Why not just SSH into your phone and copy the videos over?

I have ishare and File2mail but can't seem to find which folder the videos are in ??? I am a bit of a tech newbie so SSH is something I really don't know how to do.

If anyone can offer a detailed step by step on how to get them on my comp and where they are in my folders ??? I will be eternaley gratefull

I must have missed the announcement that forces people to keep their iPhone. Perhaps these people whose 'patience is just about run out' should go buy a new phone. That'll teach Apple and ATT!

Maybe you missed the whole 2-year contract thing

And to you all who are praising safari stability, come back in a week or two after actually using the phone and see how many times it doesnt crash. Wasnt it after 2.2 (maybe 2.1) that apple said "safari is more stable, go ahead, we dare you to try and crash it" and then took it down cuz safari would crash? Safari will never not crash, the sooner you get used to that, the better

This place kind of reminds me of a large family of rich children. One Christmas, the parents spend considerable amounts and really give good gifts. Thereafter, the children get upset and pout when the parents are struggling with the slowing of the economy or their bonus wasn't as big.

The people in this forum really need to take a step back and look at how good we have it. How many other smartphone providers offer upgrades of any kind? Bug fixes offered for free over the internet? Guaranteed updates in the future? Take what's given to you and be grateful, for s**ts sake.

On the other hand, I will admit that the other phone providers aren't leaving basic features out that warrant people begging for things that should be there in the first place. And other phone providers aren't announcing release dates for certain features and then leaving their customers in the dark when said date rolls by with no mention of that feature and five months later people are wondering if that provider developed alzheimers and completely forgot they had even mentioned it.

But that kind of goes without saying...

You're right there's children in africa that would kill for an iPhone even without MMS.:p

Thanks for the answer...what is the difference between an update on iTunes and one from the develpoer connection website (DCW)? Does it mean the 2.2.1 is a beta version or trial? Given the minor update why would it be necessary to update my iphone through DCW? Why is the update not avaiable through itunes?

The sdk is the Software Development Kit used for creating applications for the iPhone.

The 2.2.1 firmware update is what is available through iTunes. I think you were just mixing up your terms.

You sound bitter.

I'm just talking about this latest update that has blocked people's ability to have Emoji on their phone. They had a potential feature one moment, now they don't.

A bug allowed Emoji to be enabled in the first place. That bug is fixed. Nothing was taken away because nothing was actually given in the first place.

when song is playing, taking the earphones out has always put the ipod/iphone on pause but now when plugging it back in it resumes the song. never used to do that!

Update: OOPS! Its not doing it now after a restart...buggy thing!

Add to Existing Contact

Just tried to add a new phone number from recents and after going through the normal process, I noticed that it didn't take, anyone else having this issue since upgrading to 2.2.1?

Just added three contacts from my recents and they all worked fine.

So, it was a bug? My iPhone still has Emoji. Would you consider my phone defective then?

Did you add new or add to existing? My problem is adding to existing. Also, I have like 800 contacts with multiple phone and email each, wonder if I've hit a limit?

So let me get this straight. There are people whining STILL about MMS, video recording, a2dp, bluetooth file transfer, landscape SMS/email, and copy/paste? Did any of you that are complaining read a single review or browse the specs prior to buying the iphone? You do realize you had a number of choices of phones and carriers so don't use that contract bull***** excuse. The only legitimate gripe I can understand is push because apple actually mentioned that it would be an upcoming feature. Even then, if push was so important, wouldn't waiting to see how it was implemented be the smart thing to do? No, it really doesn't matter if a free phone can do something the iphone can't. It was well know what the iphone is programmed to do and what it isn't so basically if you bought the iphone expecting something that wasn't already available or promised explicitly by Apple you're an absolute moron. Really, how could you be so stupid as to buy something that doesn't offer a feature nor does the manufacturer ever mention the feature and then complain about it like it was owed to you? Just buy a different phone!

