I think people would be a lot happier if they logged off for a while and just tried the phones for themselves.

This phone is 2.7% heavier than the last one, and 5.4% lighter than the 14 PM. I'd be shocked if anyone ITT could do a blind test and tell which was which.

I, like some others here, upgraded from the iPhone 14 Pro Max and really appreciate how much lighter the iPhone 16 Pro Max feels overall.

For those who upgraded from the 15 Pro Max and are complaining about the weight, well, you had it coming! Who told you to upgrade just one generation?

Yo not another weight thread! Lmaoooooo

Here are some facts for all the people who are profesionally “weight feelers”.

Weight table:
Xsm - 208
11pm - 226
12pm - 228
13pm - 240
14pm - 240
15pm - 221
16pm - 227

You have more than 5 generations of heavier phones, don’t come here and complain about the weight of the 16pm. Or get the smaller pro, seriously you are all the worse, next thing you know you will complain about battery life even tho iPhones are top 5 performants in their class.

Oh weight, I know why Apple refuses to listen to you all, you will complain about how heavy it is in the end too…
😂 rage

I think what happens is that the perception of the weight changes when the device itself is a different size.

For instance, the 16PM is a little taller and thicker than the 13PM, despite being a bit lighter

Perhaps this alters how people perceive the weight?

I saw Flossy Carter weighed his 15 Pro Max @ 233 grams and his 16 Pro Max @ 227 grams and repeated it several times. Has anyone else weighed these phones back to back?

10:29 into the video:
Apple's official specs page for the 15 Pro Max states the following:
I've held both devices in the Apple Store and the 16PM is noticeably, if only slightly, heavier.

So, I don't know what's up with Flossy Carter's scale. (Maybe he has a heavy glass screen protector on his 15PM?)

I've generally never been one for big phones, and have kept to the smaller devices year after year. Prior to this year, the largest phones I've owned were the OnePlus 6 and Pixel 6, both which are 6.3" devices. I decided to go for the Pro Max this year, as I've felt a desire for the bigger viewing area over the past year.

Day 1 with the 16PM, I was beginning to regret switching from the regular pro (I had 15 pro before). Day 2, I was getting used to how to hold the phone and interact. By day 3, I was pretty much in the 'I'm not sure I could go back' camp. The regular pro just feels small to me now, and while it is definitely more comfortable to hold, the extra screen real estate is so nice to have.

yes tough choice! need one truly in the middle :)

I went from the 13pm to the 16PM and I am very impressed about how much lighter the 16PM is. Thats actually probably one of the things I’m most impressed about with the 16PM.

The 15 PM is 6 grams lighter than the 16 PM. I ran last year to upgrade from the 13 PM. I'm hoping this "slim" iphone next year will be good because thats what Ill get.

I went from 15 Pro to 16 Pro Max and after a few days, didn’t notice any weight increase at all. I did however notice the much better battery life and larger display which comes in handy for reading etc.

Yean, I'm 100% certain Apple's specs are more accurate.

This is me, 100%. 15Pro has been great but after seeing 16PM in store and holding it, I pulled the trigger but won't get it for a couple weeks. Main concern was how the hell to use with one hand, but I have seen some encouraging "you just need a couple days with it" posts that I'm latching onto (like yours)...

same here, what case are you using?

I do think it moves to primarily a two handed phone, at least for long periods of use. I still can use it decently well one handed (which surprised me. I have normal sized hands, but I have stubby thumbs that are shorter than normal).

I never held a 15PM but had a 14PM so the 16PM actually feels significantly lighter. That being said, the weight doesn't bother me as much as the width. I also own a galaxy S24+ and even though we're talking about ~2mm less, I realized that's about the limit for 1 handed use for my own hands, at least reaching side to side.

I don't think there is going to be any revolutionary solution to a lighter phone, if you want a big screen, and a long battery life. Not unless there is some major changes to battery technology.

I'm not even sure a Magnesium or Carbon fiber case would save that much weight. Hovering around that 7.5-8oz weight seems to be the range for the larger phones the last few generations.

S24 Ultra weighs more (8.22) than the 16 Pro Max (8.0), the Pixel Pro XL 9 slightly less (7.8)

There’s sadly no happy medium for the Pro series this year. The 15 Pro Max from last year was a perfect balance between not being too big or too small, and just the right weight. This year the subtle changes to the Pro series don’t feel so subtle in the hand. The Pro Max has gotten too heavy and too wide to hold comfortably.

I had a 16 Pro Max and really could not get on with it, it was giving me bad hand cramps, and yet I’m totally fine with the 15 Pro Max. I've switched to a 16 Pro and it’s definitely too small for me, but it is more comfortable to hold in the hand. I will sadly have to ‘downgrade’ to the Pro size this year. I could not get used to the 60Hz screen on the iPhone 16 Plus either, so that’s not an option.

I cant believe other people feel the same as me! I just packaged my 15 pro max up to turn in for the trade and I’m like wow this is SO much easier to hold use and feels way better. The weight is noticeable and the placement of this camera button is awful

Yeah, I returned mine and I’m coming from a 15 Pro Max. It just went past the limit of comfort for me. Don’t feel like doing another year of finger gymnastics.

After trying all phones, I downsized to a 16 Pro and it feels great in the hand. And good battery, which was my main concern.

I forgot the comfort of texting one-handed. Feels so light and premium at the same time.
I wondered about the battery life of the 16 pro. I think i want to send my pro max back for the 16 pro.
