If the league was going to cut every player who is a distraction there would not be many left.

These teams have to know that a lot of their players are involved in some undesirable things.
No argument there.

Because the Redskins are not screwed up enough, now there is another reason to enjoy the circus. DeSean Jackson has entered the tent.
I saw that, it will be interesting to see how this plays out on the field and his impact in the clubhouse, i.e., will he cause more distractions or be caustic. I think on the field he's a huge upgrade for RG III and improve the teams chances to win more games.

The only difference is that Desean is a very talented receiver still in his prime so his performance outweighs the distraction for another couple of years until he begins to decline. Imagine how much he is going to stretch the field for them and allow Garcon to go crazy with underneath routes. If they use him properly thats a huge boost for that offense.

DeSean will not be the biggest distraction on that team, the owner will. DeSean will just be another sideshow act.

Come on. If the Giants signed him, you'd be happy as ****. Eli needs a quality receiver to underthrow to. :D

Who's excited for full schedule release tomorrow? :p

I'm over baseball already lol and its only been like 2 weeks. (perhaps its because the mets have sucked for so long)

Anyhow schedule release is a big deal for me and my buddies because we go to a different stadium every season. Last year we went to the opening sunday night game in Dallas against the Giants. This year we are going to go check out either New Orleans or Green Bay depending how the schedule shakes out.

Honestly I won't care about football until at least Labor Day.

19 more Sundays until the NFL is back!!

Forget the schedules, let's get on with the draft.

Probably a little easier to do when you are following the Yankees..... Try being a Mets fan, you'll be wishing for the season to be over after the first pitch

Why even bother to follow the Mets, you always know the outcome.

Aint that the truth! The extra wait has been brutal - especially living in the city with the #1 Pick. Even with the Rockets in the playoffs, it's all they talk about.

On the bright side, it's an awesome excuse to have a party on a Thursday night. :D

Snyder hasn't been a "distraction" on that team for a couple years now...knock him all you want, but he has realized that it's a better idea to hire "football guys" to do the football things...and it's slowly starting to show. On the other hand, you have Jerry Jones...who has not seen the light and is still trying to be the football guy that he's not or never will be.

DeSean should,do just fine there with Garçon on the other side...

Sure he is a distraction. He refuses to change the name of the team even after just about everyone in the country thinks it is offensive. Plus he has a hard on for RG3 and ran Shanahan out of town because of it. He has no business owning a team.

2014-15 NFL season thread

One small group is protesting that the name be changed. When polled, only about 40% think the name should be changed and any diehard football fan thinks the whole name change thing is a joke. HARDLY everyone in the country.

The Oneida Indian Nation is the one protesting...about 1000 members. However, there are 556 total Nations...555 of them don't care.

That "distraction" doesn't fall on Daniel Snyder. that is a media created distraction...Snyder has nothing to do with that. It's silly to say he's creating that distraction.

As for Shanahan, he is well past his prime...he clearly had to go...part of being an owner. Lol.

40% is not a significant enough number to change it? I also wonder how those numbers are skewed by certain groups not being offended by it. I'm a diehard football fan, and I think it is incredibly offensive. I honestly don't see how people don't think it is...redskins, really? Especially given this country's atrocious past in regards to treatment of Native Americans?

It's a damned football team, not a sacred text. It should be changed.

unbelievable. I can't believe you actually buy those "numbers". The name Redskins is no less offensive than having a team named the Oakland N-words.

I love how so many people all of a sudden think its an offensive name, just because the media has made such a big deal out of this whole thing. People who had no issue with the name for sooo many years, now all of a sudden woke up one day and decided that they find it offensive.

I don't know that this is necessarily a new thing. How long ago did St. John's change their name? They certainly didn't do it because they wanted a cute, new, cuddly horse mascot. People have also been complaining about Chief Wahoo on the Indians cap for a long time as well.

Frankly, I see it as a win win. The Redskins do the right thing and change their name (and honestly, it's offensive) and they get to sell shiny, brand new jerseys and hats and t-shirts which Redskins fans will buy in droves, just as all NFL fans do when a new logo, or jersey, is introduced.
