If you have nothing to compare it to ala an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4/4S you won't notice..

What'd I'd like to know/see is if anyone with a new iPad has similar hue/color/blue/cool screen. This yellow tint could just be the norm for ALL new iPads.

Unfortunately you're correct. I first thought it was my imagination-looking at the home screen. Then I did a side by side photo comparison of a picture of my grandsons sitting in a field of bluebonnets, and my iPad 2 is cooler and the new iPad is yellowish. Turning off auto brightness helps mute the yellow.

I have a second iPad that is finishing the restore from backup. I wonder if both new iPads will be the same.

In any event my eyes told me- this seems yellow and holding it side by side with the iPad 2 confirms it. So don't put them side by side if that will bug you.

iPad yellow

The yellow tint is enough to bother me. My iPad 2 is cooler, and my iPhone is cooler. (whiter whites) I will be exchanging and hoping for the best. It's a disappointment to wait, and follow this product, pay close to a 1000 for it and to get a display that looks like someone pissed on the glass prior to adhesion.

I bought one at Walmart just after midnight, and it's fine. The one I pre-ordered arrived at 9:48am and it's fine. The one I bought for my wife was very yellow, so I took it to my local Apple store after work and they replaced it.

The first replacement they took out of the box, was just as yellow. The second replacement was fine. The good news is Apple has tons of inventory, so getting one replaced is very fast and easy.

By the way, the genius said it's not glue or bonding agent that needs to dry like on the iPad 2 I got last year. This time it's different. So if you have a yellow one, get it replaced. Apple is taking them back.

Left is new iPad.

So your's the the two others on the page page. Before even reading the post, I "eyed" which one is more accurate. And each one was the New iPad.

For example looking at your picture, the one on the left is more accurate to 6500k.

The one on the right is probably in the 8000-9000k range.

I am sure some of you have a right to complain, and probably do have a very yellow tint. Or maybe blame Apple for using very "cool" color temps on their products (even though the MBP that I am typing was the closest out of the box laptop I have owned, but still far far off of proper calibration).

Again, what most people relate to white in display's is not white at all. But actually very very blue.

Here try this (again haven't pulled out the new iPad, but I will post some grayscale charts etc...).

Grayscale Pattern

Check out the above link. If you still have your old iPad compare pattern on both. The pattern should be completely free of color and only show black/white/shades of gray. Now the challenge with this pattern, is blue error will be very hard to see. But still, will give you some info on how bad the grayscale is on your iPad.

Okay, I'd like to get this said while we're just a few posts in:

The yellow tint goes away when the digitizer adhesive cures.

If you still have a yellow-ish screen in a week or two, go swap it out at :apple:.

This is the first iDevice I have even slightly noticed it on. It looks perfect straight-on, but when you tilt it at an angle it gets yellower. I have no idea what a digitizer adhesive is, but I know I saw threads before launch about "yellow tint doesn't mean your iPad is flawed." Guess I'll wait a couple of weeks and see if it continues. I had a dead pixel on my iPad 2, and Apple swapped it out about three weeks later.

At first I thought I had a yellowish tint on mine. I turned the brightness up, and compared it to my other devices, and it looks the same - in terms of any type of tint.

I think I know what's going on... It looks like the majority of the displays are Samsung. But there are supposedly a small amount of LG displays mixed in. With LG expected to increase their numbers in coming months.

The original screen on the ipad 1 and ipad 2 is LG. And it has the nice cool blue look. The few people that are popping up saying there screen is fine, etc., I think have gotten the LG.

I hate the yellowish hue!

so what procedure do I have to get it replaced? I bought it from Apple online store. Can I go to any apple store and get it replaced?

Interesting, but Ive always thought LG were the culprit for yellow screens. So maybe you have it backwards.

I just got back from the Apple store and whooooo hoooo mine is perfectly fine. It is not as warm as some here are posted a bit actually cool. No dead pixels. It doesn't have any major bleed there is a tiny bit as that is normal but NOTHING like last years, and trust me I went through hell last year finding a decent one. I was one of the biggest critics on the whole "backlight bleed" fiasco but I think they got it right this time. I haven't seen any that look THAT bad so far.

I was actually scared to get one thinking it'd be the same thing all over again but all is well.

Although usually true when shipped directly from China, a lot of the preorders have been sitting in the US for almost a week at FedEx centers and probably sitting in China for another week. I hope it's just the glue drying but there have been some cases of a permanent yellow tint. OP, try not holding it next to another iPad and see if the yellow tint is there.

Check the manufacture date. Glue should be dry if it was manufactured in January or February.

Mine is warmer than my iPhone 4 but zero dead pixels and zero light bleed so I'm hesitant to exchange it. Speaker volume has me more worried.

Compared to my iPad 2 and 1, the new iPad is definitely warmer. However, I kinda like it since it's easier on my eyes. I'm most likely keeping it since there is absolutely no light bleeds and no dead/stuck pixels.

Call Customer Care. They are very helpful. Mine has bad yellowing on 1/4 of the screen. They emailed a return label and when the iPad is received, they will Fed Ex the replacement.

oops i got my ipad at microcenter so i didnt have to wait in a line. i wonder if apple store would exchange me a new one...
