Moronic mindless post. If you knew anything about medicine, you would know that you have just as much chance of developing a fatal gliobastoma or astrocytoma as those who use bluetooth earbuds or headphones. But don't worry. Most of those who develop these lesions can't be cured and then you won't have to worry about posting nonsense here.

I'm glad you were able to find a bright side with respect to largely incurable brain cancers: that people you have a negative opinion about won't be alive for long.

I was excited when I got a notification that my card was charged on Tuesday evening and that my status changed to Preparing for Shipment. I kinda regretted ordering another pair from Best Buy earlier in the day. However, it seems that Apple has placed them on a ox drawn cart as they not scheduled to arrive on Dec. 27th instead of the promised Dec. 29th. I ordered early on the day of release and am disappointed in the shipping speed that they used. Glad that my Best Buy order was shipped 2Day and should arrive today.

"Siri is a somewhat big part of using these" ... yeah that's a big problem since Siri is just a step away from being worthless.

I disagree. I don't plan on using Siri much with these, but I won't lose any functionality. Yes, losing the in-line controls on the cord will be a mild inconvenience, but it is massively outweighed by the benefit of having no cords at all IMO. It is just as easy to reach into my pocket and adjust the volume using the buttons on my phone. Matter of fact, this is personally how I usually do it now since I usually have my hands in my coat pockets anyway. But, I understand this does not apply to everyone. Just my opinion. The only other current function needed is play/pause, which is still very accessible with two options to choose from, both of which being easier than fumbling around for the pause button on the cord IMO. One thing that is missing is skipping tracks/returning to previous track. AirPods are at a disadvantage here.

Not contesting what you said, it's very subjective. I just don't think you need Siri at all to be able to use these. Siri is just a bonus.

edit: I am disagreeing with Siri being a big part of AirPods. I completely agree that Siri is a completely worthless hunk of junk.

I tested them for about ten minutes. If you are happy with the earpods you will be happy with these. They are basically earpods with the cords cut off. Now someone out there will probably say they are slightly different, and maybe they are, but to the naked eye they are basically the same. And they felt the same in the ear (I was surprised how light they were actually).

Earpods don't stay put when I sweat and since I almost exclusively use earbuds in the gym or while out running they were a no go. Especially at a $130 premium. I will be looking closely at third party products that help keep them in the ear, and if I find one I like I will test with earpods first.

Sound quality is basically the same. IMO 100% of the premium you pay for these has to do with the convenience of going wireless.

I meant the in-ear EarPods. The ones with the rubber. Not the EarPods provided with the iPhones.

Edit: Those: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/M...bb01cbc923ed4eecc1fec2fe2b190eacbaaa664ba96be

I know you must be joking here. I smiled and continued to listen and enjoy my earbuds.

I think that's exactly what he meant. Enjoy your earplugs. Meanwhile, I got myself a nice set of B&W P3's at the exactly same price. Some of us actually enjoy "sound quality", when "listening". :)

Exactly how I feel. I think Siri needs major improvements, but the AirPods are going to work very well for me. If there are volume controls added later to the pods themselves, that would be great. I'm not going to use Siri for anything beyond capturing reminders or playing a particular song or asking to call someone. I'll deal with manually controlling the volume and enjoy everything else.

My order was originally 1/12 delivery (4 weeks from original order, which was 9:30am EST of day 1), but just got an email they shipped and will arrive Tuesday 12/27. Woot. Fun to watch the UPS tracking info, from China to US East Coast.

those are probably earpieces that dont use your head to connect to each other?

Firstly: low energy, non-ionizing radiation from Bluetooth isn't getting anywhere close to your brain. Even just the first few layers of dead epidermis are going to stop most of it.

Secondly: It doesn't currently look like the AirPods communicate directly with each other. I don't think it's clear yet what's going on... but most of the conjecture I've seen is that each one has a W1 chip in it that syncs through the phone.

That said: I remain at a loss to explain how it works with non-Apple products like an Android phone. I don't quite know how the two earbuds can look like one bluetooth device...

In the future, I would like to see some type of in-line controls for these. I have yet to test the Airpods.

Yeah, that's my worry too. I'd rather not have to use the volume controls on my iphone or watch, but we'll see how they work when I get them. If the sound quality or range is no good, back they go.

I tried the Dash, but the gestures and controls weren't always easy. And the range was pretty bad. If I had it in my pants pocket like I usually do, the audio would keep cutting out when I walked. If I put them in my upper pocket of my jacket it was mostly okay, but that wasn't going to work long term. They said it may have been a bad antenna on my pair, but I returned them and am going to try out the airpods to see how they work before trying another wireless headhpone.

Can't deny that I do like 'em! But I'll wait for V2, or a better sounding variety. £160 is a bit much for something only marginally better than the EarPods

Mine are on their way. I was slated for January 12. Apple typically ships ahead of time when they predict a later date.

Same... I ordered 2. I was disappointed to see that it would be delivered 1/12 but really happy to see the email today with tracking showing it will be delivered 12/27.

