As long as there is this crazy wild new thing called mail order, Apple doesnt need stores to do quite well, thank you. In some big cities they were more convenient, I got the last iPhone Pro Max in Vegas for example, but Apple per se doesn't need the stores. In a year, post-COVID, when billions have been vaccinated worldwide, the entire world economy will see a boom like never before, and in the US, it will be a green one fueled by reality and relief and not by stock market/deregulation bubbles and GOP irrational exhuberance. We had a reality crash coming long before COVID; COVID only hit the entire planet squarely on the head that elections matter.

Because a mask mandate would really do anything.
It would. I live in Malaysia where people started wearning masks BEFORE being told to do so. Case count and mortality (per ion of population) is nowhere near European countries.

Government was quick to impose a total lockdown for 2 weeks to regroup and come up with reasonable policies. Afterwards life restarted, but differently:

International travel is restricted, with mandatory testing and quarantine on return. Interstate travel fluctuates depending on numbers of cases.

Masks are mandatory country wide, temperature checks happen in every store, mall and office building (contactless, including IR cams). You are required to use the government contact tracing app or you won't be admitted anywhere.

The only branch of economy really affected is tourism - but people travel inside the country much more than before.

Meanwhile it seems 75% of countries run around like headless chickens (including my homeland - Poland, my second homeland - Colombia, and the country where I run my business - the US of A)

The US president has a tiny role in the response. The US president is actually pretty much a figurehead as you’re about to see when Biden changes nothing.

9/11 is a poor comparison. It was about one day attack with airplanes and was more symbolic than about actually killing Americans. It was also still worse than Covid.
When the President tells the people the virus is a hoax that will go away, that sets the tone for the response. It’s no wonder the country has been decimated. You didn’t take it seriously from the very top.
The fact that the country can dismiss 100 x 9-11s is a symbol you still don’t take it seriously.

A real pandemic kills millions or billions like lets say 99% of the population. This political pandemic kills what less than 1% of the population and most survive fine. But now the flu kills the same, but they don't close down hundreds of stores because one person has the flu or entire concerts, events, schools for that. This is all a political ploy, so we lose our freedoms.
That “pandemic” is bio weapon, not COVID-19. Human knows the best on how to kill other humans, not the nature.
Say what you want, but Freedom in USA has been ripped out long ago.

How about you provide a mathematical model for your "herd immunity" in the case of Covid-19? After all, we're not living in the 18th century anymore. So how does your herd immunity work? What are the requirements, what the results?
I bet he won’t, both unable to and refusing to do so. If math works for these folks, we’d be well on our way to migrate to Mars by now. XD

Nice knowing you bud!
Good thing I didn't insult anyone then, isn't it? The guy is trolling and in his role of a troll, spreading lies, nonsense and conspiracy theories. As to why he's trolling, I don't know. Again, might be an actor or writer. He did a great job in doing it, very believable. He can not be real, no person in their right mind would actually believe all this is a hoax. He's probably sitting at home having a good laugh at everyone.

Edit: Find it very funny that people screaming for freedom and free speech are then looking at bans. Speaks volumes. 😂

I'm not expecting anything. But you're totally right. 700 years of dark ages and oppression by the church. 700 years of potential progress lost.

The human species is a disgrace.
You know, sometimes I wonder what would happen if intelligent life from another planet would visit earth. They'd probably stay in orbit/solar system and observe us before making contact, then thinking "what a bunch of dumb asses, let's get out of here". ;)

34,200 flu deaths in 2018 and about 22,000 in 2019. We're currently over 300000 Covid-19 deaths. So, what exactly is your point?
None. Absolutely none. They parrot something that's a complete lie, or a wild misrepresentation, they read on ****ter or their nazi platform, Parlor, and think they have the "facts." Just hope they never reproduce.

Yet, we have less total deaths compared to 2019, 2018. Where’s the pandemic?

Why not argue on merits, why do you feel the need to insult?

Wait... what?

Where do you people get these asinine 'facts'? Do you ever bother to look for source data? Because thru December 16th, we have 2,926,129 deaths this year. The projection for the year was 2,750,000. That's a gap of how much? Do the math.

2,839,205 died in 2018, the last final number we have... the to-be-certified number for 2019 is 2,852,590. Do the math.

At the start of October, the CDC had estimated 299,028 excess deaths beyond the average with 198,081 attributed to Covid. Do the math.

