I wonder if they'll refresh the specs on the 24" cinema display. Or, at least, the magsafe so it matches the new 2010 version.

I've been considering a cinema display to go with my new MacBook Pro, but I've been holding off because of the rumors about the new 27" model. Plus, spending $900 on a two-year-old 24" panel didn't seem very wise.

With the Mac Mini adding HDMI, I'd think new panels would too...

Hmm well it sounds like if it's a speed bump for iMacs that we probably aren't getting USB 3 yet?

iMac is easy. Nothing ground breaking, 320M IGPs and Core 2 duo on the low-end, Core i5 and Core i7 on the high-end with some kind of dedicated graphics.

Hard drive and RAM bumps to match the Mini/MBPs and probably an international price bump.

Apple seriously needs to lower the prices on it's displays..

20Inch $199
24Inch $299
27Inch $499

Seems good to me...

Too bad it will never happen :(

It will never happen because I doubt Apple would use TN panels for their stand-alone displays. Compare H-IPS and S-IPS monitor prices at least to get a realistic view of what they should be charging.

Comparing TN panels to Apple's monitors is downright ludicrous.

Will the new cinema displays have like 4 cables coming out of it too? Power, MagSafe, DisplayPort and USB for webcam and audio? Because that's a bit awkward considering that Apple is all about simplicity, what will Mac Pro and Mac Mini users do with the MagSafe cable? Will it just dangle there? And why not use Bluetooth to connect audio and the webcam for laptops?

I don't like the design of the new cinema displays, why is the bezel so huge? What's with Apple and super-thick bezels? The Unibody MacBook Pros, the iPad, the new Cinema Displays... they all have huge black bezels, while the old MacBook Pros and Cinema Displays had thin aluminum bezels... It just looks a bit cheap on such expensive and "elite" products!

No doesn't mean that. Gruber purposely avoids revealing too much information. He may leak a bit more information later if you are lucky. Just the little bits that interest him, and what Apple will allow him to report. ;)

I'm just wondering if they will still have the yellow tint that is plaguing the current iMacs in production.

Pro screen?

I've had my trusty 23" matt cinema display for so many years now - it remains one of my favourite items in my studio. I cannot really imagine Apple releasing a matt screen for some reason. If they do or offer it as an option I'll be blown away.

New iMacs during the back to school promotion would seem to be unusual. But maybe they figure most students get laptops these days.

Not really. The Back to School Promotion is a great way to get rid of the iPod stock before the September upgrade...not just sell iMacs. Remember, a high end iMac or Mac Pro probably isn't your typical back to school computer anyway. It is the MacBook Pros and low end iMacs that sell in droves to students...at least average students.

Sometimes it's MacTruths
Sometimes it's MacRumors

This is decidedly in the MacRumors category and the crossing the line is highly improbable. Let's wait and see. I suspect the date of release will be just a tad later than tomorrow, but that's just a rumor too.

Want 21.5" that.....

They neeeeeeeeeeed to release a 21.5" with core i5 and at lease a ATI 5770. I want to play SC at 1080p native res highest settings. Make this happen Apple, or you will not get my money!

Gruber never leaks information like this as a guess. He is too well connected, and that's probably his reward for being the Paul Thurrott of the Mac community. I can say with absolute confidence those who have been waiting for new iMacs and Mac Pros to have their credit cards ready tomorrow morning. This refresh will be happening.

The important question is what is his track record for "leaking" information ahead of a release?

I am new to the Mac Community as I just bought my first Mac in June - so I haven't heard of this guy. I have been waiting to get an iMac for when they release the new ones...and I hope it is tomorrow.

For instance, Dell's cheaper TN-based LCD display (e.g., ST2410) costs $340 less than IPS-based counterpart (UltraSharp U2410). U2410 is still cheaper than Apple's by $300 or so, which is not insignificant, but let's not forget that Apple's Cinema Display has LED backlighting, webcam, MacBook Pro docking cable, and decent set of speakers.

I hope they refresh the 24" and remove the webcam, speakers and add DVI and HDMI.

My 23" ACD is doing quite fine as well. If they do release these, maybe I will finally upgrade to the 30". I don't see myself getting a screen that possibly lacks firewire, has no matte option and has extra cords dangling out of the back for a laptop to connect to.

I know it is still a "rumor" but come one, if you are going to hook up your laptop to a monitor, grab your power supply. Heck, my MBP is hooked up to my ACD all the time. I'm so glad they didn't do that in the past.

Oh, and firewire...I use that nearly everyday. I almost upgraded to that new display but it is inferior to what I have in front of me because of those reasons.

Apple, please please us!

True, but Dell also makes a 21.5" 1080p IPS display (U2211H) that runs from $250-$300. It also has displayport, dvi, and vga inputs (including component signal compatibility!). Not LED, though it *is* matte, and depending on one's needs it could prove quite a bit more useful than a built-in display or ACD.
