I'm having a lag problem on unlock too (64gb 6s Plus). It actually pauses as the icons are dropping down to the screen with the zoom animation, for a second or two I have giant icons showing as it freezes when they're coming in. Then they land and all good.

Concerning thing is, this is my 2nd phone. The first had a problem with the earpiece sounding blown or something so I got a new one. I had no lag at all on the first one and I'm only noticing it on this one after restoring from backup, makes me worry that this is a hardware problem. Haven't tried setting up as new yet...

set it up as new. :)

I set up as new and I have the same damn lag when I unlock. So I don't think it is a setup from backup or new issue. I hope they release an update sooner than later to address this.

I can guarantee your backup from via iTunes is causing this issue. set it up as new.
What on earth are you talking about. There is no possible way you can guarantee any individuals issue is simply caused by iTunes.
You keep on spouting people not to do a restore but only set up as New.
That is only your own opinion and if you wish to do it fair enough but don't go scaremongering other members into believing iTunes is the cause of their problem.

Not only that but if you have any data that is not covered in iCloud or other in app cloud storage a new set up will not be a choice. To name but one is the Health app with all your stored data.
If you wish to retain all your months of daily health charts the only option is to do an iTunes backup making sure you tick the box marked 'Encrypted' backup.

I just got the 6S+ 128 GB Rose Gold. I had the same freeze after unlock issue as all of you. I believe I've found the solution. I'm willing to bet you all have Live wallpapers on.. right? I did.. that is a new feature to the 6S and 6S+.. I tried switching my wallpaper out for a static image, and now there is no freeze! Not only that, the top status bar lag is also gone..

Give it a try and see if it helps!!

Andrew

I've had my 6s+ 128GB since launch running fine. Wednesday 9/30 I had problems all day that cleared up yesterday. Then I saw that iOS 9.02 was out last night and updated. I got the pause/freeze/lag after I updated last night. This morning it's fine again. I'm sure it's a software issue. Just an FYI. For those not affected, you're fortunate.

After reading this thread I've been searching constantly for bugs yet I don't have any. Well, since iOS 7, handoff had never worked so u guess that's the only issue I have lol. Still haven't found a solution

Found a solution.

Please re select your wallpapers and set them as 'still', instead of perspective.

The only issue I'm having is overheating. It seems to be a little better after 9.0.2, but the phone still gets hot. Last night, I ran a few Geekbench tests while the phone was hot and witnessed clock speeds being limited little by little, all the way down to about 50%. The other day, I received a temperature warning. Before that, brightness would be limited when the phone got too hot.

I'm waiting for a replacement via the Genius Bar, but I'm sort of reluctant to take it. It's been confirmed to be a hardware issue, so I should but don't want to end up with something worse.

Yeah the replacement they were offering me had a dead pixel right away. I saw it before I even left the Apple store. Thankfully she just handed mine back as they didn't have anymore "Service units" to give me. So that's when I decided I'd troubleshoot mine. So far, I haven't had any lag/freezing for over 24 hours. I have a lot of stuff disabled but I'm re-enabling them one at a time. So far, no change, still is working great.

I'm thinking in my case, it's syncing with my iCloud or my emails, something. That freezing only happens for the first 8-24 hours when I either first set it up or update the OS.

Hey how did you know I always install Windows on my SSD as new. I always zero out the drive before hand and install fresh and new.

Then POW, restore backed up software, notice I did not mention drivers and utilities and updates. Those you want to find the specific ones that run the best with your hardware/software and system setup...

Oh wait forgot for a second we were talking about Apple and they say for a device to work right, set it up as NEW and do not restore previous backups from older IOS...

Dam!

;) ;)

Yeah, why don't just wipe your hard drive whenever you encounter an issue on your computer.

Not a solution.

Wth! My phone stopped freezing and stuttering!!! Call it magic. I have an iPhone 6s 128 gb and did absolutely nothing to fix the issues. Even on geek benchmark I am getting 4433 and above for 2 core. I think I have the tcsm chip too.

I had the same issue with serious lag on my 128GB 6S Plus. iOS 9 that came installed and even the next update were horrible. I signed up for the 9.1 public beta and now my phone is smooth as can be. It's definitely not hardware related so stop trying to return phones. The software is buggy. iOS 9.1 beta 3 is the fix. Do it and you will be happy!!!

How come my 6S+ was fine out of the box on 9.0 then?

No idea. My phone was almost unusable out of the box. 9.1 is smooth as can be. Update!!! You will be happy with the results.

I had trouble with my 6+ the whole time I had it but the 6S+ is a different beast entirely, even on 9.0
If 9.1 makes it even better then great. I'm just not sure why folk are experiencing problems on 9.0, 9.01 and 9.02

Im on 9.1 and the phone is buggy and my call quality sucks and iMessage hangs up and sometimes won't even send my message! I've never had issues like this with an iPhone.
