As I posted in another thread, I got mine yesterday and was told to have been the last of around 10 at that particular store. Had I done it a day or so later, I wouldn't have got a replacement.

Date of appointment: July 12
Took credit card info: July 14
Credit Card Charged (replacement shipped): Unknown, account charged July 24
Replacement picked up (or rejected): July 27
Replacement Model: Space grey 2017 MBP 15" 2.8GHz/16gb RAM/256gb SSD/Radeon Pro 555 (int keyboard)
Apple online repair status: No info available
Germany, NRW

My 2012 rMBP would have turned 5 years old today, I feel a little sad for exchanging it so unceremoniously... best piece of tech I've ever bought. I wasn't expecting much of a difference with the new version, but wow! all the little changes add up to make for an awesome experience (especially the speakers!), cheers apple!

What Apple Store in NRW? Cologne, Schildergasse?

If you haven't already I would suggest calling them and checking in on it. Perhaps there was an issue processing the card? That seems a long time to wait

I did, they just say it takes 7 days or a week to process payments. He says otherwise everything is fine. He'd call me ASAP if there were any issues.

Well it's actually because my model was only finally confirmed on Tuesday, although they did take my details a couple of days before that.

I have a friend that bought 6 old 2012 15 inchers of ebay. He replaced 5 of them with 2015 models at different apple stores and then pushed them back to craigslist. All in all a nice profit :).
He's super pissed that apple refuses to replace his 6th one. He's gonna lose money cause they took it in and are going to change the battery...
Yea thats not cool at all.

Yeah I'd have even harsher words than others, but I don't want to be suspended. He helped ruin it for everyone else.

I'm in the same situation. Went in to a California store at 2.15pm on the 25th. Let us know if you get anywhere...

Just finished talking to a senior advisor from apple. They agreed to replace my battery for free or buy back my laptop from me for $500. Really?! 500 for my personal computer? I personally think that is absolute garbage. So, I will reluctantly choose to keep my computer and get the battery replaced.

In regards to the CRU that they agreed to give me on the 25th... They told me it was determined on a case-by-case basis whether who gets the CRU or not, EVEN after submitting the work authorization from the store (as that is just a request for a CRU, nothing promised). A completely separate department makes this decision, and no one else has access to the "why" information of these denied CRUs. I pushed that my case was a genuine issue, and that I couldn't make sense of why I was singled out, but she just relayed me to the customer relations team who "could provide more answers than me". Frankly, I'm done playing phone tag, and I guess I will accept my fate begrudgingly. At least my battery will get replaced for free, eventually... (that won't even happen for another 2 weeks at least, bringing us back to square one!). Whatever, I'm over it.

Yeah. My representative said they have to order it from China where they're manufactured and simply can't pick one off the shelf or anything like that. Shipping takes forever too.

I went in last Monday and they just grabbed a 2017 out of their inventory and let me take it right then. They even let me pay the difference and buy the upgraded version (2.9 GHz 512 ssd). Were they not supposed to do this and I just got lucky?

Is there a support email address that I could message to attempt to get a change in their resolution? I feel I could word it better in text rather than on the phone! :p

We have the exact same dates and even the same spec 2012 machine. I'm very curious to see what we get, because some that have similar specs were given 2016 TB.

I saw that. I doubt there's any specific mapping of original to replacement model. My guess is they take the closest match spec wise from their returned / refurbished 2016 and 2017 inventory and ship that out.

For you, yes. For me? I went in on the same day and I'm not getting a new laptop. Make sure you tell your grandkids that too.

Well, from what I'm seeing, it looks as though they don't have anymore 2015 machines and everyone is getting 2016-17 TouchBars. Fingers crossed!
