The entire point of my post apparently flew way over your head. There was NO NEED for an i9 in this enclosure. People would have been plenty happy with the latest i7. Apple could have dodged this bullet altogether.
but tech reviewers and tech forum folks are never happy with Apple products on the internet.

They may actually be, but the majority for whatever the reason may be they generally aren't. AND, and, they buy it, don't like it and then keep it. That's the kicker.

Fair enough, but bashing them at every corner is not the answer. What are the creative ways that we can all help make Apple a better company? We aren’t going to run off their executive team. I miss SJ just as much as the next person.

That certainly applies to my unproductive bashing of specific executives but much of the complaining on here is pretty product specific and founded in concrete issues. What else is there to do other than point out perceived flaws?

I don’t discount that Apple has issues. But have you used Microsoft Windows for a week straight? I have. I was pulling out hair I don’t have to lose. LOL

I use it everyday on my Dell 7577. Honestly each have their own pros and cons OS wise.
Agree to disagree. Windows is a complete joke in my opinion. A total nightmare full of bugs that will never be resolved because there are too many variables.

I didnt get any throttling during an after effects bench mark test both on single and multi core test. I think his i9 is iBroke.

I read somewhere that h264 encoding is handled with specialised hardware on iMac Pro and presumably MacBook Pro 2018. This would explain why your benchmark does not suffer the same issues as software running rendering on the CPU or GPU.

I use Windows 10 Pro in an enterprise environment every day... not my favorite thing in the world but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be, in my opinion. It's actually fairly usable (but I know other people have a lot of complaints with 10). But on non-Apple hardware under my own control I generally prefer Linux.

It is also entirely possible that I've just learned to tolerate more annoyances on other platforms than I used to.

I think you hit the nail on the head. You’ve learned to tolerate and overlook annoyances. Someone with my degree of OCD doesn’t have such luxury. I wish I did. I built 4 powerhouse PCs in the last 2 years with top spec components thinking I would be able to someday jump ship on Apple. I was woefully wrong... I cannot get used to all of Windows clunky quirks. macOS just feels fluid, like water or glass in comparison. Windows feels like driving a Jeep down a cobblestone road. I’m certain it’s the combination of the Linux base plus maintaining control of hardware. I’ll take that.

That's the cheap way out of claiming something without evidence. How about three that you have experienced?
GUI issues out the wazoo, blinking taskbar icons, freezing installs. There’s 3. Have dozens more. Done debating your love of Windows. It’s all yours, have at it!

i personally haven't seen the first two. The second I have but it was an either an issue with enterprise-required software or a poor installer.

I'm not in love with any OS. I'm open minded when it comes to choosing the right tool for the job.

I don't know, after 3 hours of usage, I am not experiencing any heating issues.

tests came out OK, and idle temp around 35-40C now, battery is excellent, def 9-10 hours of solid use.

ALL processors will throttle in a laptop from ANY manufacturer if pushed hard and hot enough. This goes without saying. You can’t out engineer physics.

This excuse is getting old.

1. No, big laptops with proper cooling don't throttle, neither do laptops with anemic processors (Like the ones in chrome books)
2. Screaming 'all laptops have throttling issues!' when these current ones are having SEVERE issues is like going to a dude whose car literally fell into a million pieces on the interstate and saying, 'hey man, look to the bright side, all cars die'

They called the Mac interface Aqua for a reason :D

You could try hackintoshing if you've got powerful PCs collecting dust. I've retired my hackintosh end of last year as the Macbook Pro is enough for my needs, it's a bit slow sometimes but I can wait :) And having 2 main operating systems was too confusing for my brain (if only they could be synced up).

Anyway, yeah, give it a go. They've made huge progress in recent years. You can now go full vanilla (no third party kexts, just native Apple stuff + a bootloader), there's config tools and installers for beginners etc. It's a cool community to be part of too, most people are still passionate and enthusiastic over there, in opposition to the entitled negative spoiled little brats that Mac users can be most of the time sometimes.

I have toyed with the idea of building one. Was just concerned I wouldn’t have good stability.
