Ugh this looks like a hassle. Think I am going to just wait for 4.3 JB assuming it comes out relatively soon after 4.3 is released. If not it will give them more time to work out the bugs.

Finally got it working thanks to the website at the bottom of this post. I tried several different methods, but the key for me was not having iTunes open. I closed it and the next try worked.

Sudo Open Greenpois0n

* Run Terminal on Mac
* Type ‘sudo open ’ and then drag the greenpois0n.app on Terminal. Then press Enter/Return. Note: type sudo open without quotes and give a space after open.
* Greenpois0n will open, now try the jailbreak.

Note: Make sure iTunes is NOT running while you’re running Greenpois0n.

I've tried that, didn't work. GP won't run, it crashes every time. Have tried multiple download links and tried rebooting computer. iTunes isn't running. Just a ******, ****** jailbreak and I'm over it. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for some cool 4.3 and up features. #teamnonjailbreak

For all those of you who didn't get it working, yet

This is what worked for me (iphone 4, 4.2.1):

0. close itunes
1. open Terminal.app
2. put device into dfu mode (hold sleep 3s then sleep+home 10s then home 10s)
4. RELEASE home
5. sudo /path/to/greenpois0n.app/Contents/MacOS/greenpois0n
6. press the button and wait :)

all the other things didn't work out, but this did it.

good luck

Thought I would share my experience.

I had to
1. Restore through iTunes
2. Run Greenpois0n through terminal (show package contents, then run)
3. put into DFU (continuing to hold home button)
4. rapidly press sleep on white screen

After a few attempts, this is the one that worked!

I 'm ok now... I changed with another usb port and its work fine. :D

Success!

Same for me... Although it took me forever to get there. Basically long and short. Updated itunes. Backed up my Phone. Restored to 4.2.1. Had a 1013 error which is another story entirely. Used another cpu to get 4.2.1. Then started the green poison process. (started this around 11:30. with taking breaks when frustrated and the back up/restore process i just finished) Anyway, I tried installing just running the program. That didnt work. What eventually did was running through terminal. Put into DFU. Then it hung on the normal spot. So i just kept restarting green poison in terminal and going through the process again and again (all the while holding down home (except for when the white screen came on I rapidly tapped both home and sleep. First just tried sleep, then home and sleep cause I was getting pretty annoyed at this point.) Kept watching terminal, it would go through more and more it seemed so I did this process until i started getting code. One time all the code ran, got the animated skull/ apple. Thought all was well... that is until the connect to itunes screen happened again. So I just kept going (tried again in terminal) and finally it pushed through. Ran loader 3 times and finally it found cydia. Its now downloading. (24%).

Woo Hoo! Hope this helps someone!

Finally this worked for me

1) /etc/hosts/ # out the apple entry
2) Close Itunes
3) Ran GP as sudo from terminal
4) when it turned white the screen during dfu I pushed the sleep button (home button stays pressed continously)
5) Release sleep button when you see GP initialized
6) Keep home held you should see **** happen

Well, I have tried every single method mention here, and on other forums, no matter what I try, hold home, let it go, sleep on white screen, using terminal, no terminal, sudo and whatever, I have no luck with my Wi-Fi iPad :confused::confused::eek::eek::eek:, my 3G worked fine on the first try... I guess I will wait a bit longer before I try to do this to my iPhone 4's... :(

after reading this thread and http://www.jailbreakqa.com/ I am not leaving my perfect 4.1 environment any time soon...

As much as appreciate Chronic's hard work I wish Musclenerd would assist these guys with QA-testing...

So I got the jailbreak to work last night. Started downloading Curia and then somehow when I got to about 90% it lost the internet connection. Got so frustrated and turned in for the night. This morning I keep launching the loader and it comes up blank, no Curia store. Anybody have any ideas for me? Thanks

That has been answered many times on this thread... Used Redsn0w to install cydia...

So i was previously JB with tethered boot. I kept getting stuck on gp initialized. Tried the above but also rapidly started hitting sleep button just before white screen disappeared. Got same GP initialized error but still kept hitting sleep rapidly. Within 5 secs more boot code came on the screen and then it ran properly. Stopped hitting sleep as soon as boot code came on screen.

OMG, they need to put another update out because I've tried ****ing everything! Ive tried fresh install!, I have tried tether jailbreak before using it, I have tried restoring from backup and then running it. I keep getting the damn gp is initialized!!!! I'm about to ****ing explode!!!!!!
