Well the game started out really well for us but in the end we just didn't have the horses to stay with LSU. Once Michael Hodges got hurt we couldn't stop their running game at all, and Jefferson made a ton of plays on 3rd Down that never let us get off the field. Kudos to the Tigers, they were just the better team.

This was the difference in the game I think
For some reason, A&M could never contain him when they needed a stop

Edit:
NCAA questions pair about Newton Sr.

NCAA investigators have interviewed two Atlanta-area men about whether they were asked to or did deliver money to the father of Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton in connection with repairs to Cecil Newton Sr.’s church in Newnan, Ga.

Emory Wilcox and Eddie Norris were separately questioned the week before Christmas by two NCAA investigators, one of which was Jackie Thurnes, the NCAA’s associate director of enforcement.

The truth will eventually come out
And Auburn will vacate
And the Heisman will be returned

You know its true

Yeah he probably had the best game of his career last night. It didn't help that we lost Michael Hodges, our starting MLB (we were up 10-0 at the time) or that his backup is pretty terrible, but in the end it probably wouldn't have mattered. They were stronger than us at the point of attack and wore down the defense as the game went on. We led the Big 12 in rushing D this year, but LSU just kept pounding away and ended up with almost 300 yards rushing. We had to commit too much to stopping the run and it opened up the secondary. Plus, LSU's receivers made some incredible catches, especially on 3rd Down.

There's a reason LSU has been a top 10 team pretty much all year, and they proved it emphatically last night. There are a lot of rumors that Miles is going to split and head for Michigan, and I wouldn't blame him one bit if he did. He's not a perfect coach by any means and he has bizarre clock management issues, but the guy just wins, plain and simple. LSU has had six 11 win seasons in their history, and four of them have come in Miles's six seasons as head coach. LSU fans might rejoice when he leaves (be it now or sometime in the future) but I really think they'll end up rueing that day.

Can someone explain why the center hash marks are different between college and the pros.

Can someone explain why the center hash marks are different between college and the pros.

My understanding is that the NFL has them closer together because they don't want what side of the field the ball is spotted on to be as much of a factor in the game as it is in college (meaning: the wide side isn't as wide and the boundary side isn't as narrow). It's an attempt to help the offenses make the game more wide open because the defense doesn't have the sideline being as much of a "defender" on sweeps.

ESPN's Joe Schad tweeted this...

Ohio St announces it will formally appeal to NCAA fb player suspension length

Yeah, the did such a fine job in the Sugar Bowl, let's don't punish them at all

AJ Green got 4 games for selling his jersey for Spring Break money
These guys sold their rings and more for tattoos, and they are now gonna get less?
Why??

The NCAA is awesome

Why fine them at all, if they are not cheating during the game who cares what they do. The schools and NCAA make so much money off of these kids let them make some money.

The NCAA rules are ludicrous, but their biggest problem is the selective enforcement of said rules. Big programs and star players are often (usually) above the NCAA "law" and everyone knows it. The system is not only corrupt, it's downright broken.

The Cam Newton fiasco, followed so closely by this nonsense, could end up destroying the NCAA. We can only hope...

Bah! You beat me to it! I was just about to post this.

As a 49ers fan, I really hope he is as successful in the NFL as he has been at the college level. The real problem with the Niners, though, is at the top. They need new ownership and management. I miss Eddie DeBartlo and Carmen Policy.

But most of all, I miss Bill Walsh.

As a seriously lapsed 49ers fan, if Harbaugh can make a difference to that team, then it's all good. Just hope Stanford can hang on to most of their new recruits and hopefully some of the key coaches / coordinators, then, of course, hire a good head coach. Apparently Stanford is talking to Chris Petersen - that would be a fantastic, fantastic hire.

And Jerry, and Steve, and Joe, and Ronnie, and George(george seifert that is), and Dwight.

stop me when we name everyone who made this franchise what is was and what we hope Jim can bring it back to(though I will settle for a playoff team)

according to an article I read, one sticking point will be Petersen's son-he has some kind of disease.

