Can everyone try this and see if it helps?

Turn off 3D Touch and see if the issue remains. I turned it off around 2 hours and noticed that the unlock completely disappeared. The status bar no longer disappears at all. I turned 3D Touch back on after a half hour, and the lag is still completely gone. I'm wondering if this really helps or if it's just a coincidence.

Didn't work for me. Too bad!

anyone else noticing their battery run times being worse? after updating to 9.1, I was busy all day at work yesterday, barely using my phone and it barely lasted till that evening. the previous days I was busy there at work, I used my phone a bit more and it lasted till after midnight. I just got done charging again, and it's far from my bedtime when I usually charge my phone.

I started experiencing a weird issue yesterday and today. I've had my 6S Plus 128GB since launch day. I've experienced a tiny bit of lag here and there but nothing that has been bothering me. I did set the phone up as new on launch day. Well yesterday (a day after installing 9.1 OTA) I unlocked my phone and tried to pull control center up but it wouldn't come. I then tried to swipe to another page and I couldn't. Everything was normal, the screen was literally just frozen. I clicked the power button and turned the screen back on. Once again, used Touch ID, phone unlocked, screen was frozen in place. I let it sit for a few minutes, didn't lock the phone I let it auto-lock and after about 5 minutes I tried again, nothing, still frozen. Held the power button but couldn't swipe to turn off when that screen came on. I was about to do a hard reset when all of a sudden the phone advanced to my second page of apps and everything was working. It was fine for the rest of the night.

Now today, I got home from work early in the morning, went to pull up control center from the home screen to see my front door lock and same problem. Wouldn't come up, I was able to unlock the phone with Touch ID, but the screen was frozen. Phone is working, as volume works, Touch ID works. I just can't use the screen at all for a few minutes and then all of a sudden it just starts working.

Any ideas?

I had this issue on my 5S couple of times when I installed iOS 9. It didn't happen on my 6S. I think iOS 9 is very buggy in general and iOS 9.1 is no different, because I see now not very smooth animations on my iPad Air 2 running ios9.1, also on 6S with unlock lag.

I'm on my third 6S+, and not for OCD reasons either.:D
The first had a faulty home button and the second had a dodgy screen but other than that they were spot-on. Well I'm experiencing the dreaded unlock lag and random screen freezing on this new one. The battery life is terrible too. I would say that if anyone has consistent lag or freezing on their 6S+ then it's a hardware fault because I've seen enough of them now to know that it shouldn't exist. Two out of three phones haven't exhibited this issue.

For the record it's the install of 9.0.2 the phone came with and I haven't loaded a backup. Touch ID is off, spotlight is off, reduce motion is on, all system location services are off, I'm using a static photo as a screensaver and background refresh is off. I'll try a clean install of 9.1 before I exchange it but there's no way I'm accepting 6 Plus-style lag and freezing. Damn Apple's QC! The screen is fine on this one but I seem to be swapping one problem for another all the time.

I have 6S. Unlock lag is here. Try playing some music. The unlock lag is not present while listening. My opinion is that that's software.

It's not software. I've had three now and two didn't exhibit any lag anywhere, ever. Not whilst 'indexing' and not once. This new one stutters and lags all the time.

Hmm that's weird. I saw many people on this thread who exchange couple of times and had the issue with all replacements. What can be the possible hardware fault? I can't imagine one.

Had a genius bar appointment today & 2 of them showed me the exact same thing on their 6S+'s. It is not officially recognised as an issue as of yet & they claimed it was definitely software. To be honest, I'm still unsure if it's a hardware or software issue as there have been multiple reports of people getting replacements that exhibit the exact same behaviour.

I'm expecting delivery of a replacement iPhone for a different issue tomorrow morning, so will see if that's any different.

Three phones for me, two had zero lag or freezing ever and one has it. Same user, same usage patterns, same software etc. There are many pieces of hardware in the phone and many variables. My other two phones didn't need to wait for a software update to fix problems they didn't have...

Please let us know!!

Absolutely. I'll report back after I get it tomorrow. My suspicions are that it is software as the apple employees showed me theirs that had the exact same unlock touchscreen responsive lag. Just to be clear, I'm only referring to this issue.

If you think battery life is worse, go into the settings to see what app is using all the battery.

Could everyone please report the size of their iPhone when mentioning lag or no lag.

I have had three as follows:

6s 128gb TSMC - unlock lag with about 1 sec
6s+ 128gb Samsung unlock lag anywhere from 2-5 seconds - returned to Apple
6s+ 128gb TSMC - unlock lag with about 1-3 sec - replacement for above. Waiting for indexing to finish to see if there are better results.

All phones were setup as new.

I beginning to think this is a bug with the software and 128gb models. All Three of mine have had the issue whether it was a 6s or 6s+. 64gb folks please let us know how your device is doing.

I have a habit of checking that anyway and comparing with my Sammy.

I don't really like how iOS does this part - I could have taken it off a complete charge a half hour ago and it still showing an app I used the previous charge since it shows apps used the last 24 hours rather than the last full charge. but nothing out of the usual - most used apps the past week were Waze to and from the office, and WhatsApp & WeChat with the gf.

6S+, 64gb, Samsung chip

No noteworthy lag of any kind ever. The occasional, extremely brief stutter or hiccup, exhibited on every phone I have ever used (plenty of them), but no freezing or crashing or dreaded lag of any kind.
