After having this problem two years in a row they really should just completely remove the offending code. It's obviously unreliable and problematic.

How hard is it to just do the popup once per day?
It kind of depends on what's actually behind something like that.

i.e. a bug. I don’t have this “issue” running my non-beta software.

The real issue here is that people want to play with software early without any annoying consequences. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Apple doesn’t have an annoyance-free beta testing program. Rather than admitting it, people are bellyaching that Apple has the gall to annoy them.

1. Discussing a bug AND potentially being annoyed by said bug is a valid part of any beta program
2. This exact issue has happened with previous IOS betas which backs up the idea that the bug isn't necessarily tied to IOS but rather a supporting system of which there is no expectation to be testing

But still tied to beta testing and the pitfalls with using your device as a beta tester.

Apparently YOU don't seem to understand how beta programs work and seem to have a clinical view of the process, we're humans, not robots.

1. Discussing a bug AND potentially being annoyed by said bug is a perfectly valid part of any beta program

I'm not complaining. Just stating how the bug has evolved!

I totally agree that of you trial something you live with the annoying bugs without whinging! 😂

I "fixed" this by downloading the 14.1 ipsw file from apple, and then restoring it using itunes. I didn't have to restore from backup. Everything appears to have made it over, except my iMessage history, but that's on icloud, so I imagine that can be resync'd somehow, I just haven't tinkered enough with it. At least the stupid popup is gone.

Like the fix but I'm not doing it.

I have so much trash on my phone (I understand I have my own issues) and anytime I do a full restore like this, something somewhere gets messed up somehow. Especially authenticators and a few other things that need specific codes when set up.

I'll do it when the new phone comes in and I can have both side by side to make sure everything works before that scary erase everything button and sell this one.

Right, I was wondering what would happen, but it looks like just the OS updated. None of my stuff got deleted. Authy/logins/credit cards all there. And icloud says it's downloading the imessages. I dunno... worked for me, but buyer beware!

I did the same, but my most recent available backup was 9/7 so I lost a month or so of my Apple Watch data. I ended up going back to 14.2 so that I could get everything back (worked).

I was hoping by now that Apple would've fixed this by now either through a patch or a server side fix. I can't imagine they are unaware of this by now.

If you download the IPSW and option-click Update in Finder it’ll ask for the file and proceed with an “update install”. It will say it’s performing a downgrade and that it may cause unexpected issues but I’ve done it well over 20 times without issue so I can say it’s safe.

But if you’re getting a new phone then you might as well wait. Just depends on how annoying it is for you.

If you do the itunes->ipsw upgrade, there was no "backup restore". It just loaded the OS. It appears to have saved everything, but I don't have an apple watch, so I dunno.

This just screams of developers not knowing what the heck is going on. It is very simple, Beta software times out after a certain date. Apple WAS SUPPOSED TO RELEASE A NEW BETA BEFORE THIS MESSAGE. It is because they didn't this is happening. Simple programming if date after this then do this.

The last update was Oct 20th. Normally beta updates are every 14 days, so this seems a bit premature.

Seeing as there were people reporting the issue on Beta 2 and 3, I suspect it's server side, not a bug in Beta 4. Could be that the Update Server has responded to automatic update pings from our devices saying that public release is out and they want everyone off the beta. Once that flag is set on our devices, it notifies us, and the longer we go, the more often it nags us, thus why some of us had it only happening once/twice a day until last night. Also explains why it's happening to people on Beta 2/3, as well as iPhone 12 users on 14.1.

Therefore, any fix would be on Apple's end, not an update sent to us.
Maybe it was pure coincidence, but we just got a new beta. Hopefully something fixed it because this thing is annoying. lol.

Many users running iOS 14 beta are reporting that they are seeing a dialog box pop up repeatedly asking them to update from the latest iOS 14 beta.

Threads in our forums, Reddit, and Twitter are reporting the issue. The dialog has been appearing for a few days now, but as of tonight has started appearing more frequently, every time an iPhone is unlocked. There's been further discussion in our iOS 14.2 Beta 4 thread.

Previous betas have reportedly seen the same issue, according to postings in our forum.

Update: There's a new golden master version of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 available to developers and public beta testers, which fixes the issue.
