Here's comparing it to my excellent dell latitude with its WLED 1920x1080 (15.6") screen.

The blurriness on the laptop screen is due to focus.

Photo is lacking any serious detail since I took it with my Nexus S instead of a proper camera.

The screen in the back is the laptop (left of the photo), while the new ipad is on the right.

I am keeping mine just sold my white iPad 2 and moving forward, really love the camera for eBay so it's worth it to me.

What is the return/exchange date for yellow tint? Do I have to exchange it within 14 days of purchase/

Yep i got my ipad three and put it next to my ipad 2 and there is a huge difference!!! I really dont want to take it back to find there is no more but dude!

edit the left is the ipad 2 ---also not too impressed with retina yet since all webpages are pretty clear anyway?

It looks like you got a proper white one.

I tried 5 of them. 3 of them were all yellow tint like crazy.

But I found like 4 different shades of yellow while looking at the customers next to me too. I'm really disappointed in the quality control of the screens =/

One of them looked okay but still really bothered me.

I'm curious, has it been established anywhere yet that this new warmer temperature is a defect that actually negatively affects your ipad experience?

For all you know the previous gens were 'too cool' :D and this is a more natural temperature?

Anyway, color calibration of screens involves a lot of factors, there is never a one size fits all solution if you're going to be using it for color correct photo processing.

I can definitely see the yellowish tint but does it matter? You can't tell unless you out it beside another display and I don't mind the screen being yellow. It makes it seem warmer. The retina display is still amazing. Very happy with my iPad 3.

Mine has a very yellow tint to it.

It seems to be a bit splotchy so I will chalk it up to the adhesive.... If it doesn't go away by next week then I'll look to trade it for a new one

I can't really notice much difference. It doesn't really bother me at least. Maybe people can tell me if they think mine is incredibly yellow:

The iPad 2 is on the left and new iPad on the right.

Yellow tint

I think anyone who has a yellow tint has a right to complain.I just compared my new iPad to my iPad 1 and my iPad 2 and the new one definitely has a yellow tint but what's worse is when I take a picture with my ipad2 and take the same pic with my new one guess what? The picture from the new one has a yellow tint which to me is total BS! I never realized why people were complaining but now I do.Does it really go away after a few days or is that wishful thinking?

My new iPad most definitely has a warmish/reddish tint, and this is in direct side-by-side comparison to my iPad 2. The iPad 2 has a cooler overall color and better whites, IMO.

So far (admittedly only an hour or so), I like the retina display for text, but I like the iPad 2 better for color. Like others have said, it's especially noticeable on white/grey pages. Now, maybe I just need to get used to it, but I noticed it within seconds of booting it up and without doing the side-by-side comparison.

It's kind of annoying. If my eyes don't adjust it might be going back.

Yours look fine to me, some of the folks have very yellow ones. They are all different shades, some are acceptable, some are not.

I just want one with a uniform colored screen. All yellow or all white, just not a patch of yellow at one side of the screen and some white at the other side.

Mine's also yellowy warm. Probably another stupid LG screen instead of Sammy. Either that or Apple is going all in with warm calibrated screens.

This is mine, the top one is my new iPad, the bottom one is iPad 2. I do feel that the screen is yellow and while viewing the background of MacRumors forum, it looks yellow.

Question - Should I ask for an exchange?

This new iPad is otherwise perfect, no back light bleeding, no dead pixel, and the retina display is awesome.

Since all of them have at least some yellow tint to it I'm worried if I try to exchange mine that I will get one that is even more noticeably yellow.

I honestly can't notice it too much unless I compare it to my iPad 2 or iMac side by side.

A lot of these pics look like the new iPad has the same warm temperature that mine does. Maybe this was intended?

I keep reading about the photo/graphics pros preferring a warmer monitor. Trying to figure out if it's supposed to be like this.

I'm going to keep mine for a couple of weeks and see. Maybe it's just a warmth that I need to get used to. Photos look gorgeous on it, it's just on whiter screens like websites, ebooks and settings pages where it seems to stand out more.

Yellow tint can be fixed

I am from Australia and thought i'll share something to you guys.

I've been following this thread for quite sometime.

For those of you who are not happy with the yellow tint of your new ipad, i suggest you keep it and wait for a jailbreak to come out so that you can install a "Color Profile" tweak. I don't think its a faulty panel at all, like someone said in the previous post, it can be resolved by tweaking the colour profile.

Here is an example that I've put together using my ipad 1 (sorry for the poor camera work) which originally had a really yellow tint to it.

Hope this helps.

Personally, I'd prefer the default profile.

I took my new iPad and the wife's iPad 2, ran the brightness all the way up and looked at the same screens on each.

The difference is so slight that it doesn't bother me and doesn't make me want to exchange it.

Mine is going straight back.

Had a massive yellow tint, people on pictures looked really sick.
And the display in my iPad 2 is much brighter.
