The difference reducing transparency makes is huge! I'm really surprised there's no fix for this yet. I love the smoothness compared to before but as someone said earlier, the motion is what makes iOS, iOS.

Yes it is huge. Perhaps the GPU isn't up to the job of powering the 5.5" HD display, UI animations and transparency at the same time. I can't see how it's a coding issue.

I like Erica Griffin's youtube videos, they're quite comprehensive and no fluff.

That said, the 6s Plus 'lag' doesn't bother me. Lack of tabs reloading is such a win!

The phone is super smooth in general too, I'd say I'm quite happy with performance.

Maybe I'm an optimist in this regard, but anyone who came from 6 Plus should be at least somewhat happy

Exactly. Those of us who've come from the 6+ are finding the 6S+ to be a revelation, a veritable speed demon. Yet those coming from the iPhone 5/5S or people who also have access to a 6S for comparison purposes are complaining of lag. The Plus models do suffer here & there when compared to their smaller chums but the 6S+ suffers to a perfectly tolerable degree, whereas the 6+ was a complete dog.

Yet it can play intensive games with transparency, alpha, particles etc.. Without issue.. So the gpu is more than capable of running the gui. It's a bug, why try and turn a molehill into a mountain?

Apple needs to integrate Metal into their UI animations :) . Yeah it is strange that Apple can't get good frame rates, but games can.

I'm not bothered about the UI frame rate 'lag' in the slightest, as I've stated before. I can see that it exists though and have merely offered a hypothesis. The 6+ could play games too and that was a lagging/freezing/crashing POS, so was that just a coding issue?

Your experience of the 6+ is not universal. I never had any of those issues

The only reason I posted the video on here was to see if this is a consistent problem with all the 6s plus models. This is my first experience with the plus model, so I am not aware of the problems that plagued the 6 plus. Forums can be misleading at times. You have people on here saying that there device runs smooth as silk and a few people complaining about some lag. Before this video was posted I assumed my issue (status bar lag and ui frame drops) were one of few and that I may have a faulty device. But now that the video has been posted and people are saying they have theses issues (status bar lag and ui frame drops), I now know that my problem is not isolated and that these issues are fairly consistent throughout. With that being said I can stop worrying that I have a faulty device and hope they issue a patch.

Installed on 6S Plus and still have the usual status bar and Touch ID lag.
Yes, me too. I just turn on the phone with the power button and then I use Touch ID. I realized it would have gone crazy waiting for Apple to fix it, so I just live with it. I don't even notice anymore when I turn it on with the power button instead of the home button.

I keep saying this. If you experience lag for more than 3 days or week. I would return the device. The lag on my 128g plus disappeared after couple days completely. All options on except wifi assist and background app refresh. 4 finger prints registered. Replace it and get a good night sleep. My first 64g plus had none of these issue out of the box.

My 6s Plus is running without any lags after this update. I used to have dropped frames in the app switcher, it's smooth. It's running like it's supposed be, a brand new phone.

Your iPhone had unlock lag before?
If you mean the disappearing of the status bar, yes I still have that, I just don't use Touch ID to wake up the phone. I use the power button and then Touch ID, I don't see it disappearing this way and no lag.
