All Right, the trackpad preference pane includes the quicktime movies for four finger swipes in the package contents on my Early 08 MBP, but I can't enable the swipes in the preference pane. I think its the same actual preference pane as on the unibodies, but it has the 4 finger swipes disabled somehow. I'm sure there is a hack to be done there.

Not sure if you will see this, but can you go to Apple Trailers and watch any 1080p trailer, I usually watch Up or Ice Age.

See if you get consistent playback on the 9600 card (better performance). On the 9400 I can get it to play at a constant 24FPS, on the 9600, it is all over the place and choppy.

On the 9600 it is choppy still :( 720p playback is perfectly smooth though.

On the 9400M plays back 1080p perfectly fine.

Can't install in San Francisco

All morning I have tried on three different computers. All pretty new. Every time I restart after the download, the blue bar is stopped/stalled at less than 1/4" over the galaxy background. No movement beyond that

I've had to manually shut down and restart and 10.5.5 remains. No update. It won't install after that.

I've left one on for 60 minutes now with no movement whatsoever????!!

Is the "Trackpad" System Pref new? I don't remember that in 10.5.5.

It's new for all Macs except the late 2008 Macbooks, Macbook Pros (and perhaps Macbook Airs). The late 2008 unibody Macs came with the Trackpad Preference separate from the Mouse Preference. The older Macs had this as a tab in the Mouse preference.

Gettin more nervous...

Aghhh. what to do?! It's been stuck at configuration and installation on second reboot for over half an hour, should I kill it or wait at least another hour?

I might be imagining this, but I'm 99% certain Safari is running 10 times quicker than it was before installing 10.5.6 - most sites are loading in the blink of an eye which they never used to.

I just checked; the Safari cache was reset by this update.

Hmmmm

Mine only took like 5-10 minutes.. and my early 08 MBP is only like 0.1GHz faster than yours

If you have the time, waiting won't hurt I guess..
But it shouldn't take that long..

I'm curious about a few items.

Wireless improvements: sounds great, what do they exactly do?
Gaming improvements: Will this help on an Intel GMA950?
Anything to reduce lag on my 1920x1200 external monitor driven by my Macbook? Notice lag only in movies (gaming at that resolution produces no lag).

ok I'm not sure if I did this but my apple menu was displaying things twice and it had new menu items like system profiler and it was displaying thing twice like log out and shutdown. I hit control F5 but everything has gone away now. probably just me i guess

Hmmm... I can wait, I just need it for work when I can. I'm just scared it's stuck in an endless loop and forcing it to stop is propbably not a good idea as I love my data.

Any ideas?
