Yeah I'm pissed about this.... Not only did we lose but we lost to effin JMU......... They better be hiding their real game playing skills hahaha

And last I checked we were still sitting comfortably at #3. The only thing that happened was Ohio State re-extending their lead. It can still happen.

I feel for ya'll man I really do. The worst thing is that even if Overrated State or BAMA take a loss there's a good chance that they or some other one loss team will get voted in over an undefeated Boise [or TCU]. That Vtech loss this past weekend is REALLY going to hurt Boise and other non-BCS schools down the road this season.

Nope, just screwing with you.

It won't. Some of the undefeated teams below Boise will start to jump them when they play "real" games. For instance, Texas plays Tech, UCLA and OU in the next three weeks. If they win all three of those, they will jump Boise. Same with OU. After destroying FSU, they've got Air Force, Cincinnati and Texas coming up. Win all three and they will jump Boise. Oregon may jump you if they beat Stanford in three weeks (if Stanford is unbeaten at the time). Iowa and Nebraska also will have chances to beat (multiple) ranked teams in the near future, and doing so will be much more impressive than anything Boise has done/will do at that point.

Boise's whole hope this season was predicated on beating a "very good" Virginia Tech team in (essentially) a road venue. Now that VT has lost to a I-AA team, that win is no longer a "quality" win. The only chance you have left is to beat Oregon State, but since TCU already did that, some of the shine has come off. Boise's only hope now is that a situation arises like a few years ago when all the contenders have one or two losses, and even then it might not be enough if those losses are to other top teams.

Why do you insist on hurting me?

;)

...I know, and in the rational chamber of my brain I know you're right, but thankfully that chamber is very small and seldom used.

BOISE STATE TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!!!!!!

:D

^^this will never happen but I would LOVE to see Boise State vs. TCU [part 2!] for the BCS title. Did I mention that I also still believe in Santa?

The post Tebow era at UF just keeps getting better and better; no wonder Urban Meyer damn near had a heart attack last Spring!

Link.

Florida receiver Chris Rainey has been charged with aggravated stalking.

I think this is going to be the least of Coach Meyer's worries once SEC play gets going. Up to this point Florida's defense is what has kept them in the game, but their opponent won't always throw 3-4 interceptions a game.

Unless the Gator offense pulls it together they're going to be in trouble.

...and on a completely unrelated note, I went in to work today with a cold and was promptly told to leave. So if anyone wants to help the day go by faster and talk some college football, I'll be here! :)

^^agreed! I'm not exactly sure how many starters graduated off of that defense but they haven't looked good. I predict a 4 loss season and consolation trip to the Cotton Bowl come New Year.

Honestly, I see them with two losses, maybe three.

I think the Gators will eek out the victory against Tennessee and Kentucky, but they are going to get absolutely destroyed by 'Bama in three weeks.

LSU is having some QB troubles right now, so they're up in the air as to whether or not they keep winning.

If South Carolina is legit then I think they beat Florida as well and take the SEC East.

I don't think there's a team in the country that can beat Alabama right now.

Alabama - 63 v. Boise St. - 17? OSU -34 v. Boise St. - 14.

How realistic is it to predict Boise St. beating either Alabama or OSU? How about Florida? Arkansas? Iowa?

They are an incredibly talented team, but they play nobody. Maybe one or two games a year... tops...

How can anyone really rate them or judge them, good or bad? I could beat up almost everyone at the nursing home, but I wuoldn't want to fight Mayweather or Pacquio (or any UFC fighter).

But as long as there's a couple of strong orderly's in that nursing home then I'll give you the heavyweight belt.

;)

But seriously, trying to predict wins and losses for anyone is ridiculous. Boise State has simply found a way to exploit the current system by consistently putting up great seasons, and winning big games. That's why we're #3. Oh, and returning 20 of 22 Fiesta Bowl starters helped too.

Most of the sentiment in here seems to be that Boise State is a great team, but they don't play the schedule to deserve a Title shot. I can definitely respect that, but there are so many people (Lee Corso, Mark May) that say we don't deserve it because we're not a good team. These people are just plain idiots.

I completely agree that we have a weak schedule, but our conference schedule is not our fault.

"If you want a better schedule then join a better conference!" ...I can not believe how many morons (including "professional" journalists) say this. Right, because we get AQ conference invites every week, but we turn them down.

"If you want big schools to play you then don't ask for so much money!" ...Are you kidding me? The reason we ask for the money is because they won't come to Boise to play, so we lose out on all the ticket sales of having a marquee team come play at our house. Plus we have a fraction of the budget these other schools have, and you're dang right we're going to use that to help bankroll our program so we can expand or measly 33K seat stadium and other athletic facilities.

We got $1.25 million for playing Virginia Tech, but they received $2.25 million. So it's not like these schools are going broke to pay us, plus most of our $1.25 didn't even come from Va. Tech.

So while I may agree that we don't necessarily "deserve" to be in the National Championship game compared to some other top schools due to our WACky schedule, to say that we couldn't compete in an AQ conference every week is just asinine.

Nevada is just TAKING it to Cal!

Cal was knocking on the door of the top 25, coming in at #29, so this is a great win for Nevada, the WAC and Boise State!

EDIT: Actually, Cal is currently ranked at #24 in the Coaches Poll.

Cal under Jeff Tedford has been a weird team. They will start off great, then collapse later in the season. They sometimes look terrible and lose badly to teams they should be competitive with. A couple of years ago they started out 5-0, then had to fight just to get bowl eligible. They lost something like 5 of their next 6 games. They have had a lot of talent through there, yet it hasn't always shown up in the record.

Yeah, pretty much. I think they wound up with 8 or so wins and one of the lower tier bowls. Don't get me wrong, I would love for my team to win "only" 8 games, but then again, we haven't had the level of talent Cal has had.

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian calls Reggie Bush "an idiot."

I always appreciate it when coaches just call it like it is. None of the PC bullcrap that we always seem to hear.

Of course, that being said, I don't think for a second that Sark didn't know what was going on back then. I would bet the farm that Sark and most (if not all) of the coaching staff either knew outright or at least strongly suspected and simply did nothing about it.

It's old news nowadays, but I still really feel bad for the kids on the current team. Take away scholarships, but don't take away the ability to play in a bowl game. I understand the NCAA did it to hit USC in the wallet, but those kids don't deserve that...

I agree. That is one reason I actually like Steve Spurrier. He doesn't do much political BS talk.

Anyway, the thing with probation is that the NCAA can't really punish the individuals. By the time those investigations are done, the offending individuals are long gone. So, the NCAA does the only thing it can and punishes the institution. This is especially true in cases of the dreaded "lack of institutional control". One thing has always puzzled me about the NCAA and bowls, though. Bowls aren't officially sanctioned by the NCAA. The BCS isn't an officially sanctioned NCAA championship. Yet, somehow, the NCAA has the power to prevent schools from participating in bowls.

I am guessing that the NCAA has some kind of mandate on how many games can be played per season for any of it's participants. So they can lock you out of bowls by saying "if you play a 13th game this season, we're kicking you out of the NCAA umbrella"

P-Worm

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding your point, but any team that travels to Hawaii (such as USC this season) has the option to play a regular season 13th game so as to help recover some of the travel costs.

WVU letting MD back in the game is exactly why I won't give my 2500 to the alumni association for decent season tickets. Mark my words, even if we win against LSU next weekend we will lose to a nobody Big East team soon enough.

Wow - tough loss by Georgia. They had all the momentum in the world, and one defensive lapse made it all for naught.
