No self respecting working photographer would ever use an iPhone instead of a DSLR. Only as an emergency back-up should something of great news value happen when they are without their cameras would a pro consider using a smartphone to shoot a picture for work. The camera is one of the areas Apple can keep improving on to justify some people to upgrade. The iphone has long ago replaced point & shoot cameras, but alot of photographers are even using it as their main camera now. As absurd as it sounds, the iphone has replaced the dslr for some. Or at least become a backup camera. So it makes sense for Apple to keep pushing the cameras capabilities. Still lots of room for improvement. Especially in low light.
At least one of this year's iPhone models is rumored to include a triple-lens rear camera, although early rumors are split on just what the third lens would be used for.
Some sources have indicated Apple is working on "time-of-flight" depth sensing for higher-quality augmented reality experiences, but reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is skeptical
if you put a case on (like almost everyone) then there is no camera bump
Do people really don’t care about the aesthetics and haptics of their phone? Somebody should tell Jony Ive, he could save Apple so much money by designing cheap plastic phones instead of using glass and aluminium/stainless steel to give the iPhones a premium look and feel. Why? 99.9% of the planet uses a case, and it sits flush with the back of a case.
Apple would never do something so ridiculous as this.

And Apple fans still call Huawei a copycatApple is failing in China, and Huawei is killing it in China. And as the saying goes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Where the camera is imo is correct. When you hold the phone landscape like you should be for most photos or video that isn't a portrait, a centre camera will possibly be covered by a finger. My personal favourite is the sony implementation with a 2 stage shutter button on the chassis as sometimes when trying to keep perfectly still I miss or don't press the on screen button hard enough. As an aside, have you wondered why Apple's cameras are offset from the middle of the phone? I have android phones that have the camera in the middle of the phone, and it seems that the phone is a tad more difficult to hold if the camera is in the middle. Has anyone seen any writing on this? Apple is generally pretty good about symmetry, and it's surprising that nobody has noticed the blatant symmetry break of the camera.
One day, Joni may find out that enlarging the bump to the extreme means the whole iPhone could have been 0,5 mm thickerHorrible design.
The cameras are already good enough just make the phone a better over all value. Increase the thickness of the phone slightly to get rid of the wobbly bump and improve battery capacity. Sell it for $150 less than this years.
