Yep...me too. My 6S is considerably brighter and cooler than the display of my 7. I'm hoping it's the supposed glue issue that needs settling. If not, I'm definitely going to exchange it.

What a disappointment!

Wife and I just upgraded from 5Ss to 7s so we thought we'd at least notice positive improvements in the camera. It is horrible!

Side by side with 5S the camera is grainier with annoying static at any zoom level, less sharp and much yellower.

The iPhone 7 display is very yellow throughout, and certainly not brighter, sometimes clearly less bright than 5S. I tried that color tint fix but that just made it bluer and then it really looked a lot less bright.

Wife uses camera more than anything, so she wants to return and stick with 5S (though battery dies too fast and she always runs out of space for pictures/videos). I need the CPU speed bump and don't use camera too much, so I guess I will live with it, but not happy about it.

I have never before bought an iPhone at launch day so I'm not sure how this sort of thing gets resolved and how I can best navigate the problem. Will keep an eye on this thread, but the 14-day return period window will come quickly...

Indeed the 7 and 7 Plus display looks a bit yellow as I compared my 6S Plus to the display model of the 7 Plus at the Apple store and indeed it was yellow. However. I pretty much prefer this over the blue tint. When I get my 7 Plus Matte Black 128 GB, I will not compare and will just use it as it is.

Ughhh. I've always see complaints year to year about yellow screens, backlight issues, etc. But first time I noticed it (I tend not to be too obsessive over these details), but the 7 Plus I just setup has a yellow tint on the bottom left corner and greyish tint toward the top right corner. Very obvious on white screens. Now I can't unseen it unfortunately.

Here's the screen with non-uniform white:

Man, wacky looking brightness on my 7 Plus compared to my 6s. With one of the built in wallpapers I can't read the clock. Same brightness level.

And with max brightness on both:

I guess I'm one of the few who actually likes the yellow-toned distplay? Feels easier on my eyes. I promise I'm not an old person lol.

It just be that the new 7 panel is P3. It might be calibrated to a slightly warmer tone. I will have to see if I can compare to my Son 6S to see if the 7 is much warmer? My 7plus on its own, color is perfectly fine with me.

I have notice that most people have their bottom of the screen much more yellow than it suppose to be.

Mine also have much heavier yellow tint at the bottom, even with filter color it's still yellow. Pretty sure something is mess up really big this time. And this isn't about screen color temperature anymore, it's purely quality control.

Look guys, it really doesn't even have much to do with Apple. It is the upstream manufacturer, which is LG or Samsung, or possibly another screen manufacturer.

My Samsung 4K TV also has a yellow blotch in the middle of the screen, as does my friends', as does many of the units I see at Best Buy on display.

For whatever reason, there are just yellow displays, and displays with blotches.

It isn't glue, it isn't calibration, it isn't anything except a yellow display.

Those upstream makers have yet to eliminate the problem, and Apple is not rejecting displays because of it. You, as a consumer, have the option to return/exchange if you are within the return period. It's as simple as that. If you are not satisfied, then return/exchange/live with it.

I have seen screens with all levels of yellow, some with even a reddish tint, and some with a blue tint. It's just a manufacturing variable. It's not like there is a white screen, and a yellow screen, and nothing in between.
This guy is exactly right. It's the nature of the beast with how lcd's are made. Some come out this way. I went through 7 iPhone 6's until I got one without a yellow or dark splotch in some part of the screen. I'm really nervous about when my iPhone 7 comes since it appears they are STILL using the same displays and probably same manufacturers!! Crossing my fingers I get a uniform one on the first go. Once you see the dark or yellow area it's hard to unsee it and t drives you nuts. Good luck everyone!

What is weird is when I first powered up my wife's phone from the box it was pretty white at the screen with the black apple logo... not as white as the 6 but not bad.

I just rebooted it again after she's had it for a day. It's gone through the intial setup, app downloads, OS updates... but this time when I powered it up that initial screen with the apple logo was very dim and very warm colored.

Weird

The one with the "service" and the warmer screen is my guess;--) To be fair though: Proper white balance is tough to represent in posted photos so the true color might be a bit different in real life. Still though...the difference is striking!
6S vs 7 comparison. Guess which one is the 7...

I was just at the apple store today and was playing with one of the regular 7's and noticed it had a really yellow/brown tint. I laid my wife's 6s next to it for comparison (see photo at the top of this post). The same night and day difference as in your photo. I checked and none of the new color filters had been turned on. The displays on the other 7's in the Store looked more like the 6s. So, there does seem to be some variability amongst the displays.

Idk I never had an iPhone before this one. But it's brighter then my galaxy s7 was.
Pretty sure the S7 uses a similar display as the Note 7. S7 is definitely brighter than the iPhone 7.

iPhone 7 on the left and Note 7 on the right.

Definitely backs up my theory that launch phones are susceptible to yellow screens, and that the good screens do exist.

I miss my 5s :(
