It’s really not that much bigger. What makes it feel huge are squared sides. The rounded sides on the 11 PM make it feel more comfortable as it were. IMHO
I agree that the squared sided will take a little getting used to. Haven’t put my pop socket on it yet so that’ll prob help. I’m a woman with small hands but have been using the plus/max model since the 6s pretty comfortably. I immediately noticed the difference from my 11PM but I’m sure it’ll feel normal after a couple days of use.

I’m coming from an 11PM and I did notice the size when sitting them next to each other but once I put my case on the 12PM it feels similar. I enjoy the flat edges and smaller bezels. I also use a PopSocket and usually go for the Otter + Pop cases. I got the gold color and it’s gorgeous!! I have gotten silver since the 8+ so it was time for something different. I love it in my sparkly case!!! I haven’t taken any photos yet though. Might do that tomorrow.

Sweet fancy Moses! I have an 11 Pro Max and just got the 12 Pro Max today. I thought it would be slightly bigger but OMG, Bigfoot could use this thing as a surfboard! It also feels heavier. I have big hands and can barely hold it without it hurting a little. Also got the Apple MagSafe case and it’s slippery on the sides so that doesn’t help. I may need to find a grip case.

That’s a lot of bling! Love it!

At first I had my mind made up to go with the Pro Max, read too many reviews and contemplated getting a 12 Pro. Before making a decision, I committed to seeing them in person. Went into the store today, compared the two, walked out with the Pro Max in Pacific Blue. Just what I wanted, no regrets on my choice. Anyone who's followed my comments in some of the watch band threads may have noticed blue is my favorite color. Absolutely thrilled when Apple announced blue options this year.

I agree with others, if you came from a Plus sized phone and are OK with the size, it's honestly not that much different. There really isn't that much of a noticeable difference at all in terms of form factor. The associate who set me up made a great point. 6/7+ had aluminum backs so phones were lighter. 8+ changed to the glass backs so I was already used to the weight.

Congrats to all of you with new devices. Exciting times for sure!

OK Campers:

Picked up my 12PM / Graphite / 256 / Unlocked. A few comments:

1. Having used an 11PM for the past several months ... the 12PM feels not very different. OTOH, I HAVE BEEN using - and will continue to use - an Otterbox Defender (FYI NOT because I'm worried about drops - but because I need a solid belt clip).

And those who are familiar with the Otterbox Defender know that that suckers adds A LOT to the size of any phone!

2. I got the graphite; and my 11PM was "space grey". At least to my eye: the color looks the same.

3. Visually, I really like the polished steel edges. In my hands - I don't like the feel of them. Reason: it's so slippery, Im afraid the phone will go flying out of my hand. Then again, I use a Defender case.

4. Quick start didn't work for me; the 11PM was on iOS 14.2 and the 12PM shipped with 14.1. And updating the OS via iTunes kept getting Error 4000. Had to do the iOS update via OTA.

5. Since Quick Start didn't work, I couldn't transfer my Verizon eSIM. Had to call Tech Support -- thankfully there were NO problems in transferring. I WAS worried because of stories I'd read that non-VZW iPhones needed escalation to add the Digital IMEI ... and I got my 12PM factory unlocked. Anyway, VZW had no problems!

And speaking of eSIM: by chance I was on a bus that was in an area with 5G UW service. Below is a screen cap from Speedtest:

More observations later!

I also have a leather case coming Monday. Would you say that it adds quite a bit of bulk to the phone or not at all? Currently using a Spigen Thin Fit and it is a bit thicker than I was expecting.
The official Apple case doesn’t at all. If anything it’s sorta concerning how minimal it is. Just get the phone protected.

Got mine this morning. Size is totally fine if you are accustomed to previous Plus/Max devices as I am.

I like the flat sides a great deal. Frosted back is too slippery though for my hands. Using a Pitaka Air case for now.

How you find the Pitaka Air case on 12 Pro Max? I hope it looks and feels nice on it!

Do you mind sharing some photos with Air case on?

Thanks

I’m definitely feeling torn about my 12 max. It’s big and heavy, hard to hold up while in bed - tempted to rest it on stomach instead of holding it up. My 11 feels so light compared to it! I’m debating going with the iPhone mini then getting an iPad mini for around the house when the new one comes out....just not sure. I may pick up an iPhone mini to compare side by side.

Coming from an 8 plus, it feels slightly bigger in hand, but the display is massive and beautiful! The bezels on my 8 plus and previous phones never bothered me before, but wow! So much more screen without them. At the notch, who cares about the notch?! The screen is so big that the notch looks like nothing!
