I envy people who are only having problems with GP lol
Has anyone successfully upgraded to 4.2.1 while preserving their 1.59.00 baseband? More specifically has anyone with an iPhone 4 got iTunes to restore to 4.2.1 while using the TSS server in TinyU?? I keep getting the frakin 1604 error
**Solution** So the problem was with the TSS server. You need to make sure to hit "save ssh" in TinyUmbrella so that it saves the blobs for 4.2.1 4.3b.....and so on. IDK how it saves blobs for 4.2.1 if I'm not on it yet but it makes sense that you need to have them to trick iTunes.

Since you caused your own problem, you should solve it. How are people on MR supposed to know what level of libcurl-4-dylib is on your system?
The arrogance of some people is truly disgusting.Hmmm. Wonder if anyone can shed any light on my experience? I recently installed redsn0w 0.9.6b4 tethered on my 4.2.1 iPhone 4. All worked fine and tethered wasn't too much of a hassle.
I've tried to install GreenPois0n over redsn0w and seem to be hitting a wall. I go through the JB process and everything seems to work OK, I get to the animated skull and the phone reboots. However, on reboot I get the Connect To iTunes message. I can still boot tethered using redsn0w but when I respring I see the skull logo.
Any suggestions? Would it be best for me to start afresh, restore to 4.2.1 and then try to JB using GP?

Loaded GreenPois0n and then got Cydia on there through RedSn0w...easy as pie.

Have you read any of the posts in this thread? Did you search this thread for the word 'windows'? Try it and see what you find. That's your guidance.

Here's the thing about that. notcom aka semaphore has changed his instructions on how to do this. Before you had to UPDATE (not restore) to avoid the baseband signature check and get error 1013 so that you could get to 4.2.1 with 01.59.00. That method is more than a month old. Now he's promoting this restore method. Unknown if Tiny has found a way to get around this signature check in restore. Before starting the TSS server caused error 21 so you couldn't restore.
And if you'd read the FAQ on the Tiny site you'd see you don't have to be on the currently available firmware to get the shsh for it. Geeze I wish people would read FAQs.

Here's a question for everyone....Since I'm on Windows I went into FutureShop yesterday and used GP on a display MAC. With RC5 it continually failed. Once I found out RC5-2 was out I went back and tried again. The second time it seemed to work although Cydia wasn't showing up in Loader.
My concern is this...I know people have been just running RedSn0w over top of GP and then Cydia appears, but to me that doesn't seem right as in it feels like (could just be my OCD) it could create some unknown problems for the future.
Am I being silly or is there truly nothing wrong with running two JB over top of each other to achieve one desired outcome...that being Cydia appears in Loader??
Please advise. If the consensus is it won't and nothing will happen I'll then do another fresh restore and go back to FutureShop and try it again and then come home and run Redsn0w over top of GP....but if most agree with me I might just wait for the Windows version to come out.
Another question, if it's totally okay to use two JB's...does it matter which one is put on first after the clean restore? Should I use RS then GP or vice versa??

I think Mike is right on with his comment.
As far as your problem, MuscleNerd has even stated that it is perfectly fine to run the redsn0w jailbreak/cydia install over the greenpois0n jailbreak as they don't interfere with each other.

If so I am guessing I will need a custom IPSW due to the fact I have the Ipda BB.
In short what is the best route to get me up to 4.2.1?
In all honesty I wish I never updated the BB as it is such a pain in the a$$ when updating.

The only way you will get to 4.2.1 with that wonky ipad baseband is to make a custom 4.2.1 restore file with pwnagetool. DFU mode then restore with that file.
Your question has been asked before in this thread, the answer is that redsnow and green poison do not affect each other at all. You are only using redsnow to install Cydia, nothing else.
