It looks like a Touch clone with a radio option. That's all I saw.

I'd have to bet the Touch is much more refined especially the upcoming one.

People are dissing OLED screens but if Apple comes out with one for the new iPhone and iPod Touch, suddenly everyone will be like ZOMG, OLED ! Apple is da best eva !

More physically beautiful and a better UI than the ipod touch, GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny. Looked rather ugly UI to me in the video at least.

The video of an OLED probably doesn't do it justice and I would hope the upgrade there is a phone and touch this summer that uses OLED if it makes sense.

heheh. Kind of true.

OLED is nice, but it's not like the Touch was begging for a better screen.

Where did you get the information that there is an upcoming one?

Some site called MacRumors.

One difference - If apple comes out with it - it means they think its READY to be released.

A question that did not seemed to be asked of Vista and judging by the return rates - xboxes (did someone say there was a 25% fail rate?)

there are a lot of people shouting "Apple is not first lol!!1 GO MSFT" just to be separate from the masses here.

hey guys, new Zunes and iTouches are not even out yet

OLED is cool, but as said, it's not perfect yet. I would be highly unimpressed if apple switches to OLED screens unless the current lifespan problems are addressed.

It's not so much an apple thing of, "zomg this is so much better," than... Apple almost plays the safer side of hardware tech, while still pushing the limits. Thus, the high premium we fanboys are willing to pay for.

I get bored of seeing all these copies, lets not forget who started this ipod, iphone type device, and who will be one step a head, yes apple, a company that wasn't even a phone company, yet in my opinion totally changed they way we use phones (media players), and invent the app store to boot. Go away and make something original microsoft, LG and blackberry blah, blah, blah.

How many times did the guy tap on the screen, and nothing happened, and he had to tap again to make it work?

Also, is there multi-touch or not? He didn't seem to show it, especially while looking at photos, and you'd think that would be a great opportunity to show it off.

So Microsoft makes their rotation animation speed a little higher, and that's all it takes for people to say "Wow, that's fast!"? Yet it took a good second or two lag to get to the radio screen, with no indication that it's doing something.

Multi-Touch: Touch a UI element multiple times until it works. :D

Mine failed. I heard it was higher than 25%.

Microsoft isn't a phone company, or even a hardware company. (Insert common knowledge here)

Also, LG isn't exclusive to the mobile device market either. Their logo is in my washer and dryer.

I'm not really sure the direction you're going here.

And as-if M$ was some quirky independent upstart company. M$ couched as "David" to Apple's "Goliath" is hi-lar-ious.

That said, it's not a bad think the new Zune HD is getting good reviews and quickly becoming an anticipated gadget. That puts A LOT of pressure on Apple to vastly improve the Touch, and not in the lame "look, new colors" kind of way.

Apple didn't start the ipod, iphone type device. It just improved on the existing types of other manufacturers with a new interface and input device (click wheel on ipod, icon navigation on Toch and iphone). If you look at all these things a bit closely than the only thing that Apple really adds is a great polished and working user experience. Nothing more, nothing less, because feature and technology-wise Apple products are rarely at the forefront (except maybe with unibody MB's).

I love apple products, but to say that they were at the cradle of everything MP3 players and smartphones makes just as much sense as saying that Ferarri started the whole car thing because they drive the fastest and look the coolest.

Apple doesn't make up new product types, they are just better at innovating proven concepts than the competition is.

I remember mp3 players pre-iPod....woof. They absolutely sucked.

The iPod came along and it was as if nothing else on the market existed.

To a normal person not invested i tech, it would seem as if Apple invented the mp3 player. In most ways they took the mp3 from a clunky, crappy gadget and made it a serious product for anyone with a computer.

Yes, apples strength lies in developing the relationship between tech and user.

Now every mp3 player is an 'ipod' (they are even starting to look the same)

A belief in simple solutions and intuitive interfaces.

Making the hard seem simple, the complex - comprehendable.

The pc software for zune shows just how little M$ understands the relationship between style and substance.

Apple has built its identity round a core brand of quality and user friendliness, all wrapped round a simple and elegant logo.

I can't even think what the microsoft logo is.

I wonder if Apple is forced to innovate because we have grown to have very, very high expectations for their products. Why do you think we get so disappointed all the time? Simply because of all the rumors of what the new iPhone will bring and people get all this information stuck in their heads until they believe it's 100% true, then get all disappointed as soon as all those things are not revealed.

hang on....so it has an HD Radio reciever built in and an OLED screen that you can see in direct sunlight like a couple of Kodak cameras had a few years ago?

This would be a perfect thing for use in the car if you've got a car without an HD Radio tuner....in fact if it is in the 200 dollar range, it would be the same cost as an HD radio for your car.....and you get the rest of the features, to boot...

Give me a mac client or let it sync with iTunes on OS X and you've got yourself a (surprised) customer, Microsoft...If it will work with my xbox 360, so much the better...

iPod wasn't really anymore "sleek" when it first arrived.

I think the UI is what they concentrated on to make better.

They also came into the market at a better time compared to earlier MP3 players as well with an eco-system behind it....mostly because they had that capability (that they bought from someone else).

I guess i'm happy i'm not a normal person who would think that.

I think Compaq actually was the first to realize HDD could fit in a small package....but they didn't do crap with it as I bet they didn't think the market would go anywhere with it.

I use my phone for 2 things:

1. to make phone calls

2. to set an alarm for every morning

that is all I want my phone to do.

In fact, my phone isn't a very good alarm clock, so sometimes I use a real alarm clock.

It doesn't makes sense to tie more of your life to a monthly service charge than you have to.

Good question. Don't know.

EXACTLY!! Since I switched and also bought some shares, I'm closely following the share price and some rumors websites. Everybody always goes crazy: two camera's!, turn-by-turn navigation!, OLED screen!, Netbooks and Tablets! But when John Mayer is tuning his guitar to the end of the keynote, the shareprice slumps, because all we got was a new back for the iPhone, a shuffle that is almost invisible and speaking, and a softwarestore full of applications that go *poop*...

It's never good enough..

Apple is a good software and hardware company that makes great products that integrate with eachother perfectly. But the fanboys expect flying cars, cloned pets and girlfriends who don't complain to be introduced at each keynote.

Ok, I got a bit carried away ... I agree with you though.