Again, I understand the grumblings about the promised push, that was one thing Apple actually did tell people to expect.

No, I wouldn't say defective, but the setting is technically corrupted since it should never be enabled on non Japanese iPhone.

I just don't understand all the whining about a "feature" being taken away when it was never a feature for non Japanese iPhone users to begin with.

I can't put into words how annoying the response 'you shouldnt have bought the iPhone then' or 'research before you buy'. I don't know about you but I've never owned a product that did everything I want.

People buy the iPhone for what it does best, and thats the UI and such. I think it's a completely legitimate to complain about features that no other phone manufacturer has left out since these technologies were first introduced. MMS, text forwarding and other features are literally on every other phone being manufactured this day and age and there's absolutely no reason for them to be missing.

I'm sure a vast majority of people buying the iPhone knew/know these features are not yet implemented but they decide to buy anyways. That doesn't mean they don't have the right to complain.

As someone posted earlier, if no one complained, products would never improve.

Network Connection Timed Out errror while downloading new update..HELP!!

I get an error message while attempting to download the latest software update. I am running Windows Vista... Anyone have any suggestions??? It downloads anywhere from 5MB to 50MB then I get the following error message: "The Network Connection Timed Out; Make sure your network connection is active, or try again later"

MMS, Text Forwarding...

Here's my response to being a whiner.

One of the best features of this phone is the ability to release software/firmware updates!!! I don't know of another phone that does it. Personally, the MMS issue has bugged me twice in 18 months, text forwarding never and cut and paste maybe 2 times a month. But the fact that you can't go on a message board and not hear complaints about these features tells me that Apple should either address them or give a quick explanation as to why it won't work on there platform. I like the phone for surfing the web and staying on top of email and work while waiting for kids, nothing is better because of the screen size. I just wish Apple would put out some word on the top complaints.:)

Has anyone actually tested the Blurry Image Fix?

After installing 2.2.1, images saved both through Mail and through Safari are still blurry if they are large files. Small images seem to work just fine. I emailed myself a 1.5MB and a 4.5MB photo and each turned out blurry. An 80kb image turned out fine, as did several 400x600 images from Safari.

Has anyone else noticed that the image size seems to determine whether the image is saved properly?

I've attached screen captures of an 80kb version of a photo and the 2.8MB version. The 2.8MB version ends up blurry when saved to the camera roll and viewed on the iPhone. The actual images saved are fine if imported onto my Mac, but show up blurry on the iPhone. See the examples I've attached.

Again, the actual images saved are fine, but not when viewed on the iPhone. These are the screen captures from the iPhone screen, not the originals.

With all the useless banter about missing features I guess I'm not surprised that no one really responded to my post back on page 13 of this thread. Has anyone tested large image files in Safari and Mail?

Safari?

One of the fixes was supposed to be Safari, to make it more stable. I restored my iPhone instead of just updating to 2.2.1. I went through and checked all my settings, all good, and then decided to change my wallpaper, so I looked for a particular image on the net, on the iPhone and did the save image. It froze and rebooted the iPhone, then froze whilst rebooting so I had to switch off the phone (hold the Hold button) I had to hold the Hold button a couple of times before it finally rebooted. I tried again to get the image as it had not saved. It hung again. I pressed the Home button several times and eventually Safari started responding again. I went to the Home screen (which took about 10 secs) and then went to Photos to check the image had saved. That also took about 10 secs. It had saved. I switched off the phone and then back on. It seems fine now, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

So I've had 2.2.1 for a day now and I don't notice any difference. I personally never had any issues with 2.2 so for me the update was alot of "YEAH!!!" at first followed by long "BLAHHH". It was alot of excitment filled with high promises for a few seconds only to have reality set in followed by a big let down. I can now truly sympathize with all my ex-girlfriends :D SUCKERS!!!!!

My iTunes says that my firmware 2.2 is the latest. Anybody else having update problems?