Keep in mind, Petersen’s son survived cancer as a young child, and still undergoes regular treatment from a specific doctor in Boise -- who is supposedly a major reason the family has been unwilling to leave town. Though I hear there’s a pretty good hospital in the vicinity of Stanford.

While Stanford hospital is one of the best in the country, I have a hard time seeing him move his family based on those cirucmstances

Oh I know. I just said those two, since the owner and GM were the ones who brought the coaches and players in. Until the front office gives the coach the support he needs, they will still have problems.

Has there ever been a worse sports commercial than this Tebow nonsense where he keeps telling us what everyone said he couldn't do? Yeah, yeah...we know everyone thought you couldn't play in the NFL (jury is still very much out on that, btw), but no one ever told him he couldn't get a D-1 scholarship when he was a 5-star, #1-rated high school QB in the country. No one ever told him he couldn't win a national title or the Heisman (quite the opposite, in fact).

I have nothing personally against Tebow but after watching that drivel over and over, I can say, without reservation, **** you Tebow, you lying sack of ****. Anything for a buck, right Mr. Look-How-Christian-I-Am?

Stanford, is going to enter total self destruct mode this next year with Harbaugh leaving. Also, The Montana LB coach has resigned. I don't think the newspapers know about this yet... :p

Even in the pros he is all the news regardless of whether he has ever done anything or not

John Elway denies Tim Tebow rumor

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- John Elway is barely into his first weekend as the Denver Broncos' new chief of football operations and already he's in damage-control mode.

Elway took to his Twitter account Saturday to deny speculation he would trade quarterback Tim Tebow.

I asked in the NFL thread if anyone thought Denver might have a hard time getting a quality coach because of either having to accept Tebow as "your guy" or by being the one to dump him. Mularkey of the Falcons canceled his Denver interview and interviewed with Cleveland instead.

It's an attempt to help the offenses make the game more wide open because the defense doesn't have the sideline being as much of a "defender" on sweeps.

The wider hash marks also had a very serious effect on kickers--kickers had to "hook or slice" the ball trajectory much more severely at the college level, so a field goal attempt may succeed a lot less. If the NFL were to go back to the NCAA standard for hash marks the level of offense would drop tremendously, especially for running backs.

There are increasingly rumors that Boise State coach Chris Petersen is being wooed by Stanford. As such, don't be surprised that Petersen ends up at Stanford within a month or so....

Although I would like to see SEC dominance of the BCS continue, I can't bring myself to root for a thug like Fairley, a liar and cheat like Newton, and a dirty program like Auburn

Quack, Quack... the Quack Attack

You are very wrong. But I won't go into detail if yo don't want me to, some people have to dig for reasons to hate

And some people love blindly no matter the evidence. Tebow was the #1 QB recruit coming out of high school and the first person Urban Meyer talked to when he took the job at FU. No one tells that kind of player that he a) can't get a D-1 scholarship b) can't win a Heisman trophy and c) can't win a national championship. In fact, everyone tells that kind of player the exact opposite.

In other news, AJ Green is headed to the NFL. I think we all knew it was coming but its official now. With Andrew Luck staying in school, Green coming out is a no-brainer since he might be the #1 pick overall now. I hope this will give Jeff Fuller a little more to think about before making his own decision. We need him back next year.

So,,,,, What is the final vote for people around here for the big game. Who is going for who?

Me: Ducks.

I have to admit I'm torn. I really want to see Auburn get torched and watch the lamentations of their fans, and see them driving before the Ducks. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing them win it all, only to have it stripped away if/when the NCAA puts them on probation. And, while I really can't stand most of the other teams in the SEC, I do find the SEC continually winning drives fans of other conferences insane and that is fairly amusing.

Oh yeah, speaking of Auburn: People in Louisiana are questioning their sudden success in recruiting the state.

Yep, because Tebow was a lightly recruited, two star walk-on at Florida. Oh wait, he was a 5 star player recruited by some of the biggest names in college football. So, how exactly was Ignatius wrong?

Haven't they played this game yet? It's almost March Madness.
