Yep!But it was a great game (from a spectator standpoint) to watch. Kept you watching until the last play. On a different note, what do you think will happen in the SEC Championship? Think S. Carolina has a chance? I'm honestly thinking they will upset Auburn. I'd personally hate to have to face Spurrier twice in a season and give him a 2nd crack at my team. And when S. Carolina has their act together, they seem to be a very, very good team.
The Gamecocks can play very well (Alabama) and lay an egg (Kentucky)
They played Auburn tough the first game, and they are playing with intensity now
Could be a good game, and I would love to see the upset
If Lattimore can control the clock and keep Auburn off the field, they have a shot
You mean the part of your fight song that you copied from our original (....to hell with Georgia, like his daddy used to do....)?And "being a good sport"??? In that game? Hell...all "good sportsmanship" goes out the window during that game! I'd slap my mama she sang the UGA fight song!

Yeah, that's the same way I feel about the University of Mississippi. I've never understood these people who say stuff like "you should root for the state/conference schools". Uh, no. They could be playing Satan in a game of hopscotch, and I would root for Ol' Scratch himself. My favorite team is Mississippi State and whoever is playing the University of Mississippi (AKA The School up North). (They really don't like it when you call 'em that)
I like to pull for our conference schools (like there's much hope pulling for any ACC schools against non-conference schools the last few years...the ACC stinks top to bottom!), but you can bet your sweet butt that I'd still pull against UGA even if we were in the same conference. I just don't think any true fan of any school (especially when you attended said school) can really pull for their most heated rival. I think that's part of being a true fan of a team/school. Hell, I'm honestly happier when UGA loses any game than when we (Tech) win any game. Throw a Tech win in there on the same day and it's a bonus!![]()
So, yeah, the rest of the SEC can go to hell for all I care.

I pretty much hate the rest of the SEC because of their obsessive hatred of our cowbells. In 1974, Shug Jordan whined to the SEC that his team couldn't hear on the field because of the cowbells, and every other SEC team voted to ban "artificial noisemakers". In the 90s, using the NCAA's "excessive crowd noise" rule, they again voted 11-1 in banning cowbells, and imposing penalities on us for using them. Thankfully, the NCAA ditched that rule a couple of years later, and they couldn't slap us with a penalty anymore. Then, last year, the SEC ADs voted in the "cowbell compromise", which generously allowed us to use them at home legally during certain times. Using them at inappropriate times will result in fines, and Mike Slive has already said there will be fines at the end of the season. Oh yeah, and it was a one year deal that will be "reviewed" at next year's SEC AD meetings. I fully expect them to ban cowbells once again.
I don't know why they are all obsessed with banning the cowbells. Coincidentally, the issue has always popped up when we are actually enjoying decent success. I find it hard to believe that the second smallest stadium in the conference with cowbells is really any louder than say, Alabama or Tennessee, both of which are almost double our capacity. So, yeah, the rest of the SEC can go to hell for all I care.
Hell, I've always thought Clemson seemed more like an SEC school anyway, especially their obnoxious fans.

Any day the Dawgs lose, I can almost always comfort myself with "well, at least Tech lost."![]()
I think Mississippi State, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia and maybe even a few others in the SEC would go undefeated on Boise or TCU's schedule.
randy shannon got canned from the u.
Tap the breaks there, bud. UGA lost to Colorado. South Carolina lost to Kentucky.
I heard a rumor that Dan Mullen might be a target for the Miami job. Any news on that front, steve2112?
Yeah, I have heard the same. Truthfully, I don't think he will leave the SEC except for a really big school like Michigan or Penn State, and he has a lot more to do before being considered for a job like that. I don't think money will be an issue since thanks to the nice, fat ESPN contract, we can match salary with a lot of schools. He will probably go over $2 mil/year after this season. I really don't think Miami is the prestige job it used to be. They really haven't been relevant in the last decade. They are .500 in conference play and haven't made it to an ACC title game yet in a weak ACC.
And I think we would have won at least 9-10 games with Boise or TCU's schedule.
Edit: Just wanted to add that Houston Nutt may be available to coach the Hurricanes. Lots of Black Bear fans aren't happy with him today.
Lots of reports are coming out now that Gruden was offered $3 million/year to coach the Canes, and that he will be the Canes head coach. IF this is the case, this is the rebirth of the Canes. Gruden would have a similar effect for the Canes that Meyer had for the Gaturds. He would KILL in recruiting, and would bring that swagger back to the U. On top of that, the coaching would instantly become respectable in Coral Gables again, as Gruden is a MUCH better coach than Shannon.
I would be shocked if Gruden took the 'Canes job
They couldn't get anyone to take it when Shannon got it
and that $3M is way out of line with the U's budget for a coach
Yeah, that's the way I see it. Despite all their past success, Miami's athletics budget isn't all that great. That's why I said if it's money, I think we can keep up with them and lots of other schools. I honestly would expect Gruden to go after an NFL job if he goes anywhere.
What the hell man? We aren't THAT bad. When we do win, it's because of our offense. Imagine if we had anything resembling a defense over the past 3 seasons. Wouldn't be half bad!....The ACC is not the SEC, the Pac 10 or the Big 12. Hell, when Wake Forest and Ga Tech are ACC Champs you are only half a step ahead of the irrelevant Big East...

I think if he took a college job it would be a big money, high profile, win now prospect like Saban's deal at 'Bama. Not sure Miami has the money or the win now prospect. The ACC is not the SEC, the Pac 10 or the Big 12. Hell, when Wake Forest and Ga Tech are ACC Champs you are only half a step ahead of the irrelevant Big East. Florida State and Miami are only shadows of their former selves, and their appeal is far less than their fans want to imagine.

Again, from what I have read, Hocutt has $3 million to spend on a head coach. And going by his presser today, he wants to bring the Canes back to where they belong, in the national spotlight. Miami is a high profile school, and definitely in a win now situation. They have a lot of talent on the current roster, with some real good recruits coming in. Gruden would put the school back in the national spotlight.
Yeah, you're right, the Big East is pathetic
It will be interesting to see how well you fare now with your QB gone
He was the motor that drove your offense
You need a great replacement... fast

Stranger things have happened I suppose, but I will still be surprised if that is how it goes down
And while I like Gruden, I think he would have a rough road at the U... anybody will
They are still living off their past glory
And its their past glory that still keeps them in the recruiting game. Miami runs a pro style offense, and still is one of the best schools in the country, in terms of getting their players ready for the NFL. They are two years removed from the #1 recruiting class in the nation, had a solid class last year, and have some high ranking recruits for next season. Talent hasnt been an issue the past couple of seasons, coaching has. They have good relationships with most of the top high schools in the county, and a Gruden hire would be extremely beneficial for recruiting, which is just as important as coaching in CFB. And IIRC, Gruden is a pretty good coach as well.
