Do you think the Touch ID/wakeup lag issue is something to do with the Samsung chip in handsets?
Anyone with the TSMC chip able to verify they had the same issue??

I have the problem and have the Samsung chip. Its getting annoying for me as Im used to waking the handset and going straight for the phone app, or the app Im after, without having to tap the icon and then remember i need to wait for the freezing to subside!

Tempted to return the phone and try another in order to hope of the best! It can't be ALL iPhone 6Plus handsets can it?? Otherwise surely we would have had it in the news by now!!!

TSMC here, iPhone 6s Plus 128GB, I have the issue. I just wake up the phone with the power button, not Touch ID, don't see any lag.

TSMC here (6s+ 128GB), I have the issue too.

6s 128 gb TSMC has -lag
6s plus 128 gb Samsung -lag
6s plus 128 gb TSMC -lag
6s plus 64 gb Samsung -lag

I really don't see this being a hardware issue. You'll only be rolling the dice for nothing.

I had this issue on a Samsung 128gb 6s. Disabling Siri suggestions and spotlight search resolved it

Just got another replacement, my fourth, and out of the box it has zero lag. So out of four 6S+, one had lag. I would say quite categorically that it's a hardware fault.

Good luck with this one!

What did you tell them for the reason to swap? Poor battery life?

Also what version did it come with?

Boo! We need a bigger sample size, go get another replacement. But really, when the phone doesn't respond for 2-4 seconds after unlocking, it is a problem. And this is after more than a week. Never happened on my previous iPhones.

Reduce motion only eliminates the status bar animation delay, nothing else. If I have enough patience I'll give 9.2 a chance.

I told them about the lag and poor battery life.
This one is a Samsung too...
The screen has the binding thing at the top, and the pressure point at the bottom left. Not as good as my last screen by any means, although it isn't yellow and doesn't have poor backlighting. Nice tight buttons! :D
Bah, it's such a lottery. I was hoping for a perfect screen, TSMC chip, tight buttons and great battery life. I'll see how the battery goes and if it's ok then I'll probably end up keeping this one. I'm not seeking perfection across the board, I just have a few boxes that definitely need ticking. I'm not too fussed about the chip either, but would choose TSMC if given the choice.

I've had three 6s Plus so far, and I want to say all of them lag for a day and then don't.

Maybe it's the initial Spotlight indexing, or something. I'm not at all worried about it since it went away in all instances.

I have great battery, TSMC, a decent enough screen, and could be tighter but relatively tight buttons.

I'll call it quits

Identical payload and identical configuration are two entirely different things.
Software issues can arise under particular use cases without necessarily affecting everyone.

If a phone lags out of the box before loading anything onto it, then that's a hardware issue in my book based on 3/4 phones that didn't do this.

Everyone experiencing this issue has at the very least signed into the device with their Apple ID and activated icloud. From that point onward experiences diverge based on what each user's device needs to download and index.
If this were a hardware issue then nobody affected would have found a resolution without replacement. Some have.

It just seems weird that three out of four of my devices haven't exhibited this problem. I don't understand what was different with the one that did, it had the exact-same unboxing and whatnot.

To truly get to the bottom of it, we'd need to have a device with the issue and one without the issue, both set up in the same manner - and instrument them with xcode to see what's happening under the hood.
Exactly the kind of thing we pay top dollar to apple to avoid, sadly! :-(

I've been ok ever since I disabled siri suggestions and spotlight search. That hasn't worked for everyone though.

The 128GB Sim Free 6S Plus that I got 2 days ago has been perfect right out of the box. It has a nice screen, great battery life, and no lagging or freezing up so far.

Not so far. Is this something that others are seeing right out of the box, or is it an issue over time with the newer iPhone models?

Out of the box, chiefly when unlocking the phone with the home button/TouchID.
I don't have the issue now, my last phone had it and some report it going away within a couple of days. Others seem to be lumbered with it.

I experienced the issue out of the box and without signing in with my Apple ID and activating iCloud. 6S 128GB TSMC. The issue persists on my device regardless of whether it's setup as new or restored from backup. This includes iOS 9.0.1, 9.0.2, and 9.1.
