Would you mind posting a screenshot of where you're looking? I checked every single color profile and every single line, but no A0##'s to be found.

I am proud of my nudie ness! I had checked all the "profiles" without actually checking the main "color display" heading, lol! Here's what I got:

pqO40v8.png

Also, what profile have you guys settled on? I like:

sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and Rec. ITU-R BT.709-5 best for colors. I think Rec is a bit dark and sRGB a bit bright. I'm not sure how to calibrate...but I will say the display looks FAR FAR FAR better than the Dell XPS 13 and HP Spectre x360's I had considered. The Microsoft Surface Laptop looked alright, but it had other issues...bending base when typing, CRAP touchpad, slower performance...winblows, lol! I will also say NONE of the notebooks had such a good sense of connection when browsing the web. Something just feels off on those Windows PC"s.

This is 2017 15", Manufacturer 610, Model A030. Bought a few days ago from Best Buy, during -$275 discount event.
No bleeding, no clouding, but right and left sides are not perfect. I'm not sure what to do with it, I'd like to return it but I wonder if I can get a better screen in reality. Took this photo at 60% brightness.

A030 in my experience are all having pink tint on left side, but the backlit is more even. and less eye strain feel.

A031 have backlit uneven across the entire panel with dark patch at random area on the screen. More overly yellow tint, but still uneven tint from left to right in a pretty dramatic amount.

2017 13" Non-touchbar with A034. Good uniformity and looks great overall. Loving this laptop so far.

I received my fifth 13" MacBook Pro on Friday so I figured I'd upload some pictures I took of all of the ones I've received so far.

You can see in the picture of the #1 and #2 how uneven the backlight is. The right side on MacBook #1 was very obviously yellow and made all white space looks dingy. #2 had terrible backlight bleeding and the bottom case was also chipped in all four corners.

MacBook #3 was yellow again, especially along the bottom where things looked sepia toned. This one also had a problem where the top row of keys (starting at Q and ending with I) made a rattling sound when you typed, like they were loose.

MacBook #4 has another yellow screen, mostly concentrated on the right side. There was also a spot in the middle where the colours almost seem to be over saturated and hard to look at. I tried to live with this one but it started making a loud popping noise whenever it heated up, which according to another thread is fixed by replacing the screen.

MacBook #5 is the most even of the bunch. It's not 100% by any means and like the others it also has an A033 screen. Side by side with #4 it's a night and day difference as far as colour temperature goes. When I'm looking for it I can see uneven spots (slightly pink in the bottom right corner at some angles) but so far in day to day use it hasn't bothered me as much. #5 however arrived with some sort of glue seeping from the edge of the glass. It was dried on the screen and I was able to wipe it off, but it is a little worrisome. One of the rubber feet is also lifted up on the bottom case. At this point I think it's more a matter of finding one with issues I can live with rather than trying to find one that's perfect.

Hi guys, just bought a 2017 TB 13inch and while theres no backlight bleed or banding, parts of the screen appear to have different hues than others. E.g. right side looks a little darker etc. I was wondering where I'd be able to get that 16 trees picture to be able to assess it a bit better to see if its worth returning. I have an A033 btw. Cheers

What you guys think about my 15"? Screen was 100% and model is A031

uzhe0iZ.jpg

And Backlight bleed test in 100% dark room and 100% brightness

What you guys think? There is tiniest bit of bleed in the bottom....

I can see the backlight bleed at the bottom and maybe a little in the upper right hand side but it doesn't look too bad. I found with mine that sometimes the camera makes it more pronounced than it looks in person. The colour looks fairly even though.

Yellow tint on the right as usual for A031.

Left is a bit red, which I find it to be odd because that usually only exist in A030.

Yeah I am not sure should I keep this or not..... There is a little bit of Backlight bleed at the bottom.... It isn't flashlight evect but idk.... If somebody with 15" could report that can I even get better screen...? Is there a change for that?

https://imgur.com/M9tLLRF This picture shows it more clearly.

And yes, there is a bit of red tint on the left. (noticed it when writing this)

E: Allready packed it up and tomorrow going to bring it back. There is always going to be backlight bleed on LCD screen. But for the product that costs 3400€, it's too much. It would bother me for the rest of the time i would use the laptop. (Going to order second one tho)

Offtopic: But... For the 1 day i used Mac for the first time ever. I am ascended. More than 15 years i have been using Windows, and the first day i got the Mac i feel like there is no going back to windows laptops..... "It just works like you wanted it to"

Regardless of how many you exchange, the uneven tint issue is going to be there for 2016-2017 model.
The only way you can get a decent screen is 2015 model.

For some reason, no news sites are reporting this issue....
Seems like they purposely ignore this problem. You couldn't find it anywhere in front page, but the forums are exploding with all these threads.

With the uneven tint issue i can live with. To me, backlight bleeding is worse.
Everytime you pop up 16:9 movie, the backlight bleed is screaming to you.... Personally, i didn't even notice the yellowish tint that my screen has/had. The Pink tint kinda, when you really search it.

But never the less. It's absurd that product that costs as much as an used car, has these kinds of issues. But what you conna do? These are made for professional use and LCD can be more color accurate than OLED. (OLED has other issues too)

But there's no coming back now. Mac is sooooo much better than Windows in every way... I am willing to spend so much for this laptop, just so that i can actually enjoy using my computer.

Mine is A033 and it's yellowish on the left and bottom left sides and a little dark on the right border. Looks a little pink on the right side, and I would say the overall colour temperature is quite warm/yellow. Considering returning it but a bit worried the next one might be worse (this one has no backlight bleed or significant banding at least). Are there any legitimately good screens out there? Are the A034s pretty perfect or is that a myth too?

Do you think it's worth returning it?

First is OOC, second is with full saturation & contrast

If it bothers you I would try exchanging it for another one. I ended up finding an A033 screen that was an improvement, even if it’s still not 100%. All of the other ones I had looked very yellowish overall on top of having spots that were either darker and pink or even more yellow. The one I have now I can live with at least.

Same. I'm usually very sensitive to this kind of stuff to the point where I would notice just browsing the web without specifically looking at an all white image.

But just so you guys all feel better, check out what Sony dropped off:
