Location services definitely faster here.. Apps which rely on it (locly, exposure) get the location stuff sorted in a couple of seconds now. :D

Installed a minute ago, iphone is definetly snappier.

Question, does it take almost 250MB on the phone also? If yes my phone will be full after a year of bug fixes lol

No, because the update replaces the OS that was on the phone - it does not add to it in the amount of the download.

Apple just replaces the OS on the iPhone/iPod. If it takes any more space on the device, it'll be around 10mb - if that.

OF COURSE it will be snappier. You did an update and your phone was rebooted. It has to be snappier (temp files gone, volatile memory flushed..etc). Use it for a couple of hours then come back and post.

You know there is a little x you can press next to "Backing Up..." your iphone isnt going to implode if you do so, back it up when your sleeping at night

Oh, Wow, Now you tell me. maaaan, i was worried about pushig that lttle "x". i though I was going to explode. wow, now I know why they didn't stop me at the airport. :p:apple:

Ok, in what situation would a new firmware ask you to restore?

This update didn't ask me to restore at all, it updated from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 within 2 min and i was up and running in less than 5 min total from downloading the update to the iPhone on 2.0.2 ready to be used.

I think most people are clicking restore instead of update...gives the phone a fresh start so you can try to discern the bug fixes.

I wish Apple posted what they updated in this 2.0.2 version.

Consider this possibility: Apple updated nothing.
Can you say "placebo?"

Seriously - the idea that Apple releases something - anything - to make it appear they are "working on it" (even if Apple knows there is nothing they can fix with software) is not out of the realm of possibility. Reminds me of the ideas discussed in this excellent article.

Not saying there are no bug fixes here. Just saying it's possible this is merely a PR campaign. Stop the bleeding. Make people feel they (Apple) are on it (problems).

Just a thought.
Looking forward to updating when I get home this eve.
Hoping to return to that lightning-quick responsive OS all pre-2.0 users came to know, love & dare I say "expect."

I am getting 1.2Mb/s in my basement... on a frigging MONDAY EVENING and FULL 5 bars....
I likes it...

Keep Getting Cut Off!!!

Anyone having the same problem as I am. I start downloading and after about half way in the download, I get cut off. ANYONE!!!

This thread is about an update to the phone - it would be reasonable that a comment about the backup would be about during the software update would it not?

But if you read the small convo in this thread that me and the other member were having it was about backing up not software updates

Yes and that somehow merited you swearing at me like Im an idot - got ya. Hope it made you feel better. Many people have been confused on the back up issues and that is all I was pointing out. Sorry to disturb you.
