For you, yes. For me? I went in on the same day and I'm not getting a new laptop. Make sure you tell your grandkids that too.

I'm sorry - I guess it was luck of the draw maybe. But I was in pretty severe need of a fix so this was more than icing on the cake.

Well, from what I'm seeing, it looks as though they don't have anymore 2015 machines and everyone is getting 2016-17 TouchBars. Fingers crossed!

Wow, nice machine you received

Thanks - yes I thought I was going to get a 2017 according to the store person but its s 2016 - no problem at all. I had a CTO 2012 so I guess they matched as much as they could. The equivalent today would be a 2017 3.1Ghz/16GB/2TB which is a $5k machine - I can see their logic in not going there.

I've been told by 2 different employees that I'd be getting a 2015 machine, but it seems that nobody here has. I hope you're right!

I guess it depends what refurbs are in stock - maybe there are less of the older models available because the demand for their I/O features is higher?

Gotta say - WELL impressed with the refurb unit - like brand new - flawless. Would definitely recommend that route for potential buyers.

Anyone have any luck swapping out old 85W adapters for the new 87W ones when they replaced the machines?

Do deliveries to stores happen on weekends? Most seem to be getting their replacements 1-2 days after credit card is charged. My card was charged this morning which means the item shipped. I wonder if I may get a call tomorrow from the store??

I went in last Monday and they just grabbed a 2017 out of their inventory and let me take it right then. They even let me pay the difference and buy the upgraded version (2.9 GHz 512 ssd). Were they not supposed to do this and I just got lucky?

I asked if I could do that and they told me no they weren't allowed to do that anymore. Something about going through the proper replacement channels

I know that when iPhones launch that apple stores get stock delivery on Saturdays. I’m hoping that is the case generally cause I too got charged this morning.

Guys do you think I could get a replacement if I go today in an Apple Store in London? I have a 2012 Mbp and my battery has been dying constantly even at 40%. I already booked but I was curious if you already have any idea of the possible outcome... thanks

You could get a replacement battery but there would be a charge and a slight delay as they wait for new stock. The offer a free battery or replacement machine for the cost of a battery ended on Wednesday.

That's too bad, it looks like it's pointless to try, isn't it?
Would they tell me right away at the store whether they are replacing the entire laptop or will I discover that later? Maybe I can try and see what happens, but I don't want to pay for a replacement battery.

I almost certain that you won't be offered a free replacement computer. Apple did not have the replacement parts which contain the battery and was offering either a free replacement battery in September or a refurbished MacBook Pro (for the cost of the battery). Apple will be able to replace the batteries shortly so is no longer offering these options.

Apple should run a test when you go to the store which will not cost anything. When I went, they were very keen to take it in for testing (rather than doing an immediate test). I signed an authorisation form which stated no charge. If they proceed to carry out any work, they will inform you of the cost before carrying out the work.

It's pointless to go to the store if you are only after a replacement MacBook. It won't happen. If you will accept a battery, there is a small possibility that they will do this without charge but more likely you will have to pay £199 (which you can decline and leave with your device and no charge).

I presume that you have checked the number of cycles of the battery and run the coconutBattery test?

Thanks for the informative answer, I am going anyway... let's see how it goes. If they offer a free battery it will be worth the trip, mine keeps dying. I have 600+ cycles and 75% capacity. It was telling me to service it, but it doesn't anymore. Wonder why...

Keep us informed as I'm in London too. Went in on the 25th and even though my battery dies really quickly, it peaks at 81% and they wouldn't replace it on the spot. The Tech told me to come back in a week as the 'deal' would still be running and Id have probably lost the extra 1% by then.

Unfortunately they didn't mention any laptop replacement program, she verified my battery was dead and then said new batteries are ready in two weeks and that I could have a new battery + top case replaced (not the entire laptop) for 199£. I didn't go for it and I was about to leave when she told me I could replace my screen for free because she could see some of my retina coating was coming off. So new display, not too bad!

I'm still waiting for my card to be charged - my appointment with them was on the 22nd.

The genius told me that a replacement would be ordered asap. Nervously waiting for the ad to be charged!

Interesting. I took mine in on 25th and left it with them as they had issues running the tests in store. Day 4 and they’ve not repaired it yet according to the store (sounds like they may not have even looked at it yet). Technically, I could be eligible for replacement as repair was before cutoff date but it’s a bit grey so not expecting it. Im surprised they told you that you could come back in a week. I wonder if they know that for sure (perhaps because the case was raised before 26th) or whether they were not aware that the policy changed?

You could always ask again for battery replacement as it didn’t happen overnight and you would have been eligible just a few days ago. Did you leave the device with them for the screen?

Well they said the battery replacement wasn't free and I told them I didn't want to pay 200 bucks for it. I left the device with them and after 4 hours was ready for pickup o_O

Which store did you go to? If they confirmed the screen replacement, you could ask when you return to get this done or try a different store.

Judging by how quiet it is no one got their cru today.

I called my Apple store to see if mine came in and the employee told me that it was ready. I get there and the genius admin was like “nope. Someone told you wrong. You’ll get an email when it’s here.”

I think we'll be collecting on Monday.