"Bluetooth® earpieces have an SAR value of around 0.001 watts/kg (less than one thousandth the SAR limit for cell phones as set by the FDA and FCC)."
Unfortunately, quoting scientific facts to idiots doesn't help - there's a whole cult of anti-science these days, people who desperately cling to the wild lies of conspiracy websites and talk shows, instead of trying to actually understand the world around them. Letting actual facts into their head would only scare and confuse them, casting doubt upon their tightly held beliefs. Then again, posts like yours might at least help keep someone else from joining the anti-science horde.
Easy answer. So many here use this forum to express their hatred of life and their disappointment in themselves and what they haven't achieved in life. I actually feel sorry for them. Just think of how badly their lives will be.
I don't feel sorry for them in the slightest. I might, if they took their whining about their hatred and disappointment somewhere else, instead of doing their best to ruin these forums with it. They aren't happy so they want to make sure no one else is happy either - rather than working to improve their own condition, they try to bring everyone else down to their own sad, pathetic level. I can't feel sorry for such people.

I got a pair of these as a christmas gift from one of my employees last night. They are amazing in their functionality. Sound great. Unfortunately it looks like I have q-tips sticking out of my ears. They look horrible. She is one of my favorite employees too. Im gonna have to grin and bear it and wear them at work or at my desk for a while. She made her husband wait in line on launch day. I feel bad that they looks bad.

Some sort of touch sensor strip on the side that controls the volume when you run your finger from bottom to top or vise versa would make these absolutely irrefutably a great functioning headphone.

I am in so many every day situations where I can't use Siri because of my surroundings, either the place i am at or the people around me.

You really cannot expect to take them out just to pause play, because lowering volume requires me to start talking outloud.

This stuff is getting more and more silly every day. Just removing things for the sake of removing things to be called innovators has nothing to do with being innovating. This is counter productive as far as user interfaces go in the real world.

Have fun sitting in your car tim cook and asking siri for something and having your earbuds reply, your car system, your tablet in the bag and your laptop.

As a fanboy, i can not help but being grumpy at Apple lately. I am really disappointed by that.

They need to a better job with these estimates! I ordered mine (stated January delivery) and now they're shipping. However, I'm leaving town today and won't be back till January. It's like Apple believes we buy their **** and just sit by the door and wait for it to arrive.

Now I've seen it all. Complaining that Apple is delivering your product earlier than expected? Unreal.

AirPods became available for purchase on Apple's website on December 13, and customers who ordered quickly began receiving their shipments as early as December 19. Orders quickly became backlogged, however, and Apple's shipping estimate slipped to four weeks in less than two hours, and to six weeks by the following day.

For customers that ordered within the past nine days, the six-week wait potentially meant waiting until late January or early February to get the all-new wireless earphones. Fortunately, as is often the case, Apple is now shipping many of those orders sooner than expected, with some deliveries now slated for late December.

AirPods delivered to MacRumors forum member iPhenom

"Just received my shipping notice for my AirPod order," said MacRumors reader York in an email. "The original delivery date was January 12, but it should arrive on December 28th." Likewise, another reader with an original December 29 delivery estimate has now seen his AirPods ship with an estimated delivery date of December 23.

In the AirPods order tracking topic in the MacRumors discussion forums, a handful of other customers with estimated delivery dates ranging from December 29 to January 12 claim their AirPods have now shipped for delivery as early as this week. For some of those customers, AirPods will arrive just in time for Christmas.

"Awesome, mine were scheduled for delivery on the 29th, but suddenly they are supposed to get here tomorrow, the 22nd," said one person. "Order scheduled for delivery on January 12th has shipped with a delivery date of December 28th," said another, noting his shipment was still in China.

With only three days remaining until Christmas, customers may now be pushing their luck to find AirPods in time for the holidays, but a lucky few have managed to find a pair at an Apple Store or place an order through resellers such as Best Buy and the United Kingdom's Carphone Warehouse over the past few days.

Other resellers such as Sprint and Verizon have unfortunately been less reliable, as some customers were able to purchase AirPods from these vendors only to later receive an email saying the order could not be fulfilled at this time. AT&T also has AirPods on sale, but it is unclear when orders will ship.

AirPods are Apple's all-new $159 wireless earphones. The cord-free earphones instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac when taken out of their charging case thanks to Apple's custom W1 chip. Likewise, audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out.

AirPods are controlled mainly by Siri. Doubling tapping an earpiece invokes Siri, and voice commands can be used to adjust the volume, change the song, make a call, and so forth. AirPods deliver up to 5 hours of listening time on one charge, and a 15-minute fast charge provides up to 3 hours of listening time.

Not a bad concept or idea but the fact that they have no adjustment capabilities is a no sale. They fall out and for many, they are not comfortable. To date, nothing can beat my Share SE-846 for sound. They have a cable but nothing comes close.

To be fair to the other guy, that's probably not what he does. It's easy to be misinformed in today's soceity of fake news (ooh get me I'm being topical, lol). One quick "text set against a though provoking stock image" picture is made on FB and shared a million times.

Some people will read it and believe it, some people will just scroll past it after a quick glance. But that is sometimes enough. Once it's in your head it's in there, and should said topic come up in the future you won't remember where you've heard it but you'll regurgitate it as fact.

I'm guilty of it all the time - I'll say something and someone corrects me, so I'll look it up and realise I was in fact dead wrong.

Everyone is misinformed. I'm 100% sure of it. Nobody is 100% right 100% of the time.

But that's ok. There's nothing wrong with being wrong, it's normal.

That's why I posted the link and quote that I did, in order to inform and educate people the best I can.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Have a lovely Christmas. Make sure you drink lots and be merry ha :D
