2020 Macbook Air order status

Hey guys,
Woke up to another update from our favourite fruit company.
My order has shipped.
i5/16/256
Ordered - 31/4
Processing went on until I spoke to Apple CS on 8/4
Card Charged/ Preparing to ship 9/4
Shipped 10/4
Apple Store estimate arrival - 22-28/4
UPS - by end of day Wednesday 15th.
I have no idea how they expect to work that kind of magic to Ireland. Also, what interests me is there’s no sign of tracking through DHL like others in Ireland that I have read about.
I won’t set my hopes too high, although it’s hard not to with the idea of my upgrade getting in possibly a week early!?
[edit] I just checked the shipping method and it’s on World Express Saver and that is 1 - 3 Business Days. Still, I’ll be impressed if they pull it off still in the current situation.

Upgrading from a MBP 2009 13” that has been a solid workhorse, but I need something lighter and the retina screen will be much easier on the eyes. For basic productivity, photos, Internets, and some Logic Pro (Hoping the i7 can handle it, otherwise it’ll go back and I’ll wait for the 2020 MBP 13”.)

I’m hoping that it’ll arrive soon after it ships. With all that is happening in these strange times it’s not really a big deal, but it would be nice if Apple could provide more info.

This is getting ridiculous waiting for my March 19 mba i5/256/8gb. Even my high demand iMac late 2012 model shipped faster

A bummer that you aren’t seeing movement on it. I would bet that it’s been pushed to next week’s shipment. If I had to make a guess, it would be that you’ll get notified Sunday that it has shipped, and it will get on a Monday or Tuesday flight over, with delivery by Thursday or Friday next week.
I defo think it's worth giving them a call to see if they can get any move on it for you or give you some view as to why it's delayed.
Maybe. I’m not working today for the holiday so I could spend some time on it. I wonder if it’s a color thing. I’d take another color if necessary.

So I just called. They answered right away and I talked to a lovely lady. She said the new ones were on a bit of back order but that she still thinks it will arrive by the 14th. Dunno how that’s possible but I’ve seen Apple get things to my doorstep within days before so you never know.

It's a painless call to make, I have never 12 years of using Apple products called them for and have to say it was a great experience.. VERY friendly and helpful, none of the usual rushing the customer off the phone to get to the next call like so many companies do. I visit a bunch of forums and honestly, I can't really see a commonality.. first I thought it was custom builds, taking longer.. when I spoke to Apple, they said there's a queue system and build as ordered (which I think is more likely refering to custom builds..). but there is 100% in consistency in terms of orders going in and coming out.. the only thing I was thinking is possibly down to which factory your order is sent to? Maybe some factories have a higher output capacity, particularly with all that's going on in the world. Again, total guess..

Nope. But the lovely Apple representative said the card was already approved And everything is ready to go. So I don’t know what that means. Maybe my card doesn’t show pending charges.

I got an email around 6:30 am saying it had departed China at 11am there time, so 4am GMT, then a text from Apple at around 7am saying it had shipped. It’s going UPS, I have noticed a lot of the European deliveries are DHL, so not sure why mine is with UPS.
My order hasn’t even moved to “Preparing to Ship” yet, I’ve just noticed the card charge.
With all the effects of COVID going on, I should probably be more patient - but I’m upgrading from a mid-2009 MBP, so it’s going to be like all my Christmases have come at once and I want it like, yesterday! 😂
Update: my card was JUST charged. Green bar finally changed to preparing to ship.

Ordered March 21rst. It's suppkse to get delivered by Monday. Sometime it says Wenesday.
If I get it Weensday, it will have take 25 days to receive the damn thing. If I hear that the next Macbook Pro is released the same day, I'm gonna be really mad.

I’d say it’ll change shortly. The Apple lads say there’s updates constantly. Not just 9-5. That’s gonna be some upgrade
Ahhh! I was glad to see UPS after the delays I saw around with DHL!
Tracking mine like a madman! Currently 'In Transit' showing Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong.
Hoping there's no restrictions to imports!
