I had not watched MNF in years and found myself watching the Falcons play a while back
I was surprised how much I didn't like Gruden
His style and schtick seemed old and stale and more than a bit contrived

JDR just got fired by the raiders so gruden might be leaving MNF...

Supposedly he wants to go back to Tampa. But the deal the Raiders are reportedly offering is a sweet deal.

The Bills made the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

Looks like O'Brien may be back in 2018 for the Texans
Texans likely to keep Bill O'Brien as head coach, sources say

Tbh, I'm not sure about it, he's been there since, he's 31 and 32 with the Texans, they had some decent seasons with him, but they never really seemed able to get to the next level. Plus I heard the relationship with the GM is toxic, don't know if that's really true or not though.

The solution is to get rid of Rick Smith. It ain't the coaching staff, as was proven by the previous coaching staff (Kubiak and Son of Bum) that when on to win the Super Bowl with a different roster. The GM was responsible for the whole Osweiler mistake had a crippling effect on the franchise. It cost $18M, a 4th AND 36th overall pick to rectify that mistake.

ESPN reported Saturday that Raiders owner Mark Davis was prepared to pursue Gruden with a strong offer that could include an ownership stake in the team.

That will bring Gruden to Oakland again.

Jeez you would think Gruden is the second coming, the way teams pursue him and rumors fly around every year, was he really that great of a coach when he was in TB? Or just an above average coach who won a SB with a great defense?

I think they see the crap he does on ESPN and assume he's a good coach.

i think he's that good!

when you think bout it you could say he coached two teams into the same super bowl, OAK vs TB.
the raiders were his team the season before and they didn't change anything from his tenure.
so much so that he told his new team, TB, what to expect and they ate it up.
they knew every audible and every formation because for some reason HC Callahan didn't change anything.
they were never check mated by our offense.

I didn't see that coming in all honesty.

James, by rule, didn't have possession because he didn't "survive the ground", but can you really argue that he didn't have possession when he clearly caught the ball and had enough control over it to extend it forward over the goal line.

The problem with eliminating the requirement that a receiver "survives the ground" is you then have a lot more fumbles, and it's not enough to say "the ground can't cause a fumble". Say a receiver catches the ball, falls down and isn't touched, the ball comes out, and an opponent picks it up and is tackled. Now what? The receiver had possession, wasn't down, but lost the ball.

That's true, plus his OAK team probably should have been in the Superbowl if it wasn't for that B.S. tuck rule call the Patriots got.

Looks like Palmer is calling it a career.

Pretty understandable. I think the retirement of Bruce Arians played a part in Palmer's decision. It would be a pain in the (_!_) to learn a new system in the twilight of your career. And the man has taken a licking throughout his career. It's best to walk away from the game when you can still walk.

While he can still walk! Isn't that the truth. He took a pretty nasty fall due to an ankle injury a few years back if I remember correctly. While he was playing for Cinci.

Ya Palmer did a lot better with Arizona than he did with the Bengals.

I had already thought his career was over when he went to Arizona.

Looks like Palmer is calling it a career. I can't believe he has been in the league that long. For some reason I thought he started later in the NFL then he did.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer on retirement: 'I just know'

Anyone remember when that douche from the Steelers tapped his knee and tore his ACL? It was in a playoff game. He thought it was funny when he did it too. Ass.

It all depends on which Cam Newton shows up, otherwise it will be another blowout like the 2 regular season games they played.

I just want someone to please, please, please beat the damn patriots, I don't think I can watch the superbowl if they are in it again... and if they win another one it might just drive me to soccer ugh!
