With a loss and having 3 undefeated teams ahead of them? I don't think so

Oh I'm sorry but I'd rather see a 2 loss Big 12/SEC/ACC team before a one loss big 10 team in title talks as alternatives to TCU and Auburn. The big 10 has a trouble of showing up for big games with quality OOC teams in bowl games in recent years. Makes for horrible football

How about this Georgia-Georgia Tech game? No one thought, including me, that Tech would even have a fighting chance. 21-21 right now.

GO TECH :D

EDIT: If this game is decided by that missed extra point i will be furious...

I have been looking forward all day to EvilGeek post but he might still be a in a drunken stuppor drinking away his sorors. That sucks. I really wanted to see a BCS buster happen this year.

When Alburn gets hammer it will really piss me off.

You don't belong in the title disussion. As it is you're lucky to be in Rose, where TCU is gonna take you behind the woodshed like a creepy Uncle.

No way does UW jump Stanford in the human polls, not after Stanford blew out / shut out an Oregon State team that's far better than NW.

With BSU and LSU losing, I feel a bit better about Stanford getting a BCS slot now. I want to see them play the toughest team possible -- on current form them can beat anyone in the country, except for Oregon on artificial turf.

It's a shame we won't get to meet Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Would love some revenge for 2000.

Randy Shannon fired at Miami. I didn't think it would happen this year.

It will remain 34-35 in my mind. That plan to let them score was incredibly gutsy, but that last pass undeniably terrible. Enjoy your bowl game Dawgs, we'll get you next year.

Yeah, that is kind of surprising. I figured they would give him one more year. Also, I wonder what is up with Caldwell "resigning" at Vanderbilt after only one year.

But isn't the coach in charge of the program so doesn't that become him responsibly. If it is the school that is at fault why punish the players?

Because the players get punished as a side effect of the school getting punished. The bowl ban does punish the school, but as a side effect, the players don't get the extra stuff that comes with a bowl game. About the only way you could punish the school without it affecting players is a fine of some sort, but I don't know if the NCAA even has that power. And if the infractions are bad enough, the coach is often fired. In USC's case, I think Pete Carroll took the NFL job because he knew there was a chance he would be fired because of all that stuff. The Athletic Director was fired.

Edit: I also wonder if Rich Rod may be on the hit list. Yeah, he got them to a bowl this year, but going 0-3 vs. OSU isn't going to make many friends in Ann Arbor.

Holy crap! Another Ga Tech fan here? Didn't think we had any more on here. Honestly...Tech letting them score was the best possible decision there. It was really foolish of UGA to even attempt any plays there (should have just kneeled everything and run down the clock). They should have known Tech would want them to score quick, as UGA really hadn't been able to stop Tech's offense at all (a total shock to me!). It had a chance to bite UGA in the ass giving Tech the ball back with a little less than 2 minutes to go. But you're right, that last pass was terrible.

I think MacNut may be referring to punishing the players involved in infractions that are discovered after said player has moved on from the school (for instance, like the Reggie Bush thing). Reggie was involved, but really faces no punishment (ok..had to give back a bronze trophy...big deal). The kids that are there now and being punished likely have little to do with why USC is being punished in the first place.

Great OU just took the big 12 south. No way in hell A&M will be jumping them in the BCS ranking. Welcome to the getting screwed in the a 3 way.

I'll support UGA if they're playing Auburn or Florida, but, other than that, I'm a Ga Tech fan all the way. The worst part about that last touchdown is that UGA fans are going to be rubbing in that 8 point lead during the next week when it seriously was only by 1 point. I feel bad for the kicker, Blair, for sure though. He's gonna be feeling like **** for a while for missing that extra point.

Anyway, do your worst to us MacDawg :D

That's kind of what I was saying. The NCAA has no power to punish a player once he is out of school. The only real punishment they can hand out to individuals is declare them ineligible to play. If the player is no longer in school, there is nothing the NCAA can do to them so they do the only thing they can: punish the school. As NCAA members, the schools are subject to regulation and punishment. As a side effect of the school getting punished, the current players get punished for something they didn't do. And since these NCAA investigations usually take so long to complete, they rarely do get to punish the players/coaches actively involved. The last time we got put on probation, the NCAA investigated us for three years, which at the time was the longest investigation in their history (which I still contend was nothing more than a witch hunt against Jackie Sherrill).

They won it on the field fair and square, but if the UGA fans I was with are any indication, most UGA fans that know anything about football won't gloat about "winning by 8 points". I was with 9 UGA fans, and every one of hem, to a T, were yelling "no no no" when the UGA player was running to the endzone. They were cussing Richt the entire time he scored, and during that last Tech drive, saying " why give Tech the ball back with a legit chance to score (and tie) when you haven't stopped them all night?" UGA fans are very, very hard on Richt right now...well...honestly, the past 3 seasons (I live right outside Athens and am constantly hearing how they want him gone). The funniest moment of the night was right after UGA scored the last touchdown. The only other Tech fan there said jokingly "maybe tech will let them score quick so we get the ball back". I say "yeah right, even Richt isn't that stupid" (just to ruffle the UGA fans we are with) ...UGA player runs in immediately after that... UGA fan looks at me and says dryly "Richt's not what?", pointing to the tv as the others cuss UGA. Damndest fans I've ever seen!

Still say in a 3 way it should go by the programs graduation rated.
Now that would screw over OU and UT big time but it is far punishment for them have the most pathetic football graduation rate in the big 12 .

While I'd love to see A&M win the Big 12 this year, I can't really complain about the tiebreaker because I'm not sure there's an on-the-field way to decide it. Going by graduation rate is even dumber than going by BCS rank because grad rate has literally nothing to do with on-field performance.

I'll just be happy knowing that we beat both teams in the Big 12 Championship Game, and I'm hoping for an A&M-LSU matchup in the Cotton Bowl.

Looks like you were with a sensible crowd ;) I'm just glad that Tech gave them a true challenge. A UGA blowout would have been much more unfortunate.

ACC?!?

Haha yea, it was a tough call to include them but I am never impressed by the big 10:p

Now it looks like a classic NU vs OU matchup for the Big 12...........I would wager this being a greater rivalry than OU/Texas......oh how I long for the Big 8 days!

GO BlG RED
