality control the yellow tint is like this color the yellow tint is at all. Some have more yellow tint than others and some really yellow.

No quality control at all making the screen and setting the color.

How can the yellow tint contrast so much. Like I say some have yellow tint and some yellow tint worse than other yellow tint. No No quality control.

From left to right: My first iPhone 7+ matte black. Then my jet black 7+ I got my hands on today. Then an iPhone 7. All settings are the same. Unacceptable.
That's disgusting pee yellow imo. Especially the Jet Black on in the middle. Clearly not uniform either.

That is friggin ridiculous

To be fair, it does not appear that bad to my natural eye. I think the camera I used to take the picture (iPhone 6) may have made it look a bit worse than it really is. Nonetheless, email was sent to Tim Cook. I'm frustrated because the original plan was to return the matte black after I grabbed the Jet Black this afternoon (I purchased the matte black on launch day so the return deadline is approaching), but now I'm not sure what to do. I don't want the deadline to pass and end up stuck with it. Genius bars had no appointment's available tomorrow but I may stop by anyway. Do they even have replacement Jet Black's available?

Edit: Wait a second, I think night shift might have popped on right before I took those pictures.

I replaced the iPhone 7 Plus just once for a color exchange ( a matte black instead of silver). The Silver was insanely yellow. But I settled. This matte black is better but I'm not sure if I'm completely satisfied.

Here's a pic of the iPhone 6s and 7 Plus....though the color is not extremely yellow, it's significantly warmer then my 6s Plus. Would you change it? Should I risk it? This screen isn't horrible but when it's beside my 6s Plus, it annoys me.

i feel like mine looks a lot more like the right one than the left and i have 7+

couldn't hurt to try another, but if worried about it hold onto yours try another and take the better one with peace of mind, or keep going / give up at that point :D

The 7 display is warmer than the 6 by design.

What some are calling yellow is just a warmer calibration so it's less blue-ish.

I got my JB7+ today and it's warmer, but brighter and ever slightly more saturated.

Mine does look warmer but definitely not as bad as other people are reporting. Considering there is no hiss. (Very faint one when I put it in my ear, same as most Electronics) I'll just keep it. What do you guys think about the screen? I just received the phone this morning. So far no complains.

Definitely warm but mines is as well and I don't have the hissing on my phone as well. I'll keep mines. I just wish it was a cooler tint like my 6s Plus was.

Yeah. Put it next to my 6S plus it definitely is warmer, but that much to really bother me and if I forget about the 6S plus I stop noticing.

It's funny that many prefer the more unnatural cool, blue-ish tint over the more neutral warmer display of the 7.

I don't really have a preference and it probably won't matter once my eyes and memory get accustomed to the 7 after some day to day use.

This has happened ever since Apple released the 3G. remember lots of people complaining that the 3G was yellower than the original. The 4 went back to bluer..... is just different screen. If I went from my iPhone 7+, to my 6S+, to my Surface Pro 4, to my living room TV, iPad, etc. every screen has a different temperature. Doesn't mean it is bad quality. Is just a personal preference and well, it sucks if you don't like how what you got. We get to used to the screen of the previous iPhone that the new one looks so much different. Doesn't mean it's bad. Like said. Some colors might even come more natural with the warmer calibration

Color temperature and saturation between my MBPr, iPhone Mini 4, iPhone 6S, and iPhone 7 are all different. Some lean warmer, some lean cooler. I'd say this is normal, personally, not some defect.

Just wait till Apple goes AMOLED. People are completely going to lose their ****. That display tech plays by a completely different set of rules, and if you've never owned a Samsung prior, the differences are startling.

That looks like mine with a yellower hue at the bottom. After 4 iPhone 7 Plus' I don't think I'll get one that looks as nice as the beautiful white display models. I still don't know why most displays look like my old 6S Plus. Maybe they are cherry picked or maybe they are the exception to the warm screens.

Did you even bother to look at the thread before you trying to do any PR for Apple?

Warm is fine, Yellow tint isn't. Most people here complains about Yellow tint, not warm color. 6500k Color temp does not generate yellow image, rather just warm. People also complain about the yellow tint at BOTTOM of the screen, but not anywhere.

Hope you finally learn what this thread is about.

I find it hard to believe that people are still saying the 7 is intentionally warmer. Considering all the variation we have seen in this thread, just because Displaymate tested one phone at 6700k does not mean Apple is making the 7 intentionally warmer. Also, 6700K vs 7000k would be a nearly imperceptible difference.

All Displaymates test confirms is that that one single iphone 7 was slightly different then their one single iphone 6s. Thats the end of what it proves.

I've been watching this thread for the last week. I have just come back from the Apple store where I swapped my phone because of yellow issues. I went around the display phones with the Genius and he easily agreed that mine screen was far yellower and duller than all the display phones. My replacement is as bad if not worse so I will be returning that one at the weekend. I accept that the 7 is a warmer temp but the phones I have been given are noticeably warmer than all the display 7's. Why should I pay for something and receive a substandard product to what is on offer (the display phones)

We know the 7 display is warmer but people's issue is that there is such a discrepancy between products

Edit:

Just looked and both the phones I have had are from the same factory and same build week. Could this be the issue?

  • Factory: DNP - China, Chengdu (Foxconn)

  • Year: 2016

  • Week: 36 (05.09 - 11.09)
My phone was from that exact range; DNP week 36. Yellow as can be and also not uniformly yellow; horrible horrible tint.

Still waiting for my replacement; If I'm lucky I will be receiving it by the end of next week. Hopefully a nice, newly produced good screen. Otherwise It'll be send right back.

Am also looking at the Galaxy S7 Edge as a potential replacement phone, since my iCloud account also seems to be bugged out and causing major battery drain in combination with a watch. Might be done with Apple after all this time.

The majority of reviews are indicating their test units have warmer displays than then iPhone 6.

It's not a conspiracy.

I have not been talking about a "warmer" screen in this thread at all. I have been talking about yellow screens without uniformity. Top is yellow, bottom even yellower. That's what is annoying. I know full well what a warmer 65k screen is supposed to look like, I only have calibrated screens at home, and yes; the iPhone 6 was incredibly blue. But the 7 looked yellow even compared to a 65k calibrated display, that's just way too yellow.

Of course there is no conspiracy, where have I claimed such a thing? I just think I have to send back Apple products way too often because of QC issues, so it might be time to look elsewhere if this is going to take a while once again.

Unfortunately your posting history is publicly available. You specialize in complaining about Apple products and yet you keep buying them. Or maybe you're just really unlucky...

At some point you have to consider it might not be Apple with the problem.
