Florida has fallen now, after one average season? What has Georgia done then? Amputated at the knee?

That comment was directed at "the U" and their coaching hire
A once proud program that has truly fallen

No, the Gators have not fallen, they had a mediocre season, as did the Dawgs
And with the Muschamp hire, they have the opportunity to dominate again
But Florida State does appear to have the upper hand right now in the state

Oh ok I understand. I was gonna say wow! IMO Florida State beating Florida had more to do with Florida being terribly coached this year, than Florida State being "back." Florida absolutely killed themselves in that game against FSU.

First year head coach beating his two in state rivals and making it to the conference championship game has got to be a boost to recruiting. I don't think FSU is truly "back" yet either, but if they can string a few really good seasons together, they can put some distance between them and Miami and put the pressure on the Gators again.

The "Big 10" announced the (stupid) names of its new divisions and (boring) new logo today.

Leaders Division
Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin

Legends Division
Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern

Don Draper couldn't believe it.

Gus Malzahn turned down the Vanderbilt job and was rewarded by Auburn. Handsomely.

Gus Malzahn has more than doubled his salary and received a contract extension that gives Auburn's offensive coordinator one of the most lucrative deals for an assistant coach in the country.

All of Auburn assistants, as well as head coach Gene Chizik, will receive raises. The raises were approved by the university's compensation committee last week.

Malzahn, who had a $500,000 contract, has agreed to a $1.3 million annual contract that is longer than the three-year deal he had been working under.

Is there anybody that still doesn't think the Newton's got their cut from all of this?

Chizik and Malzahn rode that pony all the way to the bank with Cecil

I honestly don't think much of either one as a coach
They had the best player in the country and stayed out of his way

"Leaders" and "Legends" Divisions!? Did the Big Ten do some co-marketing deal with Donald Trump to get those teams to compete against each other on the next season of The Apprentice?

What is this?? I don't even...

OK, I see the one there...did they hide a 2 in there somewhere?

A) Define "good record"
B) Tell that to Auburn's 2004 team

By all indications, Florida tried to steal a bigger names away from someone (Stoops, Petrino, Harbaugh, Mullen, etc.) but ended up hiring a coordinator. A good one, for sure, but not the "big splash" guy all the idiots in the media assumed they would get. They didn't steal a big-time head coach away from a power program, but instead got a guy who was sick of waiting on the better job he had already taken "in waiting."

I'm sure the Sun Belt would love to have you.

But...but...Muschamp was the only one they contacted!! They weren't interested in anybody else!

Anyway, yeah, Auburn got screwed in 04, but then again, LSU got into the BCS title game with 2 losses. Go figure. Personally, I feel if you go undefeated in the SEC, you pretty much deserve a spot in the BCS title game. Talk about brutal.

Oh yeah, the 43% was Temple's all time record. Ours is a whopping...48%. :(

At least we have been in a tough conference, though.

No...they actually "hid" a zero in there...according to what I've read, the "G" is also supposed to be shaped like a zero, to "hide" the number 10 in the "Big" of Big Ten...which is 12 teams. But apparently, according to Delany (the Big10 Commish), the name "Big 10" has brand recognition and they didn't want to change it. Just stupid all around to me, especially when you throw in those idiotic division names.

I really don't see the point of calling it the Big 10 and putting the word "TEN" and the numeral "10" in there when there are 12 teams. Stupid. From the ESPN article...

The logo is a block "Big Ten" which includes an homage to the original 10 members with those numerals embedded in the last two letters of the word Big.

The design firm Pentagram came up with the new logo. And, no, the conference never seriously considered putting a 12 in its logo or changing its well-known brand name to include the number of members today.

That's what I'm saying...it seems everything they announced today was stupid. The logo, the division names...just seems all amateur-ish. Legends and Leaders? As division names in a conference? And I thought our "Atlantic" and "Coastal" divisions were unoriginal....

Kind of like how the "Big 12" is going to have 10 teams, eh?

And those divisions are just totally stupid. I thought the ACC divisions were bad, but this one is even worse.

I had an idea a few weeks ago that the division names should change each season and be named after the team that won the division the previous season. So next year it would be the Badger and Spartan divisions.

Too bad there aren't a few more rodent mascots.

I laughed!

You could also have the "People" (Spartans, Illini, Hoosiers, Huskers, Hawkeyes, Boilermakers) and "Not People" (Wildcats, Wolverines, Buckeyes, Gophers, Nittany Lions, Badgers) divisions, but that's not as funny.

Great (or twisted) minds think alike.

I mean I understand why the ACC didn't do a "north/south" conference split/naming convention, as they had key rivalries/match-ups that they wanted to keep, plus wanted to keep both "powerhouse" (at the time the ACC expanded) Florida teams in separate divisions so that the possibility of them meeting in the conference championship stayed alive, but our division names suck! At least they aren't the worst in the nation now...that belongs to the Big10...err....12...no wait, 10.
