All 2017 iPhones to Come in Only Three Colors, Launch Simultaneously in September

Why would they have to increase the price? You keep addressing the consumer perspective with a business answer. Are you and Apple related somehow? Cousins maybe?:p:D We've already acknowledged that charging for the charger makes sense from a business perspective.

"Not everyone cares about..." could be used on every feature of the iPhone and it still wouldn't suffice as justification for anything really. If charging overnight was the only use case scenario, you might have a point. Since it obviously isn't, I'm sure you could come up with multiple instances where a fast charge would be an advantage.
If you don't think the price of a product is appropriate, you do have the option not to buy such products.

Heck I skipped iPhone generations because I don't believe it's worth the upgrade price (eg. I skipped 6 because it only has 1GB of RAM, waited and bought 6S instead)

I might skip this year as well (my 6S is still doing great). I would only be interested if Apple offers complete IP68 rating on these new iPhones, and at least 3 or 4 GB of RAM (regardless of size).

You entered the discussion towards the end thus you're missing the context entirely. We're not discussing whether or not someone has to buy. That's irrelevant to the topic of discussion.

Foxconn: We can make 4 million iPhone 8's by Christmas

....

Craig: wanna see some pics of me at the karaoke bar?

Jony: what about my all-aluminium design....

[Tim exits the meeting]

missed a bit:

Tim fading as he heads down the corridor: It's aluminum johnny, call us when you've invented transparent aluminum

If the fast charger is extra, its just another stab from apple. They have stopped surprising me with their greed, but what can you say, they do make A LOT of money.

The rose or bronze color looks horrible in that pic, but im betting it looks nicer in person. And that they are able to color the camera bump in the same color as the phone. Im not a fan of glass, it just gets too damn slippery. I broke my S7 after two months, it just slipped out of my pocket. So you have to use a skin, and that makes the wireless charging not work i believe.

Super excited for the ar news though. That front 4k video recoding, infrared and mad camearas on the back is intriguing. Cant wait too se this saga continue.

Apple's upcoming 2017 iPhones, including the "iPhone 8," the iPhone 7s, and the iPhone 7s Plus, will be available in just three colors -- black, silver, and gold -- according to a new investor note shared today by respectable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo previously said the iPhone 8 would be available in a limited number of colors, but made no mention of its two companion devices. His three color list seemingly matches up with an iPhone 8 dummy model leak that we saw earlier this week, but one of the dummy model shades displayed was more of a copper than a gold, so it's not clear if it's an accurate depiction of the colors we can expect.

If Apple does plan on introducing the iPhone in just three hues this year, we won't be seeing rose gold or the multiple shades of black that were available in the iPhone 7.

According to Kuo, all three iPhone models expected in 2017 will also support fast charging, but he warns that consumers may need to purchase a Type-C power adapter to enable faster charging. The current iPad Pro has a similar feature -- it uses the MacBook's $49 29W USB-C power adapter for fast charging.

Kuo now believes Apple will begin production verification tests on the iPhone 8 in late August, leading to mass production in mid-September, which is earlier than Kuo's previous estimates that suggested mass production might not begin until the middle of October.

With mass production starting earlier, Kuo expects Apple will announce all three iPhone models simultaneously in September, with plans to launch them all on the same date. The OLED version will be in short supply, though, with Kuo forecasting shipments of 2-4 million units in the third quarter.Though a September launch is expected, supplies of the iPhone 8 may be constrained until the first quarter of 2018 due to an expected high demand. Still, Kuo's latest prediction is a rosier outlook than we've seen in the past, as some former rumors suggested Apple could potentially announce the iPhone 8 and then delay its launch until October or November.

Well, the display on my 6 plus gave out today so I bought a 7 plus in red. I wanted to wait but I needed a phone. I was planning on getting the 8 but I reckon I'll wait for the bigger version to launch now. Any word on when we may get a plus sized small bezel display?

