Personally I'm pretty satisfied with mine. My imagination wants to tell me the whole upper left corner is yellow. Even if it is I literally just got off the Air 2 train, and I don't feel like doing it again. Hopefully Apple expands OLED usage to phones and tablets with the next generation. It'll be great to buy the 7S and not worry about this stuff anymore.
Your screen looks ok.
Hate playing the Apple Screen lottery game happened to me last year iPhone 6 took me 6 exchanges due to dead/stuck pixels and yellow screen with dust under screen too.
(Wasted over one month doing it.)

iPad Air 2 took me 5 exchanges too with the same problems.
The quicker Apple uses OLED I will be happy.

I was actually amazed how much more yellow the 6 looked than the 6s my wife got. All three of our phones (6s plus and two 6s) look very white in comparison. I'm sure there is going to be variance. Either way, the yellow in the previous handset didn't go noticed until comparing these phones side by said anyway.

So are you looking to swap or are you keeping the one you have? I feel like my problem is so minor that I'm more likely to get a phone that's worse than the one I have, especially seeing history with the 6.
I had dust in the camera of my last phone, so they were going to replace it. I received the one I had pictured.

Little concerned here guys, I've taken a quick photo of my screen and noticed it's very yellow compared to my Macbook and iPhone 4 screen. Considering the price I'm not exactly thrilled to see the screen like this.

I love the device but I'm wondering whether to go to my local Apple store and ask about what can be done. What's the verdict from you guys?

iPhone 4 - Macbook Pro background - iPhone 6S on the right

I would not keep that phone, I had one a few years ago like that effected look of photos, and at least on mine made the contrast much worse.

But a word to the wise, returning and waiting a few weeks might be best as a lot of the early ones are like this. Last year I got my plus a month after launch and was perfect.

The screen tint on my 6s is a touch warmer than the 6. But it seems to be true to real life color. When I take side by side pics, the 6s is true to color where as the 6 makes the pics look cooler.rgu

For those concerned about yellow screens....does it portray real life colors?

Heres an example of what I was talking about in my first post. Yes the 6S has a warmer screen compared to my 6. This pic shows how much cooler the tint is on the 6. 6 on the left and 6s on the right. Check yours out and see if your "yellow" screen actually shows real life color. Then ask yourself which one would you prefer. Warmer screen that may actually be more realistic or cooler screen but may not portray actual color?

It's not even the same photo. but if the pillow is the one under the phones the one on the right is WAY to more color accurate.

I'm not sure what you mean. Those aren't even photos on the phones. The phones are both in camera mode and focusing on the pillow behind them.

Oh ok you said ipad. Thought you loaded the photo onto the phone in the gallery.

But right is WAY more color accurate to the pillow color. The 6 looks horrible

oh gotcha...i meant I took the picture of the phones/pillow with my iPad. But yeh...I never really noticed how blue my 6 is....until I got the s6 and said hmmm this is more yellow compared to the 6. Then i started comparing them and noticed that the "yellow" screen of the 6s is actually much more accurate.

Welp, as of today I have officially returned my 6s. Don't have the patience, time, or sanity to try and hunt down a perfect display. I will stick with my 6, which has a perfect screen that accurately and evenly displays whites. A perfect display where whites are displayed correctly and evenly easily triumphs 3D touch and new features any day.

My long process dealing with the yellow display:

  • Go into store, they say I must call Apple Care to initiate exchange
  • Call Apple Care, they run diagnostics on the phone and agree it's a hardware fault. Say it's best to arrange a meeting with the genius bar this Saturday but I'm welcome to go to the store early to arrange an exchange in person which should be no problem now they know it's a hardware issue.
  • Go to store, they can't track the device because the online stock cannot be accessed from their store - go on phone with Apple rep for 30 minutes in store trying to get exchange sorted.
  • They try and offer shipped exchange which isn't viable for time constraints, I disagree and say I want an exchange in store because I cannot wait around all week with couriers - they agree and say it can be done.
  • The clerk in store disagrees and says it cannot be done, so my best bet is to initiate a refund via Apple Care and have it returned because I cannot do anything in store.
  • Call Apple care, initiate refund and have a courier collect from pickup point later today.
  • Should have money back in account by Friday.

**** this noise. So disappointed at this lack of clarity, poor communication between Apple's retail/online team and inability to deal with my device at an official Apple store. Never been so disappointed by Apple.

Which apple store is this? I had no problems in the past returning apple product that I purchased online to the Apple Retail. The problem is that they had to go to a different screen to allow that. But I'm pretty surprised that Apple retail told you to return the phone online.

That makes no sense, you're still within the fourteen day window. They either should've let you exchange at the store, or if they don't have stock you could just return it and wait a month until more comes in.

Isn't the yellow tint due to the glue not being dry yet? Just give it a couple days, should go away.

IIRC, despite what the poster below says, the front glass is laminated(glued) to the LCD. I've never encountered the issue fortunately and my phone I received on Friday was just built the week prior.

Same misinformation, different year. The screens have not used glue since the 3GS.

Pretty much,

I'm on the phone currently with an Apple rep who's said he's personally been given control of the situation is is trying to resolve it for me with an exchange in store and transfer the required information to the store to perform it in person.

wow this is for me a VERY serious issue.
i need my screen decently calibrated,
not a lucky pick!

Having to take the long route and have a replacement sent out for early next week. Gutted it came to this but I can't live with a yellow screen at this price point.

Here's hoping round 2 looks better! Even my partner's iPad mini 2 had a better representation of whites than this iPhone 6s.

People can say 'stop looking at it next to other devices' etc but at the end of the day white is white, if the display cannot represent it correctly then it's incorrect - adjusting to it isn't an excuse. Throw in the fact I'm bouncing between multiple displays continuously then there's no way to excuse it.

Yellow screen is not hardware. Once a jailbreak comes out you can change it to any tint you want. Proves it software.
Ok I am confused. If it is software, why wouldn't ALL screens be the same in the beginning? I mean, I know on a jailbroke device, sometimes f.lux can glitch out causing a yellow screen, but we are talking about brand new devices.

Bc iPhones are made from different factories and the little chinese kids that make the phones calibrate each one differently. Every year I get a piss yellow screen, JB it and make it a nice cool blue. Thats software related.

no! they should fix it in a software update.
it's not my problem, it's theirs.

there's no software that can universally make all panels the same.

different suppliers, so they can narrow that down technically but lots of variation within them, too.