How can you live a life so void of actual facts? I'm seriously wondering what mental gymnastics someone has to make to think "flu kills the same"? Where has your education gone wrong? When did you get mentally compromised? Did it start with your upbringing?

See, that's your problem. You think these people can actually do math.

Haha, nice way of coming up with a “death rate.”

Absolutely comical people still float this nonsense. Lol

You're right. His math is wrong. It's 1.8% in the US currently.

17,900,000 cases. 318,000 deaths.

318000 / 17900000 = 0.0177653.... and how do we change a decimal into a percentage? We multiply by 100... right. So shift the decimal point two digits to the right and we have... 1.77653. Or, 1.8, rounded.

And, you know... it's probably quite a bit higher than that, since this only accounts for hospital deaths. Not those that never presented themselves to a hospital and just died, undiagnosed.

- Dr. Fauci is to be respected on some level, but has also backtracked several times on previous statements. When he was at the Washington Nationals game with the first pitch, he had his mask off for parts of the game. By the way, he’s a horrible pitcher.

Respect is given, never taken. Seems Fauci has plenty of it. He may have backtracked, but has anybody gotten it right and look at who he was working with.

With respect to the meme about the game (it’s become a meme at this point) I don’t think the complete backstory is known, so it’s not possible to judge him from an out of context photograph.

You seem to think Apple should have the same draw backs as Dell, Lenovo, HP, etc. I pay the Apple tax, and I expect proper service.
You're very much out of touch with reality. Apple never had to open retail stores either. It's not a requirement for their customers to get repairs. They could be like everyone else, just buy online and send your product in for repair. Entitlement is not an option. There are also a great deal of people who don't live anywhere near an Apple store so guess what, they have to send their product in for repair just like the rest of the non-entitled world. Just because you spend more for an Apple product doesn't entitle you to a local Apple store to take it to for repair. That is the most silliest form of logic. And yes Apple does and should have the same drawbacks as any other tech company. They aren't some magical fairyland with supernatural powers where they are immune to world emergencies. Get real.

To all the sheep that think this is a dangerous virus it’s not. Why can ppl riot fly in crapped airplanes and be crapped in long lines at the grocery stores and the mayors and governors can brake there own rules. But small businesses can’t keep there stores open and go to church. The virus was blown way out of a portion by the media and the government. Once they seen the real numbers of deaths from the China virus they would of had to open up the economy and let ppl live there lives. U subtract 94 percent then u wil get the real number of ppl that have died. The government is trying to control ppl. The flu has killed more ppl than the China virus has

A sheep has spoken.

and we haven't closed the books on 2020 yet and data can take 8+ weeks to be reported - i.e., there's 8 more weeks of peak mortality to add on top of the 2020 pile. Sad.

I'm pretty sure the graph you showed was not of Covid-19 deaths.

For people under the age of 25, the CDC reports that there have been a total of 553 deaths from 2/1/2020 to 12/12/2020.

For people under the age of 45, the CDC reports that there have been a total of 7623 deaths from 2/1/2020 to 12/12/2020.

Finally a correct answer. I know how deadly the flu is as my sister nearly died from it last year but they did not shut down an entire store when she was there.

This virus is all political and stupid people listen to this quacks and news media not realizing they are losing there freedoms to live.

Humans evolved to be social and all the political idiots want to reverse evolution with masks humans eveloved to see full faces, 6 feet apart crap people meant to be close together. Virtually Zoom crap again humans evolved to be with people in person just search for Zoom fatigue.

Exactly. It’s all hogwash. I’ll just have my bleach.

For your knowledge, no health person die from Covid. Mentally sickness is at least recoverable. You can't cure elderly people with multiple underlying life-threatening diseases, who are those that will potentially die from a flu or covid19 infection.

Yeah, only sick people die. Finally a poster with deep medical knowledge.

On December 16, the US reported 3,448 COVID-19 deaths — the most of any day of the pandemic so far.

That was more than the 2,977 people killed on 9/11. It's more than the 2,390 Americans killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor and more than the 2,500 US troops killed on D-Day.

In fact, more American deaths from a single catastrophe were reported on December 16 than on any other day in the past 100 years.

Of the 20 days with the most death from a catastrophic event in the past century, 17 have occurred this year. Twelve of those days have happened in December.

Puts 911 in perspective.

If a person dies that had Covid-19, the death is attributed to Covid-19.

I think that this offsets the probable unreported deaths and the 1.8% US death rate that the poster proposed is probably a good approximation.
