Went to apple store today compared 3 SE's to mine, none of them had a yellow screen or yellow top of the screen, all had uniform neutral tint where white looks white.
Now is that because the units in store are on all the time and the yellow is gone?

I thought mine had a slight yellow tint at the top a few days ago but I just checked it now and it's either gone or wasn't there to begin with.. Either way I'm not complaining.

Yellow is ok as long as it's evenly yellow accross the entire screen.

I got mine today it's not as worse as OP but I have a yellow band on top, damn apple! everything else was perfect.

I might buy a second one and keep the best one.

That's what I would do, if it were me. I wouldn't feel comfortable chancing it, unless I had no choice.
Mine two are on theire way.. ill hope they are well otherwise i just call them and say i don't want any iphone se.. after some days i can order again lol

After reading most of the thread I had to sign up you give my experience,
After receiving my launch day 6s plus was exited to check out the display especially coming from a 5s.
So I powered up the new device and was shocked at how dull , lifeless and slightly yellow the display looked and had to
power up the 5s to confirm my suspicions.
Not very long after maybe a few days the display looked way better and after a couple of weeks looked very close to my 5s.
I am not sure if my eyes were adjusting or if the display really had started to change colour.

Around the time Night Shift was introduced I noticed my display had a cool blue tint to it (Night Shift off) when previously
it was much warmer.
Again I am not sure if after using Night Shift (Very warm setting) and then turning it of again tricked my eyes making the display seem cooler.

I can turn up the Night Shift slider from cool to around a third of the way up and the display looks almost perfect to me and leave it on permanently, but then loose the benefit of sunset to sunrise option because I like the slider set to around three quarters up i.e. very warm.
Anyway I can live with the new cooler looking display, Its no better or worse just different.

Glad I got that of my chest.

Thanks for reading

thank you for your contribution and welcome to the forums.

I had a similar experience with my 5s, my screens is still yelloish but since they released nightshift, when its off my screen is cooler than before.

Of course you didn't notice it if you compared your SE to other SE's. Compare it to the 6S or 6S+ and then you see the yellow. Every single SE at the Apple store that I looked at was yellow in comparison.

If its just the top portion of the screen, I believe that's the glue that will cure and disappear
Its not glue but the led back-light powering the LCD. I bought two iPhone SE and both had the yellow tint at the top of the screen.

BTW, for the first time ever (and I've had screen issues on every iPhone since the iP4, went through 6 (!!) iPhone 6Ss) the yellowing on the top of the screen went away, at least for the most part. Was it glue? I have no idea.

After seeing this thread I did notice some VERY SLIGHT yellowing along the top. More noticeable when viewing a white screen in landscape mode (then seen on the left if tilting counter-clockwise). I compared it to my relatively new 5S that I got about 3 months ago for work. Has the exact same "issue", if you can call it that.

Verdict: if I wasn't an MR member, I'd never notice the yellowing. That tells me it's not really an issue for me. Definitely not worth taking back my baby to the Apple Store.

The Internet made me paranoid for a second, there. I'm over it now. :)

You can use an app called dead spotter, you'll see a full white screen and it's easier to see if you're affected with this issue.

Don't do it if you're happy with your device.

I got my 2 iphone se' today. So far I don't see any yellow screen on them. But the rattle are there if you shake your phone only which it doesn't bother me.
