Just got my replacement from T-Mobile and its looking much better than my previous phone. Think I may have gotten a winner (C6)

Congratulations on your good fortune. However, it should not be that way. One should not have to exchange or replace in search of "a good one." I have been following several threads here and it would seem that getting an iPhone 7 that matches its design is a stroke of luck and that it is common for users to compromise. For a premium brand that underscores its attention to detail and describes its creations using adjectives like magical and incredible, excellent units should be normal and subpar or defective units a rare occurrence.

ipp is not yellowish even at low brightness. incidentally that pic is under 2600k LED lighting.

That's close to the my color my 7+ is roughly. Do you have a 6s to put the iPad next to? That's what people are referring to that the 7 seems yellow compared to the 6s. I'd like to see the IPP next to a 6s on that settings screen out of curiosity.

Just tried another and no luck. Maybe ill just skip the 7. I feel the build quality overall is a step back. Its like Apple is banking margin for the true upgrade next year.

LMAO perhaps the 7 is not the issue. QC on the 7 is way better than 6 and 6s.

So exchanged my 7 with the yellow tint at the bottom today at the Apple Store. It bothered me too much while scrolling and typing.

My new one is now uniform. No gap at the top, no hissing, no nothing, just perfect.

New one:
  • Factory: DNP - China, Chengdu (Foxconn)
  • Year: 2016
  • Week: 38 (19.09 - 25.09)
  • Age: Infant
(Pretty interesting, as apparently the week 38 ones seem to have a lot of problems, too)

Old one:

  • Factory: DNQ - China, Chengdu (Foxconn)
  • Year: 2016
  • Week: 37 (12.09 - 18.09)
  • Age: Infant

So it was build in another factory I guess: DNP vs. DNQ.

BTW I'm in Europe so maybe we europeans get the phones from other factories, because I have seen so many people with those F2 serial numbers.

Chrizzz09, can you point me in the right direction of the website that decodes your serial or IMEI # please?

The first two letters and/or digits of the serial number represent the "factory and machine." But the problems reported here seem to be so widespread and varied in degree that I doubt that they are related to place and date of manufacture. Perhaps the pressures to launch the iPhone earlier than last year, increase production to meet unexpected demand, and reduce costs by squeezing component suppliers for lower prices may have had an impact on quality.

You dont know they have different kelvin ratings. All we know is that displaymates personal 7 had a different kelvin rating than displaymates personal 6s. So for those two phones only, there is a difference. Get it?

Also if your ipad looks different than others its a defect. its not meant to be warmer either.

Being that the 7's display is DisplayMate's best LCD ever tested, this is further proof that 7's displays are supposed to be warmer to reproduce more accurate colors, not the other way around.

Chalk it up as coincidence, but my 6s was noticeably cooler than all of the iPhone 7's displayed at the Apple Store. My 7+ is warmer comparatively, as well.

No point proving that guy wrong. He lives in his own bubble. He will just insist there are 7s as blue as the 6s despite all proofs indicate the warmer tone was intended. Stubborn and OCD is what I call it and wanting something (blue tone) that's not even accurate calibration wise.

You can call it whatever you want but im not accepting a phone with half uneven tint on it. Also If you want to beleive warmer is intentional despite these phones looking exactly like the phones of the last 10 years that have had this tint its on you. Theres a mountain of evidence that this is simply manufacturing variance and the same as every year. And every year people who dont want to admit their phone is defective try to claim its intentional.

I will. Busy evening/day, but I'll get it up as soon as I can.
Pretty funny he would post that, as if a picture on a forum viewed on a variety of screens means anything close to "proof". Forget he basically called you a liar, very classy typical Macrumors.

You're still barking? Until you can show me a 7 with the same tone as the 6s, you have no valid point period.

Plenty of pics in this thread go take a look. I cant hold your hand through this youll have to do your own research.

Its not that i care if the phone is 6500k but thats not the issue. 6500k is a fraction warmer than the old phones. Hasnt been the issue since the start of this. What i dont want is people saying that the yellow or any tint is the same as the phones "intentionally warmer" when they are two different things. Weather or not a 7 exists at 7000k is irrelevant, the point is it shouldnt be tinted.

That is what makes no sense why some iPhone 7's are really white and why some are yellow and some even more yellow than other yellow iPhone 7's.

It cannot be how it set up or the way the color is set up because you have some white, light yellow and some dark yellow.

It has to be the way the screen is made or who is making the screen.