Maybe next year, which hopefully will give us a lineup that feels normal including more reasonable prices. Not a choice between two sizes that look awfully similar to a iPhone which came out three years earlier and something which looks similar to the current Sumsung Galaxy phone, introducing some new features like OLED and wireless charging which have been standard on other phones for a while now but at a significantly higher price. Normal year it's not.

iPhone 8
* 10-bit Display P3 capture
* 10-bit Display P3 display
* photos captured by the iPhone 8 will display natively on the iPhone 8, but will require 10-bit dithering on most other (i.e., 8-bit display) mobile devices ... most 4K UHD TVs can & will display the content natively.

iPhone 7s Plus
* 56mm Lens bumped-up to OIS, and very-likely also to f/1.8

iPhone 7s
* bumped-up to 3 GB of DRAM

Misc.
* HEIF = High Efficiency Image Format w/ HVEC compression is a VERY BIG deal ! ... off the radar of most, but should NOT be.
* If NO Touch ID under Glass with the iPhone 8, it will Flop, BIG TIME !
* Mac Rumors should be renamed to "Mac Rumors for Dummies" !

Yeah I figured next year, you think that's going to be the 6.5" display that was discovered in the homepod firmware? That's what I'm hoping. I like the size of the 8 display but I have no problem with the plus frame so a plus sized slim bezel would be what I want.

I was hoping they got a Plus version this year! It's the one thing I'm hoping apple will surprise us with this September. But since there has been no leak of schematics or dummy models of a 6.5 inch version, my hope for that is fading.:(

Yeah, that would be sweet. I can't imagine it launching this year, for the same reasons you mentioned.

Frosted glass isn't likely to be well received.

I'd be fine with it if it has the same smooth texture that the Magic Trackpad and MB(P) trackpads have.

They might even be able to do some cool refraction and light diffusion effects with frosted glass.

It's truly amazing how long it took Apple to realize that OLED displays look better. I had one on my Nexus One years ago. I'm currently typing on Apple's 2017 iPad and this thing has terrible light leaks around the edges! The experience is truly subpar. My friend has a new Samsung phone with a better camera than my iPhone 7 and a much better display. Steve Jobs said he didn't want a race to the bottom with cheap products. Well, with Tim at the helm the prices aren't cheap but the displays are lousy! I'll bet that they won't have an OLED iPad before 2020. I'm ready to ditch Apple in favor of a better experience.

BTW my Apple Watch 2nd generation has had echo problems for more than 4 months! Apple finally realized after all this time that it's THEIR problem Not mine. What a joke! Check Apple's support forum to see all the angry Apple Watch users experiencing echo problems.

Perhaps it's just me, but I really like that copper color. If it's proven to be accurate for a new iPhone color, I would pre-order it.

Yes, the copper color is quite nice imo, but the white bezel....ouch! :eek:

Sure, I agree with both you Guys. Especially, as these are images of "dummy" models and I'm confident that Apple would add a finesse to this colour that we can't see in the image, if it does go into production. My problem is the White Camera Area and Bezels on the Front. But again, I'm hopeful Apple wouldn't devote so much time and resources to reducing bezels only to emphasize them again at the last stage through a colour.

It's not that Apple failed to recognize OLED was better. It was a matter of supply chain constraints.

Samsung bet on OLED very early and has exclusive agreements with OLED equipment and materials suppliers. They basically locked out OLED competitors from substantially increasing production capacity until 2019. Chinese capacity through BOE and Tianma won't increase appreciably until 2020 and beyond.

I like it, too. It strikes a nice balance between the old familiar gold and rose gold, and looks gender neutral for those who are worried about that sort of thing. I might prefer a black fascia with it, but that white one looks fine to me, too.

I'm probably in the minority but I like the notch. It looks very distinctive. I like that overall outline. I'm not focused on disguising it as some other people seem to be. I think the camera bump looks good, too. I had to get used to the new orientation, but I think the lenses look nicely framed. If that's an accurate model, I'm quite happy with it. I can't wait to own one.
