UPDATE:
After all night not touching my phone when I turned it on there was a lag again, however it was not the same as it was on my previous phone. It was less than a second long, not 1-2 seconds. Siri suggestion is off. I'm gonna try to turn on this feature and see whats happening. On my wife's 6S+ I never ever could reproduce the delay, and all features is on on her device....
Turn off Touch ID and see what happens

My 6s has occasionally frozen, did a restore from iTunes as new phone last week it didn't seem to help. I wasn't going to panic until today, when I went to wake my phone and it didn't respond. I tried pressing the home button and power for a hard reset and still nothing. I set it down and then pressed the power button by itself, but nothing finally I pressed the power button again and it was over a minute before anything happens. Called Apple and she didn't help. She told me to make an appointment and they would probably just replace it or they could just send me a replacement. If it is software, why would they suggest a replacement?

Because A. That's what most people prefer to hear, a Shiny new device will solve most customer problems. B. They can't properly diagnose things over the phone so they're telling you to go to the store to get it looked at, what's the best way to get you into the store? Tell you that they'll replace it if they can't fix it. C. As crowded as the Apple Store gets it's sometimes easier for them to just pull from their new but refurb stock in the store and just hand it to you than fixing yours. Especially in the first 2 weeks of release (and yes they have refurbs from stock that didn't pass the original QC testing and had to be rebuilt and rechecked)

Yeah but touch id is one of the best features of these phones...and the thing is that the lag is not when it registered the fingerprint, the lag comes when you are on the home screen, and pressing any icon would not open it, and in a moment all you pressed will pop up. So it actually registered what I'm doing, however didn't respond at that moment, and opened them later, if that makes any sense? I'll try to turn it off and see whats happening...

I have Touch ID switched off and never experience any lag. I'm not losing a feature because I had it switched off on my 6+ too, and would have switched it off on my 6S+ regardless of any lag. I do understand that some people love the feature though, so they shouldn't have to switch it off just to gain a lag-free experience. As an aside, I haven't had my phone auto-switch off or suffered from the scorching hot home button issue so the Touch ID system is definitely flawed in these phones. Hopefully it's just a software issue.

I've had my screen completely freeze and all buttons not respond. This has happened 10 times now on my 6s Plus. It always occurs randomly and its while I am using an app (not when opening or closing it). Today, I was using Google Maps and I pushed the "route" button to check the route I was taking. The screen just froze. I tried turning off the screen, pushing the home button and nothing worked. After about 3 minutes the screen went black (but was still backlight) and restarted itself.

So in the wake of Apple's announcement and given my iPhone 6s 128 gab with a Samsung chip and still freezes when unlocking the phone. What is the final verdict? Should I burn it and move on?

With 9.1 Beta 4, I haven't noticed the lag/stutter anymore. Also, the battery life is far better (but not sure if that can be attributed to the update or just the battery warming up to it's potential )

My device: 6S+

Also, the status bar doesn't lag anymore when unlocking the phone, unless that was the lag you were referring to.

My new 6s is experiencing the same lag like everyone else. Apps taking long to open, home button will not quit frozen apps, and randomly Touch ID will not unlock phone. This 6s was restored from an iTunes backup of my old 6. I'll see how it performs in the next couple days before I restore again. Setting up my phone as new is a PITA!

So it's been about a week now and I haven't noticed any of these symptoms anymore. I did not restore from back up or set up as new either. I guess the phone was just indexing. Whatever the reason this may be the case for your phone as well.

I have been offered a brand new replacement after reporting that my phone reboots randomly.

Should i accept it?

For those of you noticing the status bar delay, is it similar to the videos below?

- at about the 1:54 mark

- at about the 1:50 mark

- at about the 7:00 mark

-at about the 2:30 mark

I noticed in all theses videos that the status bar lag is consistent with what I experience from time to time on my phone. Is this similar to what you experience? If so, It definitely looks like the delay is not isolated to just a few people.

Yes, during that time the status bar is gone, phone is completely unresponsive. Might be the new Touch ID? I have the 6+ as well and I don't see it doing this. Don't they test these phones before selling them?

I had none of these issues with samsung chip. Now 2 of mine with tmsc chip have lag issues. I feel like its sw issue better wait for the update.

here is how to cure your lag problems when unlocking the phone...

go to settings/wallpaper/
when selecting your wallpaper for the home screen, choose still, not perspective
another option is to go into general settings/accessibility/reduce motion
youre welcome!

My wife has 6S+ with Samsung chip. Everything is on, live wallpaper, siri suggestions, etc...NO lag whatsoever! Zero. Couldn't get the lag on that phone at all. Mine is TMSC and it does have a lag again (was disappeared and appeared again). Could it be the chip? Hope not!

People with either chip have been complaining of that problem. That makes it far more likely to be software related.

FWIF I don't have a status bar lag. I have an unresponsiveness on home screen. Pressing on any icon would not work and in 1-2 seconds all what pressed opens up simultaneously...is it similar with you guys?

whatever the next update should fix this problem. Otherwise it's really annoying. I doubt this is a hardware issue.

I really hope so. This is so annoing to have the latest and fastest phone that sometimes acts slower than 4s!!!!
