Many users running iOS 14 beta are reporting that they are seeing a dialog box pop up repeatedly asking them to update from the latest iOS 14 beta.

Threads in our forums, Reddit, and Twitter are reporting the issue. The dialog has been appearing for a few days now, but as of tonight has started appearing more frequently, every time an iPhone is unlocked. There's been further discussion in our iOS 14.2 Beta 4 thread.

Previous betas have reportedly seen the same issue, according to postings in our forum.

Update: Some have mentioned that moving the iOS date back will prevent it from happening, though that has other consequences so we don't recommend it.

I did the same and the frequency went from 1 notification every 60 seconds to maybe 1 per 60 MINUTES. Also, I’m a noob, so sorry if the images are TMI and the first two are in reverse order.

You can disagree as much as you like, but name me a company thats better and quicker than Apple at releasing software updates?!

I’ll wait...
Just because an update is released doesn't mean every single bug has been squashed. Even my dog is bright enough to know that.

I'll wait.

I would use the word irritation rather than annoyed to describe the message. If you are easily annoyed you probably should not be a beta tester since problems are what you are being asked to identify for them. That is what being a beta tester is. You find and identify issues and report them. If you are annoyed, you should probably go do something else.

Betas shouldn’t be installed on primary devices— I guess we can see just how many folks ignore that fact right here on MacRumors. =P

Bet the iPhone 12 doesn’t have this issue. Since Tim can’t throttle down the iPhones anymore, he’s starting these guerrilla tactics. Today, popups.

To all the people saying: "It's a beta! Why all the whining?" If this can happen on the beta, it can happen on the general release. You should be supporting all the whining to Apple, not attacking it. Apple is bad enough already at squashing bugs.
I can't see anyone whining to Apple here. I of course support all whining to Apple about this, but that is done through other channels.

I do notice that the message is more insistent now. Every time I open my iPad Pro, and often when I open a closed app as well. And at times just randomly as well but net effect is the pop up is getting worse, yeah not a big deal as many have pointed out you just close it and go on with what you are doing. The fact that it is happening more and more makes me think that the idea we missed a set update day might have validity. Just interesting but not the end of the world that some claim it is ;-). And as well pointed out for most of this it is happening on beta software and that is what happens if you do not like bugs don‘t do beta testing.

Like others said, it’s out of control now. I get the error with almost everything I do. Switch apps, unlock phone, return to Home Screen.
