Laggy and unusable? I would love to see a video of this. I often hear people complain about lag on devices I own, like the 6 plus, and I think "are they using the same device I am?" I'm not saying you aren't having an issue, but I would like to see this for myself. My 6S is super fast and responsive. No lag anywhere. And it restored from a backup.

Yeah it's nothing like unusable. Once the device is awake and running it's super-fast and runs like a dream. But it's pretty ugly seeing that unlock lag on such a new device.

I think the general consensus is that phones are indexing and take a few hours to do so hence the lag.
I was lucky as I didn't have that problem but if it's sorted now then great. Have to say that the 6s plus is lightening fast

I'm thinking it may depend on the app you leave running before your device goes to sleep. There's a third-party one I've been using a lot and that appears to trigger the problem. I'm testing some of Apple's own apps right now and so far the lag appears to go away when it's one of those I leave running when the device sleeps.

So I am still having minor pauses when I unlock. It's the same as before. Not too annoying but it's enough to be. Lol. I'll wait it out and see if a software fix does it or maybe I need to do a restore. Wipe the phone, restore from 9.0.1 and the restore my backup. I did a restore and then update to 9.0.1 after I got my phone. Who knows.
I did the factory reset and no change. Thinking its software but I'm still going into the Apple Store by my work today to see what they say. I feel like a phone with this fast of processor shouldn't have this issue, you know?

Mine as well has seem to subsided as well. For a short time there I was thinking I may of had to go back to my 6 plus. The phone is back to normal now (knock on wood).

I've always noticed this stuttery behavior during the first 24 hours with a phone since everything shifted cloud-heavy and the phone has to index not just what's local on the phone but reload everything cloud-size (including my 9000+ song music library and my 30GB photo library, as well as documents in the clouds, etc.). If 2-3 days out this is still happening, I'd consider it an issue, but this was behavior I saw last year as well.

Turning off Siri spotlight suggestions worked for me. No more lag. I have the 128gb s+ on 9.01. Tried turning spotlight suggestions back on and the lag came back...

I honestly think it can be an issue with the phone still restoring, just being used, probably being played with more often than it needs to, and just some hiccups being worked out with a new device being started up for the first day or so.

I also hope it straightens it self out with a few more days worth of use.

I'm with you on that. I noticed it yesterday but it is completely gone today.

Leaving Mail or Safari running doesn't bring the lag. In my case, at least I think it's poorly written third-party apps or apps not yet optimised for the latest versions of iOS and our new devices.

This is an interesting thread. I left the 6 plus and dropped down to the 6s due to the lag issues I was having (it was so bad I turned off animations and transparency just to be able to move smoothly through apps). I had buyers remorse thinking that MAYBE the A9 would make the lag that I was seeing go away, but apparently that isn't the case. Hopefully it is just a software issue and after a hard reset or the release of 9.1 the issues people are seeing clear up.

I haven't seen any lag on the 6s. It's movin pretty smooth other than during the initial set up and app upload process (set up as new).

128 GB 6S, I have the unlock lag, I noticed it last night when I set it up from a restore and it's still there today. Most noticeably when unlocked after at least a few minutes of being locked, takes 2-4 seconds for the screen to respond to inputs. Very annoying. I had iOS9 running on my 6 with no issues.
