Now tmobile’s twitter says eligible account types haven’t changed and they’re working on the issue…lol.

“Oh buddy that screenshot was so helpful! It pointed me right to what is happening. There is a known issue going on with that process right now. We are aware of it and trying to figure out what is happening currently. There is nothing that changed with our eligible account types, or nothing you are doing wrong. We don't have an ETA on it but know we are working on it to get a resolution as quickly as we can. Does that make sense? ^KevinHall”

That very well may be true too but the thing is we know that there is going to be a huge rush - with no guarantees that it will work on Friday. That’s why the pre check exists in the first place. What would happen is I’d have gone to order Friday and it wouldn’t work and I’d be still in that frustrating situation.

I bet it has to do with the esim thing too. Maybe gsa and other account types can not currently be activated with an esim

I finally got a supervisor on Twitter who is willing to recode my account to Individual from GSA (which they verified wasn't giving me any discounts anyway) and once that is complete I will try the pre-order process again and report back.

Rep just finished changing mine to Individual-Regular, and the prepare for pre-order (Pre-pre order?) went through this time with carrier activation selected.

See what happens when they communicate / why was it so hard to extract that information from a rep? And why did it have to come from a random rep from Facebook? This is what is so frustrating to average consumers

another rep is telling me in order to get out from being “individual / sole proprietor“ is to recreate my entire account lol.

I'm a T-Mobile employee, last 2 years never had an issue getting pre approved and completing the upgrade on pre order day. Have been on the same account "type" which in my case has the Special/Emplyee tag. Having the same issue as everyone here, and just received this response:
Well, I’m guessing us employees can’t do the IUP anymore. Which sucks. Mine isn’t working and my coworker’s neither.

Employee here too. I doubt that’s the case because the iUP program was designed to allow you to upgrade once a year, if they did remove our account from being eligible that means I will have to keep this current device and pay off the balance, which defeats the whole purpose of being on iUP.

I think the problem you lot are now having is that your all suffering from T-Mobile employee level of experience and knowledge because some of you when dealing with a T-Mobile rep are getting things to work but then others who get different T-Mobile reps are being told completely different things. Some reps are saying they can change the account type over, others are saying they can't, some are saying it should be working, others are saying wait till Friday.

It would seem it is pot luck if you get a rep that knows what they are doing and one that does not, hence the frustration some of you are feeling. Maybe you lot need to get onto their twitter feed and point this out that there is a clear disparity between the companies reps on the ones that know what they are doing and the ones that don't, meaning the companies training methods are rubbish or the people the company hire are rubbish. Management needs to know this.

This is accurate! Ok my account was individual - gsa account when moved to an individual- regular class it worked. Now I am good and pre order ready
MVP status right there. Contacted them, seems my account was GSA even though I left that years ago and I haven't got a GSA discount in years, they changed it, and now it works.

I had a vestigial GSA account to which I was unaware from the state I resided in prior to here. As others are saying, when my that GSA was removed and my account was modified to an individual account the pre-order went through. Now, how do I cancel the iPhone I agreed to buy ...‽‽‽ Perhaps two phones will show up on Friday. Or maybe I just don't proceed with the purchase from Apple?

I am on an amplified plan which has no discounts. My account says GSA. Rep is telling me they can change it to individual regular and it wouldn't effect my plan. Is that seem right?

Yes that should work

Confirmed that changing from individual-gsa to individual-regular immediately fixed the problem.

Can also confirm that removing the GSA association on my account (which wasn't providing any discounts on my account) and converting to an individual account, while retaining my military status, allowed me to immediately process my pre-order reservation on the Apple Store app. Twitter support is the way to go with T-Mobile so if you are experiencing the same issue you may want to reach out to them and use this forum to help you if you need some support.

Yes, that is right probably for all of us. The GSA benefits, at least for me were legacy/vestigial and offer no discounts or perks.

The challenge is finding a rep that will help you. I am speaking to one now and they say they cannot change the classification as it will mess up other stuff, like my plan discounts, bill date etc.

Exactly. It’s probably a glitch. But only individual regular accounts are working now. Us employee/special accounts won’t work.

I reached out on Twitter. They confirmed I am Individual-Government or whatever. However, she couldn’t change the status, just told me to call the Business number. Called that, got a marketing rep…WTH. She couldn’t even see my account. No on hold with 611-Billing. Please tell me now if this will be a waste of time too. I’m lost.
