Masks work in time-limited, hygienic, clinical conditions. In public spaces and prolonged use, they don't.
People touch their faces / masks all the time and then they touch things in shops, work places, on transport, etc, picking up dirt and bugs and spreading dirt and bugs. And the masks get dirty (people sneeze and cough and breathe into them) and damp from the inside and the outside, and the dampness attracts more dirt and more bugs, and then because the masks are right over people's mouths and noses, they breathe in concentrated amounts of dirt and bugs, and they get sick.
We know this from research into scarves and into face coverings worn by polar explorers: they have more germs than underwear not changed for weeks. Gross. And far too many people wear masks for months without washing or changing them. Dumber than dumb.
Action needs to be taken, but masks are part of the problem. Would anyone here really walk round with a sheet of toilet paper over their face that's been used by numerous people? That's what a mask is.
Was there an increase in numbers after the mass BLM protests worldwide? No. Were people wearing masks then? No. Are people wearing masks now? Yes, in the main. Are numbers increasing? Yes?

Think wherever you are getting your info from are quacks and need to be fired. But that’s me.
That’s why testing should be fast, free, and readily available to anyone who wants a test, nationwide. Months into this, it’s simply not.
If you have a statistically sound way to count cases that aren’t being tested otherwise, let the CDC know right now, and I’m sure they’ll gladly adopt it. But as a scientist, I’m not about to hear a lecture on having “a sense of data and numbers” from someone who’s seemingly pulling data out of thin air.
If you believe that there’s a significant imbalance in the ratio of deaths to cases which would move the case fatality rate off of the ~1–2% range at this scale, then fine, let’s see some evidence for that imbalance.
Specifically, note that I’m asking for evidence of an imbalance. No one believes that every COVID-19 case is being tested, but also no one believes that every COVID-19 death is being attributed to COVID-19. (Keep in mind that there exists the significant number of excess deaths in 2020 that haven’t been attributed to COVID-19, and no, it’s not people offing themselves.) At the scale of these numbers, you’ll need to either find a lot of cases that haven’t shown up, or invalidate COVID-19 as a cause of death for a lot of fatalities currently considered caused by COVID-19.
Until then, I’ll keep working with the data we do have at this time, all of which points toward a case fatality rate of roughly 1–2%, which has been remarkably consistent since the early days of this pandemic, notably including countries in which testing is far more available than it is here. We’ll likely get a better idea of the real CFR once the dust settles, and look — there’s a chance that it winds up being lower than we think it is right now. It did for the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, but as someone with “a sense of data and numbers,” I’m not going to count chickens before they hatch.
I’m sorry for your loss. They won’t do that if COVID-19 had nothing to do with his death, if that’s any consolation.
Try wearing one 8 hours straight like some of these poor workers are forced to do and eventually they will have breathing problems.
We have testing come out of our ears...I work in the industry. The biggest problem with testing is it’s inaccurate and needs to be done frequently, like daily to get any real sense of true cases.
Deaths from covid are far more complete than covid cases. Are you even being serious?
It is very difficult to prove how many people have/had covid and were never tested, but far easier to know if they had it when they died. I suspect you know it’s hard to prove which is why you asked for proof. If there are 15M cases confirmed, what do you think is reasonable for a real number? Because you know confirmed cases isn’t the number, right? Or are you that dug in?

Apple should have not been forced to close stores. People should be free to gather without masks or staying apart. Have Christmas parties and not that fake Zoom crapola parties with frozen faces, underwater speech. Everything should be open and back to normal. If you catch Covid so what that's what herd immunity is.
You don't know who are benefitting from the lockdowns? Well, how about vaccine manufacturers cashing in billions on-top of billions? Big companies taking over more and more? Governments that find new tools to control their populations?

I have a friend who had to travel more than three hours roundtrip, not including waiting in line, for a free test at a state testing site because he doesn’t have insurance and, due to other unexpected expenses, couldn’t afford to pay out of pocket for a test at closer providers.
Also, still waiting for the evidence of that imbalance.
Don’t think apple was forced. Herd immunity will come with the vaccine. Even if one doesn’t die from COVID -19 after effects are real.

What are your science/medical university degrees, credentials, areas of research/clinical experience, publications, etc that would lend credibility to your assessment of Dr. Fauci.
