I'm on the phone with them trying to remove my gov't discount since it doesn't apply to any lines anyway.

Yeah - my govt discount only saves me $1.05 each month off of my upgraded 4-screen Netflix on us. I tried reaching out on Messenger to have them remove it and they're giving me a hassle.

Waiting on the phone with them for 30 minutes only to have them tell me that no one could remove the discount so that's pretty annoying.

People have said that in previous years they have had no trouble upgrading and that is with the existing account type they have but since then there was the data breach and now for those that it worked before are finding it does not work this time around. makes me wonder if T-Mobile has made some internal setting changes due to the breach but not told anyone because they are worried if anyone found out about the changes they made it would show the data breach being worse than what T-Mobile made it out to be

It could be the rate plan. I’m on Simple Choice. I had another co-worker check with me and he’s also on a Simple Choice, same error. That has to be the issue.

I'm not completely convinced these "discounts" are the root cause. Did anyone of us have this issue last year?
I dont think so either. As I said, I just did this same thing back in March to trade in an iPhone 11 Pro and purchase an iPhone 12 Pro and to take advantage of carrier activation to nab the $100 T-Mobile prepaid Visa card. Same account, same line actually - no issues. The ONLY difference for me between March and now -- was in March, I was on T-Mobile ONE. But now, I am on Magenta.

Im not on Simple Choice. T-Mobile says I’m on “ONE Plan Business”. They did something special to get me on it when I switched to T-Mobile almost 5 years ago, but IUP has been working fine the last 3. Waiting for them to respond to their chat, been over an hour and nothing…

That’s not the problem. I’m also on Simple Choice and was able to get pre-approved for IUP with no issues.

If I attempt to buy any phone including currently available one on a monthly payment plan I get a message my plan is incompatible.

I just contacted T-Mobile as I was having the error showing T-Mobile could not verify my account when trying to use the iUP program from apple. T-Mobile told me it won’t work until Friday. Even though others have has success doing the same. Seems like Apple and T-Mobile have a big communication issue. But T-Mobile certainly offered to order me a 13 through their site and not on iUP…

I'll add that my voice lines have the "hookup" discount, and the entire account obviously has autopay discount. I've done IUP like 7 years in a row with TMO and always did the pre-approval and never had a problem til yesterday.

Yup and if you look on Tmobile community it looks like have been having issues since last month.

Just got off chat with T-Mobile. Of course the person I got didn’t seem to know what the IUP was. They kept telling me there’s no pricing details yet and I can’t preorder until Friday…..

Went into a T-Mobile store and the rep checked through my account and told me there's absolutely no reason it should be giving me an error and recommended I call customer service. Customer service told me I can't pre-order until Friday, totally not understanding what I was explaining. I have the T-Mobile One Military plan and have had no problem the last two years using Apple's upgrade plan until now.

Lastest info I have gotten from T-Mobile on this issue.. Take it for what its worth..

I don't have a government discount but one through my company. I am guessing all those on amplified plans or others with employee discount are getting this error.

It may be time for me to look at other providers .

I’m having the problem and I’m not on any kind of discount plan and I’m getting the run around from every angle - Verizon is looking better and better at this point.

I'm not getting any "discount" through my employer. Someone with our "account", meaning salesperson for my employer, got extra commission or credit for me going through them instead of just going into a store. It was the same exact price. I think the only perk that I got was they waived the SIM card fees. And I'm certainly not a "government" employee. This all makes zero sense.

I'm a T-Mobile employee, last 2 years never had an issue getting pre approved and completing the upgrade on pre order day. Have been on the same account "type" which in my case has the Special/Emplyee tag. Having the same issue as everyone here, and just received this response:
