So Very Happy

:)

I have to say, this is a great update for my 1.33 Ghz iBook G4. Safari 3.0 is great, the UI upgrades in Finder look great. Oddly enough, the processor is under less of a load as well.

I haven't spent much time with Leopard, but OSX 10.4.11 is the best OS I've experienced. The USB Drive bug has been fixed, and its really just a joy.

Thanks apple, I'm loving this upgrade.... now to wait until Jan to get my Macbook (or MBPro if multitouch is announced).

- Boot into single user mode (command + S)
- run /sbin/fsck -fy
- reboot

After "/sbin/fsck -fy" I would also run "/sbin/mount -uw /" to remove orphaned files.

@ InSaNeCyAnUr: Have you tried to press "Enter" or "Control C" when the single boot stops at "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKEyEventDriver"?

You can always boot from your original DVD and repair the disk from there.
If you are lucky and you are able to boot up the system I would download the Combo Update and install this one instead of using SoftwareUpdate.

I always download the combo installer! And before I install the update I always remove the previous Update PKG file in my Library/Receipts folder. If you remove the PKG file from the previous update the combo installer will install everything. Otherwise it will look what's installed and what's not...

Regards and goodluck!

BTW: Update was okay here on my PM G5 running Tiger on a small partition (15Gb). My main system is Leopard but I still need Classic :D. And for a PPC based Mac nothing is better then Classic.
Safari 3 is real mature now and runs very fast.

Remove ALL Safari (Internet) Plug-Ins?

On an Intel MacPro I have Flip4Mac, Quartz Composer, and QuickTime plugins and a few others; will I have to delete, upgrade, then reinstall these plugins?

Sounds like a lot of work...perhaps I should wait?

(Might've answered my own question...)

- Adds support for Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000

Does this mean Microsoft's Wireless Laser 8000 Mouse now works as well? I was interested in buying it until I realized they don't work well with Macs.

Thanks for your help everyone....

I did try to press Enter at first but it didn't work. So when yo told me Control C I though I was saved!!! But I wasn't:eek:

I'll try to boot on Tiger CD tomorow at my house;)

I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again.

Has anyone installed this update when the Safari 3 beta was previously installed on 10.4.10? Any issues there?

For some reason I have some vague recollection of a few people having issues a while ago due to upgrading something that expected Safari 2.x, not the 3 beta. Wouldn't surprise me if Apple didn't test this situation, and in that case, who knows if there'd be issues or not.

Maybe I'll just run the beta uninstaller first to be safe... ;)

while waiting to upgrade my Mini (hoping for at least the x3100), this is very nice. Finally compatibility with gmail and msn. Very happy with this update, and if it is even more stable, that's icing on the cake!

I have the Microsoft Wireless Presenter 8000 Mouse and its working fantastically in Leopard. I'm guessing it will too in 10.4.11.

By using the internal bluetooth rather then the USB receiver? I heard it works perfectly fine without the USB receiver in XP/Vista if you have internal bluetooth, but in OSX it doesn't. Only way to make it work is to use the receiver which kinda kills the point of buying a Bluetooth mouse lol.

I have the 8000 and it works fine with my MBP and Alu iMac's internal Bluetooth. I've had it since 10.4.8 up to and including 10.4.11. No problems.

You might want to reconsider:

Your Mac Pro has Gigabit Ethernet ports (1000baseT), the 857 you mentioned has slower (100baseT):

LAN Switch
4-port 10/100BASE-T switch with autosensing MDI/MDX (Media Device In/Media Device Crossover) for auto-crossover.

My Mac Pro just celebrated it's first anniversary. It's not that old! As to wireless - does 802.11b support less bandwidth than my consumer DSL service? I don't think so. So I think it still makes sense to continue using it for internet access. Also, other wireless devices, including a G4 iBook, a PC, a PSP, a Palm Lifedrive, have always been able to connect via this Linksys router - so why not a modern Mac?

I've actually thought about the wireless upgrade quite a bit - there will be a Cisco 857w in the home network in the future. I just hope the Mac Pro will connect!

No problems whatsoever on a 2.4Ghz 15" SR MBP. had the Safari beta 3 with 10.4.10 and didn't uninstall prior to the update. Everything works fine.
however, when I initially restarted my MBP it got hung up on the first grey screen and I had to hard reboot.
Everything was fine after that.

Hm odd, I've been hearing mac users are having issues with that mouse. I even think there's a thread here about trying to make the mouse work lol.

Definitely wanna pick it up though, bluetooth full featured mouse. Perfect. :D

Nope. I think that fixed the pro models, not regulars

Hm well I've been running 10.4.10 for a while... I tried installing it before and my Airport messed up and I had to downgrade to 10.4.9... after a while I wanted to install iWork '08 but i had to install 10.4.10 first, so I risked it... never had an Airport drop.

What are these Finder UI enhancements everyone's talking about? Does the UI look different??

Just used Software Update to install 10.4.11, but right at the end of installation, the system gave a fatal error and had to be restarted. Now, Software Update won't run, so I downloaded the .dmg from apple, but Installer crashes as well. iChat crashes if I try to send a message, and Firefox crashes after about 5 minutes. Any tips other than reinstall 10.4?

Northbridge on High Alert

Just upgraded my recently-downgraded-from-Leopard OG mac pro with x1900 card and graphics glitches (horizontal lines). Fingers Crossed :apple:.

Good to know I've finally got an OS more recent than Leopard.
